I was a little confused at first because you can order with machines or order with the person. After we order the food it was brought out to us. The server was super nice and they checked up on us even though I would consider this place more of a casual, not full service restaurant. Will probably stop by again!

But the ordering is near impossible. You cannot place a to go order on the phone. Online and kiosk ordering only. And I can never find the items I want to order on either system even though they are on the menu. Today, it was the 1lb chicken plate that I couldn't order. Also could not order mac and cheese, not as the plate side, not as a regular side. Nowhere. Last time it was some other common dish. So I have to order at the front with a person. They don't want to talk to you. They are fine when they finally take your order but it's a small agony to order with them. And it always smells like they're smoking something other than meats inside while I wait. Also, I had signed up for text coupons. Got a ton of texts (maybe just weekly but felt like a lot) with different offers. Great. Except you can't use it when you order with a person. They said it was bc they are transitioning to a new system but the new system seems indistinguishable from the last - neither lets you select from the full menu. Today was my last attempt. I just can't anymore.

I'm not sure why they moved it, but probably due to new construction and the new restaurant openings. Anyway, it's held the 3rd Friday of the month. And runs from 5 pm to 9 pm. There is ample street parking as well as a couple parking lots nearby. It was not very busy when we came -- around 7 pm. Perhaps because there wasn't much advertising for it. I'd looked for it -- to confirm it was happening and couldn't find it -- online or in the local paper. How did we find it? From my favorite food truck (Captain Lobster) that I follow online. They noted that they would be here tonight and we took a chance. There were two rows of trucks near Atlantic boulevard. And past the music area another two rows of more food trucks further north. In addition to lobster, you can find trucks offering gyros, tacos, soul food, bbq, hot dogs and deli, stuffed burgers, shaved ice and ice cream. You will easily find something among all the offerings that you will like and want to order for dinner, a snack, or a dessert. There's one small booth also selling cocktails over by the music (manned by a DJ). There's a music area and a few people were dancing. Kids were wandering around with hula hoops. So it's a family affair, too. So stop by for nosh or for dinner or even just dessert. Wander around, listen to the music, and relax.

This was the first time Pompano was holding the event in Old Town. Food truck round up is the third Friday of the month. So now you have two Fridays to come and enjoy the fun in Pompano every month. Before you decide to eat take a walk around to see all of your food truck options, they span two full streets! Barbecue, Caribbean, Greek, American grill, if you crave it they have it. As for myself and my friends we always end up back at Captain Lobster where you can get a buttered roll chock full of sweet lobster for $15. They should pay me to advertise because every time I eat in front of their truck I steer people over to them. Moop We Love Pops just happened to be parked across from them so I couldn't miss that. They serve Gelato in a cup or on a pop. They will dip it in chocolate for you and a topping. Roy had the passion fruit pop dipped in chocolate, my daughter had the cookie and cream pop dipped in chocolate, and I had the dulce de leche caramel in a cup with chocolate and chocolate sprinkles. It was delicious. Hanging out with friends and family on a Saturday night at a fun event while enjoying delicious food and listening to DJ Mike Locke spin the tunes, it doesn't get better than that.

When your Puerto Rican friend spots the food trucks, she's going to pick Pork O' Rican which is how…read moreI ended up here. By the time I arrived at the Margate Fall Festival the lines for all the food were really long. It was either eat at Pork O'Rican, wait in another line for over an hour, or be hungry. Pork O' Rican it is! According to Pork O' Rican this is their story "We are a Puerto Rican food truck who also provides catering for corporate events, parties, festivals and more. We have been cooking authentic Puerto Rican food for years and wanted to be able to share it with the community. Our famous signature dish is our roast pork. Amongst that are some of our top sellers including tostone platters, rice & bean platters, empanadas, alcapurria, and more. We just want to share the Puerto Rican culture and provide the community with the natural flavors of Puerto Rico. This is a family run food truck. Mom and Dad cooked, their daughter took orders, and they even put their young son to work. By the time we got to order they were out of the arroz con gondules, yellow rice and pigeon peas. Fortunately they still had the bacalaitos, codfish fritters which my friend really wanted and she also ordered the alcapurias. I chose the roast pork platter with rice hold the beans ($12). A water was an additional $2. I was pleased that they took both card and cash payments. I gave the plantains to my friend who enjoyed them. The roast pork portion was small, had really hard pieces, and was swimming in pork grease. Once I dislodged it from the grease and shredded it, and incorporated it into the rice it was okay and it did the job of abating my hunger. To be fair my friend really enjoyed her food and she is Puerto Rican so you should trust her opinion more than mine. This is one of those times I really wished Yelp had half stars. If I averaged our two opinions it would be a 3.5. After reading the owner's thoughtful and fair reply and other good reviews I would be open to trying them again when they aren't so busy.

I got the pork sandwich which normally comes with lettuce and tomato, they do not offer onions raw or cooked which is a bummer, but I had sweet onion and spicy pineapple vinegar at home so no biggie. Roll is like an amoroso or something, it's a hoagie type, I would have preferred it as a panini-style on Cuban bread or a round roll but I guess that's what they used today. Next time I won't get it with cheese, frankly next time I'll probably just get it as a plate with beans and rice. Pork itself is nice and tender. Came with tostones. They look good, left them for later. Empanadas are clearly homemade, they are a nice size. Got the beef picadillo ones, haven't touched them yet. I did, however, try their beef Alcapurria. This is a fast food dish unique to Puerto Rico, it is like a tamale but made of mashed plantains, filled with any number of things (this was beef picadillo) and then deep-fried. OMG. An empanada with a plantain crust. Some notes. They did not give me any condiments and didn't ask if I wanted any. Tostones really require Salsa Rosa (pink sauce) or some mojo. I, fortunately, had the ingredients to make it myself, it's ketchup mixed with mayo and usually some spicy vinegar. I would ask and make sure they give you something to dip in. They did take credit card payments and put it in my trunk while I waited so relatively contactless.

Finally I was going to take the burgers as is. The guy says sorry we can't make this burger to go. It's a burger place that has carry out but won't make a burger to go and won't let you make any modifications. Bad experience, don't recommend. Will never come back. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Thank you for the reply. I originally wanted to X-tudo but I was refused to substitute the bug without seeds, every burger that is taken to go is never as good as dining in. As a customer I could have been given the option. The person could have just said it's not as good but it's your choice. I was never offered a chance to speak with a manager, I was just told NO. As a customer it should be up to me what burger I want to order, the ability to modify it and dine in or out. If I pay for it then it shouldn't matter if I take it home or just throw it out. I was frustrated because anything I asked for was met with a No, and was not offered to speak to a manager. It was the attitude take it or leave it, so I did. If the person I spoke with offered to involve a manager or try to find a solution I would have not written a review. I never do but this time I took the time to write one, that should say something. Thank you for your reply
