So glad I stumbled upon this place! My husband and I went on a Sunday night and got seated right away--no reservation needed. They brought out some warm, tasty bread while we waited, and it totally set the tone for the meal. We started with the quiche and French onion soup--both were packed with flavor and so, so good. This was my second time visiting BdeP and as the first time three years ago, when I was visiting the island; the dinner was exquisite, the decor recreates the ambience of a French locale. The owner attended us and made recommendations. We were truly grateful for the hospitality and the trout and the salmon (the dishes we selected) were mouth watering. We are going back soon now that we live here. Oh, and I don't want to forget the soup or the beets Carpaccio. Divine. Unfortunately, we couldn't do dessert. No space left. If you're craving some authentic French Cuisine this is your place. Been open for more than 20 years, they must be doing something right. Inside there is a cool Paris bistrot vibe that transports you there. We came as walk-ins and they sat us right away. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection of French wines. We had a bottle of white Burgundy Chardonnay that paired perfectly with all our dishes. For appetizers we had the escargots, the tartare and the onion soup. All of them delicious, but my favorite was the onion soup. Tasty and not salty. As entree my husband had the Merou (grouper fillet) with balsamic reduction and grilled vegetables, very good. I was between the Flank steak or the entrecôte and the server pointed me in the right direction when he suggested the filet mignon with cracked pepper and cream sauce with gratin scallop potatoes. I don't exaggerate when I say that it's one of the best cuts of meat I've ever eaten in my life. Perfectly cooked, tender, juicy flavorful. They had several dessert options but since the previous suggestion was a hit I asked his advice one more time. He said the strawberry tart without hesitation. Another success. Outstanding! We found Bistro De Paris when staying at a nearby hotel, and what a treat! It was an incredible experience in every way. Our table shared escargot, french onion soup, and mussel soup. For entrees, we had steak au poivre with scalloped potatoes, and a pork dish that was an evening special. We couldn't decide which were our favorites. We agreed that the steak au poivre was the best steak we'd ever had, and the owner suggested an excellent wine for our entrees. For dessert, we shared crème brûlée, and a chocolate mousse. After dinner, Chef Luis stopped by our table. We can't speak highly enough about this incredible restaurant! read more

The food so very delicious. My boyfriend even teared up because it was one of the best steaks he ever tasted. The quality of beef was so tender and the flavor so perfect! We also had the pork pate and French cheese platter with fresh French bread and it was wonderful. The service and atmosphere great quality. The food was incredible, I had entrecôte that was superb and also had escargots (one of the best I've had). The desserts were delicious, we had profiteroles, citron tart and creme brûlée. I didn't even have a chance to sit down before leaving. All of the tables outside were empty. The owner ( I am guessing- a Frenchman, at the very least) insisted I sit at one particular table- ignoring my request to sit at a table of preference (a table for 2- none of them were reserved). It was 2 pm and empty. When I asked if I could sit at the table of my choosing he barked "NO" and when I asked why he lowered his mask to show me his anger "I am showing you to the table I want you to sit at-I don't owe you any further explanations" his tone was aggressive bordering on hysteria. In French, I thanked him for his time, as I had no idea what to say at that moment and left with my heart racing. I used to enjoy meals at Bistro with friends. Never, ever again. read more

The owner is a pompous ass. I have visited this restaurant on at least 5 prior occasions and enjoyed our experiences. However, last night my wife ordered the "soup de jour" which was a vegetable soup. My wife described it as tasting like tasteless liquid flour. We sent it back with the waiter asking that it be replaced with the onion soup. The owner came to the table and told us that we would not like the onion soup because we apparently do not like what comes out of his kitchen. At which point we got up and left. I recommend that all of you future diners show this man that he is fortunate to have our business, especially in this time of Covid-19 by not visiting his restaurant. We will never go back nor will I ever refer this restaurant to anyone read more

My fiance, her parents and I headed here after we tried to go to Jose Enrique for dinner but were not really excited to have to wait 2 hours to be seated. I was kind of surprised it was so crowded on a Tuesday evening, but we decided to move on to another place around the Corner called Bistro de Paris. The feeling of the place was spectacular. It whisked me away to a Parisian state of mind. The menu was entirely in French and Spanish, so if you didnt speak or read either it was a bit of a challenge, but it was fun nonetheless. They had a ton of great traditional French dishes to choose from. We started out with the country pork terrine, and then I ordered the Bœuf bourguignon, or red wine braised beef short ribs, while my fiance order seared scallops in a cream curry sauce. The country pork terrine was absurdly delicious. They served it in a traditional French style with the terrine on bottom, and a layer of creamy fat on top. Getting a bit of each and smearing it on the baguette provided with an additional kiss of mustard and a cornichon pickle, left me in a state of euphoria. Damn that was good. Unfortunately though, my main course and dessert didnt measure up to the terrine. The sauce on my beef was fantastic, but the texture wasnt right. It was chewy, and definitely not in a good way. The flavor of the sauce was rich and fantastic though. The mac and cheese on the side was stellar. I dont know what kind of cheese they used, but it had a really nutty flavor to it, and it was scolding hot the entire meal. My fiance's scallop dish however was outstanding. The scallops were seared so deeply that they had begun to crack like ice, and the creamy curry sauce they were served with only enhanced the flavor of the entire dish. I dont normally think of curry in French cuisine, but this was a spectacular use of it. The dessert was pretty forgettable all together. I ordered a flourless chocolate cake that was very rich, but very bitter and very dry. I really wasnt a fan to be honest. I was really excited about the tarte tatin, but when it came out it didnt really measure up to others I have had. The apples were very thick and they made it difficult to eat. I didnt really enjoy their texture either as they were very mushy. A few ups and downs, but I think this place is worth a visit for sure. I would definitely go back! read more

