I'm a long time Costco customer but with just two of us at home, sometimes the giant packages they sell there aren't a great fit for us. One of our friends recommended looking at BJs and we went there and had a great experience. Opening the account was painless and we immediately saw a lot of deals that would help us recoup our membership fee in no time. Additionally, there were a lot of food-related options that were more usable for us and that was nice. Additionally, the cleaning supplies were a really amazing deal. I would also say that the staff we encountered were really nice and helpful. At least three different people asked how we were and if we needed assistance while we were walking around. It's nice having BJs as an option. read more

It is absolutely unsafe to have the woman who is "managing" the gas station stand near multiple gas pumps and a massive propane tank and smoke. We pulled up to get gas and she was standing on the other side of the parking lot smoking a cigarette I was paying cash so she had to walk back to her station so she could take the money. She wasn't friendly at all. When I said hello she grunted at me and said nothing when I said thank you. Do yourself a favor and get gas when she isn't working, you'll feel a lot safer. read more

Actual mold on the fruit visible from outside the package, that I purchased as a curbside pickup! The number of times I receive rotten food from BJ's and don't report is crazy. I place an order online for the convenience of not having to enter the store. Then I get spoiled produce (I would say every other trip) and now I have to go back and return within their specified time frame? Rotten food? I don't know why I continue to shop here. Done. Another trip to the exit, with unscanned items on the receipt. Bad enough, they have one cashier, at best, most days. Missed item. Again. Gate guard was unhelpful, finally reflected I had to go back inside to have them correct the receipt. Office staff, double scanned a paid item, leaving the fourth item still unpaid. Few employees, poorly trained, uncooperative approach to customers. Close this location. Yorktown and Waterbury are a pleasure to deal with, worth the drive from now on. TERRIBLE! Treat customers like criminals. I've been shopping at BJ's for 25 years. Lately, there has been a lot of turnover and that reads like they must be a bad employer. Tried to redeem my rewards from the BJ's credit card today. They refused to redeem them until I showed ID. I had used the BJ's app to scan my membership card which I have done many times. I left my wallet in the car. Their own app wasn't good enough, today. I had to go all the way back to my car and get my wallet. When I returned with my ID, all they do is defend a policy change never publicized or notified the customer. The impression I get is they believe I'm a scammer! What?! Not only does the York, Pennsylvania have stock problems, especially advertised, but their Capitol One Credit Card refuses to dispute valid disputes. Twice in about a year in a half did I have to file a complaint to Consumer Protection Division and even though Capitol One then took of the charges, they actually had the nerve to Federal Express me a letter calling me a lier. I really feel bad about this review as the person who did our rotation is pleasant un like the other one that just does not want to be here. However this is not about them. We have been waiting for 20 plus minutes and this poor kid has been rotating our tires, answering the calls, helping customers with tire questions, then refilling propane tanks. The line froze and now he has to stop every few min to come in and let everyone know to come back. In the interim the customer service desk inside the store could take care of of the propane so your team in the tire department avoid stopping every few min and making a mistake. I m all for multitasking but every time we are here I want to help them answer the phone or something. The job is not horrible it's the amount of unnecessary steps, and call and extra tasks you are expecting from your employees that is concerning. Get them a ear piece to answer the phone in the shop. An extra computer back there that they can use with out having to take 30 steps each way after they stop doing what should be a priority. You pay someone to check receipts at the door why can't you pay someone to take care of the desk and the propane tanks. You are not going to break the bank and your team might be engaged. read more

Im giving these guys a two star rating because my cashier Alexa was very nice and treated me well so did one of the associates upfront. Very rarely do I see a cashier be so considerate while packing the cart. They are understaffed and don't seem very organized due to the lack of communication everyone seems to have in this establishment. There was much frustration when going to check out. BJs used to be better and a lot less pushy but it now seems stressful to even enter the building, my number one complaint is the credit card. If I tell you no I do not want the credit card that means no. I understand there is probably a quota of some sort but you can't force people to get some thing they don't want and this BJs needs to understand that. Still have the best rotisserie chickens, and pumpkin rolls though! read more

