While working in Varennes for several months I had the opportunity to visit Bistro V at least 10 times between June 25, 2019 and August 27, 2019. It was my absolute favorite lunch spot in the area and with good reason. I'll tell you why.
Atmosphere/Appearance: Set in a small business plaza nestled off of the main road is this gem. It's a part of another restaurant called Merchante which is more for dinner, while Bistro V is for lunch. There's lovely outdoor seating right out front with plenty of umbrellas to shade you from the warm Canadian sun. Inside you have a huge open space with 3 eating areas. It was pretty busy on most days during the lunch hour, but calmed down a lot right around 1:00pm. The restaurant has a lively spirit with good music, good decor and a good layout.
Service: Fannie WAS our favorite server there, but she left and took her talents somewhere else! We were sad to see her go. No one had a personality like her. She spoke great English, made us laugh, looked out for us and treated us like we were some of her friends! Aside from her, service was decent. We just couldn't connect with the other servers like we could Fannie.
Food: So while coming here so much, I've had the chance to try QUITE a few things! I'll get right to it. Lol. Don't waste your time on the wings. The steak tartare is VERY good as well as the duck poutine. HOWEVER, my favorite dish to get there is the duck salad. It's marinated shredded duck, sliced carrots, half an avocado, sesame seeds, beets and a few other ingredients sprinkled with a light dressing. It was fantastic and worth coming back for every time. I loved it.
Value: Totally worth it. You won't break the bank here at all. They have great lunch prices for what's offered.
In conclusion, I loved this place. It was consistently delicious and always what the stomach ordered. Check this place out when you get a chance. read more
