One of the fun things about finding this place was the trouble we had finding it!! We were actually looking for the Druids Temple (a folly on the Swinton Estate) and drove around a while before stumbling upon the Swinton Bivouac site which neighbours the Druids Temple.
Swinton Bivouac itself is an eco friendly business with yurts and woodland shacks - we passed by these and they looked pretty awesome and the general feeling of the place was one of peacefulness. The setting is high up in the hills and the views are simply breathtaking - when we visited it was very windy and boy, did we feel the fresh air - it was totally amazing!
The bistro cafe is on site and its really lovely. it welcomes dogs too which we found very handy, served really good coffee and cake. There were some interesting looking dishes on the menu but we werent that hungry so didnt partake. The people were friendly and happy to chat about the site and the local area. We followed the coffee and cake with a walk to the Druids Temple and surrounding area - well worth a visit! read more