This is one of the better ones, sadly no one is ever here, I am not sure How they stay in business. The parking lot is empty and store has not Many people. They have good deals, a auto mechanic shop, a liquor store and a gas station. Also they have really great deals. I will be back, for More deals this place is great and the people are so friendly. We have had very good luck with BJ's. I am not sure why the reviews here are so negative. It may be that only people who have bad experiences need to vent. I buy my organic milk, eggs, rotisserie chicken, and veggies here. The gas station is always busy but it goes quickly. I had a Costco membership , but I don't like the parking. The bakery is better at Costco , but I am just as happy because I don't need the added calories to my diet. Stop and shop has the best tasting frosting and I don't need to pay them to shop there. I also can get parking. Costco is always packed and the parking stinks. The hours are also not for a consumer. read more

It's okay. I think you get better value and customer service for around the same price at Costco. Kind of just sad and weird in there, hardly any associates, most checkouts are done in self check out lanes, most of the produce I've purchased here hasn't been the best either, but it'll get the job done if you're gonna use it that day. I did get a membership gifted to me but will not be renewing once it is up at the end of this month and will be going back to Costco, as I only made probably 4 trips here the whole year and while I don't have anything horrible to say, nothing great either. read more

This was a nice convenient stop. We were done with a few hours of shopping and were headed to an early dinner with my family. My brother noticed that I needed air in my tires and I followed him to BJ's. First of all, it's just a breath of fresh air that you don't have to pay for air! Every single gas station by me charges you 25 cents for air which is ridiculous, also considering the fact that if you need to fill all your tires, you'll likely be paying more because the air just doesn't stay on long enough. I like to shop in BJs for several reasons. Aisles are marked to finding products is simplified. They have about 8 self-checkout stations, expediting checkout. They stock many of the products I often buy and have online coupons. I find it relaxing to shop at BJs, shoppers aren't banging into you and cutting you off in the aisles. On top of all these great features, their associates are pleasant. What's not to like? read more

If you've read my other posts about BJ's you might have noticed that I'm a huge fan of BJ's. they give you coupons plus take manufactures coupons which in my opinion is awesome. This is a brand new location and they are in the process of building a a gas station in their parking lot. How awesome is that. (I wish all the BJ's had gas stations) They have great free samples (if you're hungry, come here and you will leave full!) I tried their blueberry muffins - delicious. To all the mommies and daddies who don't normally shop here for baby items, I think they are the best place to buy diapers and baby food because buying in bulk with a coupon can be cheaper than supermarket prices. read more

Compared to other BJ's locations I've been to, this ones a little smaller but is easier to navigate. Apparently they close earlier on Sundays (as I discovered when trying to check-in on Sunday evening) but I had no problem making my purchase, looking around or anything of that nature. They also have a gas station attached to this one & the price is cheaper than I've seen in this area so it might be worth the membership cost even if you're just going for that. Oh, and I like that this one is clean unlike the closest BJ's where I used to live that was tiny, messy and a pedestrian nightmare to get into. read more

I'll give this place a two because there trying. If you've ever been to BJs on federal road in Brookfield CT you learn one thing real fast, they don't have a lot of employees and when they do it's seasonal. I went in to renew my membership because since I'm military I have to go to customer service. Well. Walking and saw the line for customer service on Sunday, Feb 6th. One lady working her butt off behind the counter with a long line of 8-10 people waiting for help. She had one couple at the desk for 15 minutes, no one came to help expect a another employee who had no idea what she was doing. Not that she was mean or bad but you could tell she had never done customer service as I'm standing there I see other employees just walk by see the line and do nothing. Needless to say I walked out without renewing my membership. I'll probably go back and renew but only because they have a couple things Costco doesn't. Also, BJs, can you fix your gas pump handles? Why do I have to hold the handle down to pump gas versus the little lever to hold it? Still getting my money. Just saying if anyone from BJs is monitoring. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my product from Bjs, and also the customer service I have (not) received after making a complaint. I bought a special order cake from their bakery and the product they gave me was horrendous. The cake was suppose to be a 2 tier "ombre" cake going from pink to purple. The cake looked awful and I was stuck buying this cake because st 930 am on a Sunday the day of an event what choice do you have. (I had to spend money to fix this cake from looking like a mess) I since have contacted the bjs customer service and was told a senior manager would contact me in 3 days. In which I have NEVER heard back. The reason I am giving a 2 star rating instead of a 1 is the cake(althouh awful) was ready at the stated time and tasted good. read more

