I sent them an expensive Nikon lens, they never indicated that they had received it, but I confirmed that they had two months later when I called them, and then they apparently went out of business and now I have no idea where the lens is, and I'm pretty sure I'm out the entire $700 I paid for the lens in the first place. read more

I really appreciated their work. I tried to contact them and found that they have moved to California. Here's the email I received... We can certainly service your camera but we have moved. We have transitioned our business to the west coast and will be operating by shipment. We understand this may reduce some convenience for Chicagoland based customers but we are still committed to provide a world class experience and competitive rates. The business is still maintained by Calvin Kim and I continue to do the repairs myself. Should you want to pursue business with Bk Camera our shipment address is: BK Camera Attn: Calvin Kim 8583 Irvine Center Drive #326 Irvine, CA 92618 Thank you! Calvin read more

Honestly, I found BK Camera Repair by doing a Google search. I was a little skeptical about taking my camera there because none of my friends could personally vouch for them. ... Glad I took a risk! The exact location was a little hard to find because the building contains multiple offices. And my GPS was sending me to the wrong place. But I found it! Haha! When I arrived, I was greeted by a nice girl who checked in my broken camera and my lenses that needed to be cleaned. The next day, I received a call with a quote and an estimated completion time. Calvin explained the costs of everything, and even told me what was not worth fixing! (He could have ripped me off, trust me, I wouldn't have known any better. .. but he was honest!) My stuff was done on time for a very fair price. The only part that was a little challenging was their short window of time for pickup/drop-off. No big deal, I made it work. Just throwing it out there ;) I'd recommend them over and over agin. They were both SO friendly and genuine. They run a great business. Thank you! :) read more

Calvin quickly repaired and cleaned my DSLR and sent me updates along the way. Really glad to have a local shop for these kinds of repairs. 5 stars! read more

They were amazing with their service. Quick, professional, and did exactly what I needed to have my camera lens repaired.

I adore coming here to get work done on my cameras -- Calvin is about as knowledgeable and honest as it gets! He was completely upfront about how a camera I had purchased on Ebay wouldn't have been financially worth it repairing, helped me pick out a new one, and checked it through once it had arrived for any problems free of charge. He's also flawlessly cleaned other pieces of photo equipment that I own at a very reasonable price. I definitely feel safe leaving my equipment with him and will definitely continue as a client, really glad to have finally found a reasonable and dependable camera maintenance shop :) read more

I had a couple problems: a 70-200 mm IS lens which generated an error code and didn't work. I had also sent a Canon DSLR to Canon directly for cleaning and it came back with a prism full of dust. Canon wanted over $200 just to open the camera and LOOK at it, and no apology for shipping me a camera with a prism full of dust. This problem was caused by them. I spoke with Calvin about this, and he said he could work on this while I waited. Calvin gave me the option of having a module on my lens repaired or replaced. I chose the repair. Within a few days the lens went out again. I brought it back in and Calvin replaced the module at no extra charge. The lens is good as new. With regard to the dust in my camera, Calvin opened up my camera and fixed that in less than 5 minutes. Its hard to express how happy I am with the service I received. What I appreciate about Calvin is he treats your equipment as it's the most important piece in the store; he presents all options to get you back up and running and he goes beyond if he has to. I appreciate him passing on his vast technical knowledge as well. Too many shops focus on what they can and cannot do, with no explanation for why they do anything. BK Camera's prices are more than reasonable, but more important, the customer service you receive is exceptional. I definitely will be bringing my equipment to BK Camera for my future service and maintenance needs, and will recommend my friends and colleagues as well. read more

I needed my sensor cleaned on my D850. Sent an email and even after hours they replied and got right back to me to set up a time I could drop it off and have it back in an hour. Great service and was ready on time!!! read more

I'd give him 10 Stars if I could! I contacted a couple other repair shops that took a day or two to get back to me. I contacted BK and Calvin got back to me within 20 with all the info I needed to proceed forward with the repair. I went to drop it off and he was highly professional and organized. He literally had a disassembled camera that he used to show which part was failing that needed to be replaced. He explained the price range of the repair and worked with my timeline of when I needed it back. I just can't say enough good things about how awesome this experience was! I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs a repair done! Thanks Calvin! ***** read more

Fantastic quality service at the best price! They will clean your DSLR lens and camera manually by hand, no machine here. This way will be the best for your camera. Also, they can fix and repair any DSLR camera and lens professionally! I am a big fan and I only trust them with my DSLR cameras and lens. I told all my family and friends to go here with any issues with their DSLR camera or lens. They even fix your DSLR after dropping it in the river. It can be recovered! They have the experience and still doesn't cost much compared to others. read more

Came in recently for a free estimate (nice to have this option) on my older Sony digital camera. When I arrived and they looked at my camera, they realized that the fix was incredibly simple and took care of it on the spot. I felt a bit silly, not realizing what the actual problem was and how simple the fix actually was, but they were very understanding and had a really great attitude, which I very much appreciated. Because of this, I wanted to leave BK a 5-star review. When any future camera repair/cleaning needs arise for me or anyone I know, BK will be the first option from now on. Thanks so much!! read more

