If you think that this clinic cuts corners, it does! If you think this clinic is up for cash grabs…read morewhenever it can, it does! My mother had a CT scan for abdominal pain back in March of 2023 for her gal bladder and it was noted she had inflammation, yet the doctor did not recommend or prescribe any medication to treat the small issue she had. Flash forward to August 2023, she goes back to the ER with a different CT scan from STAT Emergency and is told the gal bladder inflamed even more, and she would have to undergo surgery to remove it. Let me get this straight. You people didn't mitigate the risk when you had the chance, but saved all your efforts till the last minute when you could charge the insurance company as much as possible putting her under several anesthesia drugs to the point where she needed CPR and a defibrillator after going into cardiac arrest. I could've lost my mother all because you people didn't see a need to stop a train in its tracks with all the bells and whistles going off. If you still don't think FDRM isn't a cash grab, I will also mention that one of the cardiologists saw something concerning and said her heart was functioning at 15% yet did not see her lower extremities inflamed or swollen. At the same time, she was able to walk normally. Tell me why did this doctor recommend she'd go through another operation to check her heart, more anesthesia, and that if they'd find anything she'd have to be transported to San Antonio via helicopter. This doctor CLEARLY wanted another cash grab at our insurance. Thankfully, we declined and got a second opinion from Dr. Cigarroa who told us that her heart was fine and not bad at all as Dr. Walder claimed. I hope FDRM spends the money they sucked out of putting an innocent woman out of work and in so much pain all because they let the situation get worse before addressing it. ALWAYS get a second opinion after going to FDRM.

My review is of the clinic/staff itself. Dr Roman is fantastic, he's Amazing, friendly, all that good stuff. When I first met him in the ICU and when I saw him again at the clinic he still had that same positive energy so he gets 5 stars Now, the ones that be answering the phones/receptionist I just knew with them being rude on the phone that they most likely was going to be the same way in person. I sure wasn't wrong. When I first called them to make an appointment they seemed annoyed, not friendly and just seem they were just having a bad day. I kept having to get rescheduled because of my insurance and each time I called they just seemed like they hated their jobs. When I finally showed up for my appointment the receptionist were the same way. Not welcoming, no smiles, not friendly and seemed to be bothered by questions and overall they just look miserable/tired. I'm all about customer service and usually will not come back to a place where the customer service is bad. Since this was the place that I had to follow up with post hospital discharge, i wouldn't come back here

I recently had the extremely unpleasant experience of accompanying my 89-year old mother to an…read moreappointment with Nikki Angeles, APRN. Whatever her other competencies may be, Ms. Angeles seems to have nothing but contempt for the role of family members as health care advocates for the elderly. My mother, an 89-year old woman with a recent history of A-fib and breast cancer, presented with a number of symptoms that are consistent with A-fib and/or heart failure, including severe shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, and dizziness. In this state, she was disoriented, afraid, and unable to ask questions or otherwise advocate for herself. As her only child, this is my responsibility, and I take it seriously. Ms. Angeles, on the other hand, seems to find the exercising of that role to be an irritation, an annoyance, and a waste of her, apparently, very valuable time. When, for example, I tried to ask simple informational questions about the purpose of tests she was ordering, she cut me off in mid-sentence, rolled her eyes, and attempted to move on with her agenda of bringing the appointment to an end as quickly as possible and moving on to whatever she felt was more important, without answering the questions. I was forced to repeat my questions, which only seemed to make her all the more irritated. On the other hand, Ms. Angeles, was quite pleasant with my mother. The problem is that my mother was in no position to advocate for herself. She was too disoriented and short of breath to ask any of the questions that she would later be asking me on the way home -- questions to which she has the right to know the answers. Questions that, as her health care advocate, I have the right and responsibility to see that she has answered, so that she understands her condition, her prognosis, and the care that is being proposed and/or provided for her. Ms. Angeles does not seem to understand or appreciate the fact that answering the questions of a family advocate isn't just an annoying distraction, but is, rather, and essential aspect of caring for the PATIENT, especially where the elderly are concerned. Hopefully, though, Ms. Angeles is not done learning, and will find a way to incorporate this understanding into her professional growth, so that she will be able to provide an improved level of care to future patients.

I'm not able to give them a zero stars, otherwise I would! I can't even get them to give me a call back and answer to my question. There's no one even there in the first place that can answer my question! They didn't even wait long enough to see how they could help me, and all they did was switch my request over to a voicemail, they did not even try to answer my question at all! I doubt if they're too busy, everyone's busy, but when you say you're not a happy camper, it is pretty ridiculous! The whole office staff needs to be fired and get a whole new staff, I mean it! It probably won't ever happen, but that's how bad this office staff is! I don't know how the doctors can go on doing their practice without a good office staff! I wish someone there would call me back if they have the guts to do it. It's very unprofessional and unacceptable. That's all I'm going to say at this time!