I really don't like posting such negative reviews but I have to for just this ONE location--Brookfield, CT. I have been to BJs and I like them (although my allegiance is so to COSTCO--you are not worthy!!!) My last experience here so deters me from joining altogether, even with the claim of full reimbursement if unsatisfied. I got to this store at 5:40 pm, on a Tuesday Fall night, really in the midst of rush hour traffic, when everyone hits the stores after work to do their shopping. I was confident that I would be in and out as the parking lot had many vacant spaces. I needed to refill my propane tank, and it was no bargain at $15.99 considering up the block it was offered at $16.99 with IMMEDIATE service (i'll explain) I walked into the tire center since that is where they do propane refills and I waited for about 6 minutes and not one person came to the counter--I opened the door where the auto mechanic was ferociously working on a car and I asked him if there was anyone doing the propane and very politely, he stated "I'm only one here so I'll be with you as soon as I can" He was most respectful but clearly he was busy. I waited a few more minutes and I was quite in a hurry as I had to be at my final destination by 6:45. I finally asked him if I could leave the tank and run into the store to pick up 3 items and he said no problem and that I could pay for the refill in the store when I was checking out--about 11 minutes wasted right there (yes, I am patient, even when there is no elevator music/muzak playing). So into the store I went to pick up my items and pay for my discounted (????) propane....first stop is at the DELI--Very nice lady working the counter BUT she is maniacally swamped....she too is ALONE!!! After about 10 minutes, she is able to get to me and I asked her if it was only her today and she said that her co-worker was on break and that it is solely her for now...she served me ever so politely and as I was leaving, there were about 5 other eager customers waiting patiently to place their order with a look of exasperation. I then go to check out my big bag of ice (which I had to trade in because of wait on the deli line), almond milk, cold cuts and there in only ONE CASHIER checking people out and 4 self-check outs were open but 3/4 are blinking as they need assistance (discovering that this is truly a place for only ONE). I opt for the selfie since the line is shorter and I was smart enough to wait on the non-blinking line given my rush. I scan all of my products and I now need to locate the the key for my propane tank on register keypad and I can't. The lady coming to clear off the other three registers' issues walks by me and I ask her about inputting my Propane refill and she says; "Oh,, that can't be down here--you need to get on line and work with a cashier--you'll have to wait over there" By that point, I am all scanned, ready to pay and that live Cashier has a line with 4 people on it with flowing over-the-top carts. It is now 6:22 and I have to now guise myself as Danika Patrick to be home by 6:45.!!! I was absolutely disgusted...lastly, gas price there was $3.19--competitors, right up the block at about 1/3 of a mile was $3.09--but why???? Tell me whhyyyyayayaya as Annie Lennox so graciously sang. Needless to say, I left the store furious and in a bit of a huff--how they manage to staff a store at night with minimal personnel is beyond me! This store cannot handle crowds and I have watched people leave it, empty-handed because they do not want to wait on line for their 3 items. I really do love this store but the way it is being managed/operated does not promise for a fruitful or successful business especially with the upcoming holidays. I did go to Costco right before this pitiful stop and COSTCO was packed--I managed to get parking, shop and fill my cart up to the brim, pick up my prescription, go to the water closet and Gas up cheaper and in less time than I did picking up my 3 puny items at BJs. I am sorry to say that I will not renew my BJs membership and am happy that this is solely a FALL 2014 TRIAL membership as my sticker so glaringly states in fluorescent orange. COSTCO, make way cuz, here I come....also LOVE the free cookbook they give on Black Friday weekend!! read more

i bought a $600 futon from bjs it is the most uncomfortable futon i have ever been on. i tried to return it they denied it so now im stuck with this doofy uncomfortable futon . do not recommend buying any type of futon there . read more

Bj's wholesale club is great! It is our primary store for paper goods and other grocery items. Love their rotisserie chicken! Prices are great and very convenient for me and my husband as I am a disabled veteran and we are both cancer patients. They are very friendly and have easy self checkout! They take all manner of payment! In our personal opinions BJ's is a lot better than Costco for ease of shopping. read more

I would have to agrew with other people thag there arent as many products here than other club stores. I do however like the setting in the store. There is alot of space to move around and the carts are huge. the cafe has unos pizza which is ok. The gas station always has good prices and their employees have been nice to me. read more