I love these guys! They are so personable, friendly, and efficient. And their prices are very good. I often hire them for regular sensor cleanings. I have very high standards, which they're a happily able to accommodate. I recommend them to my fellow photographers and to my photography students because I know they'll be well cared for. I almost wish I had more camera problems so that I could see them more often. Almost. read more

I had a great experience with BK Camera Repair. They are super friendly and great to work with. I dropped my camera off to be repaired and I received a quote the next day. My camera was repaired and cleaned in a timely manner. It is working great now. So glad that I brought it in for repair instead of replacing it. If you need a camera repaired or cleaned I highly recommend BK Camera Repair. They are a great team that you can turn to with confidence! read more

It's amazing how few camera repair places there are around there. Calvin was extremely customer service oriented using me as part of the troubleshooting process. I left him with 2 lenses and my camera. He took a day to recreate the problem, called me back and was ready to return it to me the next day. When I retrieved everything, he went into detail around the problem. I will use them for all problems and cleaning in the future. read more

What a great place for camera repair! Another service shop technician told me at first look that my camera was exposed to water damage and wanted to sell me a refurbished one. Knowing that I take very good care of my equipment and there was absolutely no water damage, I started looking for service elsewhere and I am so glad that I found BK Camera Repair. They were very professional and fixed my camera. Brand new parts were no longer available and I was informed about the option of getting a part from a used camera. I would have never seen the difference, but they still informed me about it. The price of the repair was right and quick as it only took a few days for the part to arrive. Later on, I used them for my wife's camera repair and I was just as happy. I recommend this place to professional and to amateur photographers. I give them 100% satisfaction rating. read more

I love this place, when I'm in a pinch they ALWAYS come through! The first time I used them they were quick, friendly, and my camera looked gorgeous. I don't live anywhere near them anymore but I make the drive, its worth it to me to use people I can trust. read more

My first visit to BK Camera and I was very impressed. My camera and lens were ready the following day. They are on appointment only because of Covid-19 and masks were used. I recently came here to get the sensor on my DSLR cleaned. Cleaning was much overdue, and I was happy to FINALLY find a place that offers such services, Staff was friendly and professional. Stopped in here because I was having difficulty getting a new lens to attach to my daughter's Canon. The proprietor took time to show me exactly how the lens would attach. It sounds simple, but we had struggled for three days to make it work. There was a cap that we could not get off, which he removed in about 5 seconds. Then he took the time to show me the best way to attached the lens and remove it safely without damaging the camera. He could not have been more helpful or friendly. I highly recommend this small repair shop. read more

I've been meaning to write a review!! They did such an awesome job on my mirrorless camera that you'd never be able to tell I dropped it from a balcony. From the moment we walked in to get an estimate they were friendly and knowledgeable, and it made me feel comfortable leaving my dear camera with them. It only took a few weeks to fix at a reasonable price, and when I got it back it worked wonderfully. Thank you for saving my camera BK! I've been recommending them to everyone since. read more

Brought an old FD mount lens in to get repaired. Calvin let me know it would require a new part that isn't made anymore and there wasn't much he could do. Bummer, but he said he'd keep an eye out and didn't charge me for taking a look. Calvin also said he'd let me know if any other FD lenses came in to complete my set. A really pleasant experience, and I'll definitely come back with lens and camera cleanings. read more

SO GLAD we found Calvin and BK Camera repair! Can't speak highly enough about him and his services! My daughter's expensive Canon camera had a cracked lens and she needed it fixed ASAP for a high school video project was due the next day--Calvin to the rescue! Calvin was AMAZING in his ability to help with a camera issue that we had, just a couple of days prior to our vacation. He got us in immediately, expedited the repair process, and went above and beyond what was expected in cleaning and maintaining our camera. We are very thankful for what Calvin of BK Camera repair did to help us and would HIGHLY recommend his services to anyone. read more

I needed my zoom ring repaired and they basically rebuilt the entire lens. And because Nikon had parts on back order they gave me a 10% off.

Calvin does an amazing job keeping my gear in shape. He has fixed film lenses, DLSR repairs, DLSR lenses for me and cleaned my lenses and sensors for me on many occasions. I recommend BK Camera to all of my Professional and non-Professional Photographer friends. I had a quote on getting my CF car reader pin repaired for $298 which was almost as much as the camera is worth. I am selling it but Calvin fixed it for $40. He also fixed my Metz flash that was stuck on a remote trigger for $20. I love the quality and the price of the work that they do. It is well worth the drive from the city. They are right off Maple Avenue on Walnut by 355. I am fortunate that they are very close to my home. I just took a friend's Olympus in to get the screen repaired tonight. Calvin will also do camera evaluations. He and Emily are amazing! read more

Although I did not bring my camera in for repair, I contacted BK Camera Repair and received a well-informed reply to my inquiry about lens repair. From my brief description, they recognized the problem and quoted a fair price, although it was more than the value of the lens in question. I decided not to repair the lens at all (I was just going to resell it anyway), but I really appreciate them taking the time to reply to me. I would highly recommend that based on their customer service. read more