First time ever having dinner at a French restaurant. Not bad at all. The onion soup was different it was kind of creamy not too many onions, though, I like a lot of onions but good overall. For appetizer we had the gougères de langouste ( some kind of dough stuffed with lobster (5 stars) main course I had the côte de porc à la crème et champignons (pork with mushroom sauce (5 stars) hubby had the brochette de gigot d' agneau sur couscous (lamb skewer w/couscous) I give it a 4, something about the gamey taste that I just don't like and the best part of the meal, profiteroles, glace vanille, sauce chocolat. Wonderful pre-show dinner for two, just 2 blocks from Bellas Artes performing center. Very French, totally pricey but great for couples looking for a good French menu away from tostones and fried fish...... Returned a month ago (March 2018) and again last night. Has become our place to "go to " when attending concerts at Bellas Artes. Last night the dessert pudín took 12 minutes (soufflé like) and was a 10 in texture, taste and presentation. All dinner items are true to their descriptions and perfectly executed. Service is friendly and efficient and the French flair makes it a special night to have a great meal. Wine list was small but classic. The chocolate cake was great. Decor make you feel like in Paris along with music. Only recommendation: eliminate the tv from the Bar. Great place, great food, great experience!!! Second time around: amazing!!! Great food, great atmosphere, Filet Mignon was perfect and Ratatouille a great addition. For whatever reasons and due to the pandemia we had not visited the bistro in more than three years. We were close by and decided to walk in and even without reservations we were well received. The owner with a busboy took our order and provided excellent service. The foot made us remember how good this restaurant is and what we had missed. This place is sophisticated and expensive but totally worth it like the excellent champagnes that decorate the walls. It's an ideal compliment to a visit to the museo de arte down the road. I had a croque Monsieur sandwich which was sublime. I'm not usually a fan of fluffy textures, however I'm now a convert to fluffy cheese. The frites were crunchy on the outside and soft and airy inside. The salad lightly dressed. The staff was welcoming and attentive. I would love to try the brunch next time. Let me start with the food is really delicious. We lived in PR for 8 years, and this was a go place for us. I was excited in my trip back to PR to visit the spot after 10 years out. The owner was the same, we knew he was not the friendliest but good food was guaranteed. The service was absolutely terrible, it took 30min to just get our order, food arrived an hour later, and even to get drinks we had to ask multiple times. Given the terrible labor situation we completely let it go, every business is struggling to get people to work. Now, why one star rating, we paid our bill and left the tip cash. When I checked my bill at home, they charges additional 20% within me ever approving it. Honest mistake? Maybe but probably not. Afterwards I contacted the place and while the owner did answer, he directed me to write to an email with the situation. After 3 days, no answer no apologies, just nothing. There are plenty of great restaurants in PR, save yourself from bad serviced and literally getting stolen. Too bad :( read more

I was surprised that this restaurant didn't show up before in Yelp. It is one of the best in Puerto Rico. Prices are reasonable and the food is wonderful! It is walking distance from the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico so if you are there, I highly recommend the visit. If you know and love French food THIS is the place to go. read more

Authentic French restaurant in the heart of San Juan. I would have never expected to find true French food in this location, but I had a craving for French Onion Soup, so I decided to try it. I lived 10 years in France and this place would be considered an excellent traditional restaurant even in Paris. We tried the onion soup (very good, albeit a little low in salt) and the steak au poivre (don't be fooled, it is not a steak, it is a very large piece of excellent tenderloin) which comes with the gratin dauphinoise, made to perfection. Exellent food and great service! I ordered the three course meal, for each course there was a great culinary surprise. The ratatouille was earthy inside the Phillo dough, the Duck with the mashed carrots were a surprise of flavors . My husband ordered the onion soup, it was as if you are in France, I don't like onions but this soup was amazing. By dessert we thought "we can't possibly eat anymore" but we ended eating the soft profiterols filled with Ice cream and chocolate sauce . It was that good for us. Beautiful restaurant, really takes you to beautiful Paris...but our selection from the menu was not good. Onion soup was ok, the vegetable soup had no flavor whatsoever. The waiter didn't offer any wine or drinks. Our main entree was the agenau confit aux flageolets, the lamb was tender, but lacked flavor, the canellini beans were raw and way too cold. The short ribs beef a cuison... Was just ok, macarroni didn't impress either. creme brulèe was really good. sorry but this is a restaurant i would not recommend. I went to this restaurant one evening prior to the theatre. The ambiance was nice and the food was good but the service was terrible. I had to wait over and hour for dinner and I almost did not make it to my show on time; and this was on a Wednesday! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
