The goulash was very good with large chunks of beef and mushrooms. It went well with the kolsch. If you want something local and simple this place will do. Total cost for 2 beers and a nice serving of the goulash was 9.90 euro.

After having been on a trek up and down a mountain (well, I did catch the train most of the way up,…read morebut I walked half of the way back down again), it was time to look for a place to have a beer, and as I was wandering around Konigswinter I came across this place in what is probably the restaurant strip (sort it - there is also a strip be the Rhine, but that was a little too touristy for me). Anyway, I saw this little pub nestled between what certainly weren't German restaurants, so I decided to duck in for a beer. Not surprisingly, at least for a pub that claims to be very old, the place was charming. It also appeared to be very much what I would call an 'old mans pub' in that the old men of the town seem to congregate around the bar. It's a lovely place and certainly a great place to stop off for a quick beer.