As our membership was coming up for renewal, my last experience at BJ's made the decision NOT to renew SO much easier. I went to BJs yesterday evening at 5:45. We planned to return our bottles and do some shopping. We visited the bottle return, and as luck would have it about 20 bottles in the machine needed to be serviced, so my boyfriend went in to the front desk to let someone know. They said they would page someone and to go back outside and wait. About 10 minutes passed and I heard the store re-page someone, so we continued to wait, a little peeved, but could at least hear the concern being addressed. About 20 minutes later, my boyfriend went back into the service desk and was told they will page someone again but if no one comes to just count up the bottles and bring them in the store. After about 10 minutes we decided to count the bottles up just to get the rest of our evening started, and after counting 233 bottles by hand in the cold went back into the store with our cart of loose bottles and stood in line at customer service, where only one person was working with a line full of people.... Once it was our turn to go up the lady came around and seemed annoyed to have to deal with our bottle issue. She handed us a bag and then proceeded to argue with us that a specific brand of bottle we had would not be accepted there, even though they clearly sold them. I told her that that type of bottle had gone through the machine already and if they would simply have fixed the machine we would've been happy to return them in the normal fashion. She then called management, and the woman who came up very rudely said to just accept them to get us out of the store.... We tried to explain that they went through the machine and she simply dismissed us by saying well no one is around to fix that... So we then were told we had to RECOUNT the 233 bottles again... not sure why we had to count them the first time just to recount them again. We were told only one of us could count at a time because she had to double check our counting and couldn't keep up if both of us were counting and bagging the bottles. We were then told we had to go back to the back of the line and once she took care of everyone else she would give us our bottle money... Now while many people may not go to BJ's to return bottles, clearly enough people do so that the bottle machines were full. I always purchase our water there and they are the only store that accepts their bottles back, so I didn't have a choice.... Needless to say I will NOT be renewing our membership and did not buy a single item there last night... I went straight up the road to Costco and bought what I needed, without a hassle, and got to visit the food court because they were actually still open, unlike BJ's.... All in all awful experience, I liked BJ's for the self-checkout efficiency, but the terrible customer service is not worth it for me. read more

I love their gas station prices and do go there, but the store does not carry anything I want or use. I've made purchases just because I'm there, but haven't been satisfied with the quality. Their liquor store is terrible with a poor selection and the prices did not seem better than in local liquor stores. To sum it up, the only service I use is their gas station and they get four stars. read more

This is one of the newest BJ's in the USA right now as it opened last month. Because they have come to town, food prices have dropped drastically in the area. Across the street at Shoprite Red Holland Peppers used to be $4.99, now they are $1.49. Milk was $4.09 now it is $3.79. Everything is on fire sale in the store - and that is only to match the prices at Bj's, not beat them. If nothing else, the introdction of a discounter to this area has lowered the cost of groceries for the time being - even if you have to buy more in bulk. It is an exchange I will gladly make any day to save money over the long haul. read more

We joined as an alternative to Costco. We thought the empty parking lot and store were a plus. Now we understand why this store is unfilled. Our first return of one item (under ten dollars &their exclusive store brand) was a lesson in frustration with zero resolution. Surprisingly weak customer service. Well, I normally always shop here, for the deli, and sometimes, sometimes they're staffed enough. However, today was a negative star experience. I placed an order at 3:50 on FRIDAY for a pickup MONDAY at 3pm. Simple order, 48 mini cupcakes, pink and blue frosting. Easy peasy right? On Saturday I went to pick up a few items for bbq and figured, let's just stop by bakery to confirm order for MONDAY at 3pm. Young girl said, they did tell you it's "airbrushed frosting right"? NO, but ok, that's fine, I guess. Now, MONDAY at 1050 I call and ask if I can pick up ASAP rather than 3pm. Girl says, how about 1230 (1 hour 40 minutes to airbrush cupcakes, ok, fine I say). At 1210 MONDAY I receive a phone call, I'm sorry ma'am, we have no pink airbrush color, only purple, will that do? Ummm, NO, it's a baby shower, like a human being baby shower, not Barney the dinosaur shower. And you're now calling me 20 minutes before I'm supposed to pick them up, and 3 days after I ordered???? Then manager calls me back and says no charge for them, well do the best we can with the purple turning into pink. Never was about the cost, just the lack of interest in a customers preplaced order. I went to the tire service center to get a battery. The gentleman there was of no help at all, very rude, would not help me at all. I was ignored totally. He stated that the batteries were franchised out and BJ`s has nothing to do with them! I was on my own. I mentioned I was going to complain inside, he said go ahead! I have purchased 3 batteries there before and there was always someone to help. So, never again! I want to sears, they were so helpful, I don't even like to go to sears...Great battery for $110.00. So do not go to the tire side if you want just a little bit of customer service or a battery, you won't get it. It was shocking how rude, mean, and uncaring an experience I had today.
