As a visitor from Florida, I found the service and food excellent. The food was fresh, hot and large portions. I would highly recommend it.

Well Harrogate is known for some superior living and the Harrogate Brassiere fits that bill. What a…read morenice building it is too. Of course it is a hotel so you can rest your weary head there but it also has a fine eating emporium. Oh yes it does in pantomime style action. This is grand dining with fresh, seasonal and local produce all whipped into some luscious creations. Try the oak roasted salmon fishcakes to start with. They almost melt in the mouth. For a main I went for some mushroom fun (ghi). Sorry bad pun alert! The steaks are cooked to perfection though or you can stick to chicken, duck or whatever takes your fancy. Excellent puddings as to be expected and a totally extravagant dining experience all round. Don't expect it to come cheap, it doesn't but we all need a total blow out sometimes in our lives. We salute you.

BUT, Trev arranged suprise trip here in June. We only stayed one night, but what a night. Our room was one of the new ones, happily not new room, just newly decorated, had lots of old features, was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. We booked in and went out exploring for a while, came back and got a bottle of house wine, 2 glasses and a cooler to take up to the room while we got ready for dinner. Dinner was first class. The food was well prepared, well served and there was plently of it. I had the best king prawns I have ever had followed by duck which was cooked to perfection. Trev has sea bass ( I think) and that was delicious too. We don't really do desserts, but folk around us were smacking their lips at theirs, so they must be good too. The wine was a little on the expensive side and nowt flash, but not bad enought to really complain about. We will defo be back as soon as possible, for longer hopefully, and we have recommended it to all our mates, especially those who like a bit of Jazz with their dinner.... nice

    3) So this being…read moremy third review I figured I should have some sort of structure. So when on my adventures I will be looking at the same areas 1) Once you Enter- Does anyone greet you, do you seat yourself or are you one of millions crammed in to the place 2) Service- Do the speak comprehendible English are they slow in speech and action, and lastly do you leave there questioning .. 3) Ever so important the food. Does it fill you up for the price, is it overly cook, might it kill you, lastly the level of edibility. Being a fat kid if I would not eat the establishments food, I am sure you and your pet would not. 4) Atmosphere. Was it loud, relaxing, weird smelling, retro, dirty.. I could go on and on. I am sure you could add your own categories describing a few questionable places. Anyways the Review of the Skipton Inn (PUB) 1) You walk in, its peaceful, the bar keep is friendly and there are only 6 people leaning against the bar. You can not help but hear the country music in the back ground. 2) Service was ok, the bartender was not hot it was a guy. He poured a quick pint and took my order. I left the bar to find a seat not really wanting to punch him. It is a step up from a few other places around Harrogate, UK. 3) Food was very interesting, I got the Mixed grilled meat plate for 8.50 pounds. A little steep, but this plate seemed more like a platter. It had 4 meats I knew ( Ham, Steak Sausage, and Chicken) and one I had no clue. Of course every thing comes with CHIPS. My only word of caution with this feast is do not get a John Smith. It does not complement the meal at all. Tasted like Spitting Tobacco. The overall meal was filling, I could not finish it all. The meat tasted a little wild. Being that everything in America is processed I am the meat may have been fresh. There was a lack of spices so that might have accounted for the flavor. I still ate the meal with no other questions. The atmosphere was extremely relaxing; I almost fell asleep. You have the low back ground country music, from multiple decades back, playing, while leaning back in the padded arm chairs. The Skipton Inn has a really cozy feel. It also has plenty of space for large parties.

You can probably tell by the name that it's slightly Bowie influenced and there's definitely a retro vibe throughout, with nods to the 60's and 70's throughout - the entire aesthetic looks like it was done on a budget but this is one of the cool things about it, it reminds me a lot of the early days 'Common' in Manchester when everything was flung together using ply wood and borrowed furniture. The craft beer selection is simply awesome - amazing choice on tap and bottle and the food menu is simplistic, but decent. We had the charcuterie board which was nice (check out my snaps) and they specialise in pizza. Just be careful if you're hungry though - a 35 min wait for our food when half busy... not sure if they have more staff usually but did seem to be a bit excessive when it comes to putting some bread, meat and cheese on a board. Looking forward to heading back here at night as supposedly a really good joint in the evening. *Kids and pet (I take it dog, not snakes, bats etc) friendly*

One of my favourite bars to visit in Harrogate…read more We were fortunate enough to be staying in the travelodge opposite Major Tom's on our first visit to Harrogate, as we could have possibly walked past it if we hadn't have been, due to the fact it sits above a selection of vintage shops. But if you follow the stairs up to this cafe/ bar, it transforms into a retro-feeling, huge bar. With old fashioned sofas, 70's lamps and pacman arcade games galore, it really has a cosy feeling in such a big venue. Great for groups, but cuddled up on a sofa, my boyfriend and I felt snug as a bug playing dominos and connect four. Although I lost both games, it couldn't stop me from loving this place. To try really hard to find any faults, I just wished it had a wider selection of ciders- then it would be perfection! We unfortunately didn't have time to sample their pizzas, but they also looked (and smelled) amazing. A definite must if you're visiting Harrogate!

As this was a sort of mini-holiday we wanted to treat ourselves. We stumbled agree the White Hart in our quest and were not disappointed. The restaurant is a tea room during the day and it appears that in the evenings it is trying to turn itself into a restaurant, so to that end it was probably very early days as a dining establishment. The restaurant was rather sparsely populated by other dining customers, but that did not deter us. We got seated in a lovely part of the restaurant with my boyfriend getting a sort of throne for his seat. I had pork belly for starters, and for mains I had guinea fowl wellington. As there was extra meat from the preparation of my mains they brought that out in a lovely bowl for me to nibble on if I was still hungry. The starter and main were so succulent and moist; they were so tender that they melted in my mouth. It was the right combination of flavours and texture. My boyfriend had pigeon for starters and I can't remember what he had for mains. I was focusing too much on the delightful flavours of my dish. I would highly recommend coming to the White Hart. Obviously it is much pricier than a pub, but the delights on the palate do not compare.
