I needed to repair and service my boat on a short notice before the trip to Lake Tahoe. It was dying on idle. Jack was able to identify the problems and to fix them. I called the business on Monday dropped off my jet ski the same day and it was fixed within 48 hours. Couldn't make it during business hours to pick up my jet ski. Someone met me there on Saturday during non-business hours and allowed me to pick up my jet ski. This review is a few years overdue. Back then, I was brand new to boating. Bought a used boat that crapped out my very first day on the water and I brought it to them to repair. They did an outstanding job, fixed some other stuff and redid the shoddy "repairs" the previous owner did. Since then, I've been taking my boat to them whenever there's an issue. Jack, the head mechanic, was always helpful and he and his team, Dmitry (who helps with the yard) and a few dif guys who have cycled through, have always been very friendly and took time to always explain repairs to this newbie boater and just give me tips etc on boating here and there. They seem to care about making boating enjoyable. More importantly, they do good work for fair pricing and never try to upsell me. Sometimes when minor things come up with the boat, I'll even text Jack and he'll respond with suggestions etc. In particular, one time I had a grounding event at a sand bar.....messed up my sterndrive. Jack opened up the drive and realized it was damaged and needed a replacement. Insurance tried to deny my claim and said that replacement wasn't necessary. It was a long process that kept my boat in their yard for months. Jack worked with me to fight with the insurance, working with their adjuster and so forth and I was able to eventually get them to pay me out for the repairs with his help. I've since moved my boat to a different storage area and BJ is further out than some other boat shops but I still go back to them because they've earned my loyalty for their customer service. read more

Needed a lower drive/unit and hydraulic rams replaced on a 2000 Maxim SR3. Based on previous reviews, we decided to travel over an hour and a half to have these guys service the boat. We were not disappointed! They had the issue diagnosed fixed and ready for us to pick up within a week and a half. There was a small issue that they did not hesitate to address, even though there was a chance that it wasn't due to swapping lower unit. Jack, Adam, and Dimitri were extremely pleasant to deal with and very knowledgeable. Jack maintained consistent communication through every step of the process ensuring that they were accomplishing everything that we requested. I thought I wrote a review years ago when this happened to me. (2019) I don't see it in the reviews so I guess I forgot to write one. I will just say that I wanted some work done on my bass boat. Eventually they got around to working on it, and their mechanic told me that my motor needed $700 worth of work to get it running. Before I took that motor to them it would always start. So I was perplexed that it would not start! I did not believe the mechanic and I took my motor to a place in Stockton. The next day they called me and told me that there was not a thing wrong with my motor! Mechanic told me that it started on the first try. So beside the money that I had paid BG marine, i also forked out money ($477) to have another mechanic (Pacific Boat Repair in Stockton) tell me there was nothing wrong with it. I had that mechanic tune it up and change my water pump. I am very leery about these service shops, and after reviewing all the favorable comments, I felt I needed to make people aware that not all are reliable as was my experience. read more

I brought in my VR5 a few weeks ago for a simple oil change and a full inspection of the battery, transom, engine along with a cleaning and tune up. I spoke with a gentleman named Jack, who assured me that everything would be completed in about 10 days...it has surpassed that amount and every time I call the business number, it goes to voicemail. No texts have been responded to either. I drove by a few times, and absolutely nothing came of it as no one was at the location. Just fully unprofessional, will never stop by again. We brought our boat here to have an oil leak fixed, was told it would take 2 weeks. 4 months later after endless unanswered/unreturned calls we get the boat back. Excited to have the boat back we take it to the lake and upon launching it, it practically sinks. We were able to save it from completely sinking and realize that the bellows around the engine were attached incorrectly. This is after paying for them to do a "boat inspection". We brought it straight back to BJs marine service and they claim they didn't touch the bellows. They take the boat again for a week to dry out the engine. Since then the motor has not ran. He claimed to have changed the points and timing. We had another boat repairman look at it and was informed that the points that were replaced were auto parts not boat parts. Make sure to check your boat after having it repaired by this shop. read more

I"m not one to post reviews, but oh my are these guy good. Took my boat in for a 100hrs service. At first I was a little leery due to the location, but have to say I'm so happy I gave 'em a go. The customer service was over the top. I was never in the dark re: cost nor when the service would be completed. I actually showed up a day earlier than quoted, driving my car. The work was completed early and they actually towed my boat for me to my storage location. Who does that? Ongoing, this will be my destination for anything I need for my boats. read more

It's middle of summer, my boat broke and needed work. My regular shop wanted me to wait 6 weeks for repair along with 2 other shops near me were booked out as well. Everyone was busy and I understand that, but what I dont understand is when you're a regular customer, you should have some kind of priority to get your boat back on the water. I googled boat repair near me and BJ Marine popped up. I called and spoke with Jack and let him know that my boat stopped pumping water. I have a Centurion V-Drive wake board//ski boat. Jack said bring it in and he would look at it. I dropped it off at 6pm on Tuesday and it was repaired and ready for pick up Thursday at 10am. (water pump/impeller housing had cracked)...1 1/2 day turn around. Jack was in communication with me the entire time and I couldn't of asked for better service.
