Smelled like a urinal with cat and dog pee and musty smoke. Complained and got sent to another room that was just as bad. Went and got cleaning supplies and urine ordorizer and it was still the worst stay ever. Pee on the boxspring and God only know under the sheets. I was too scared to check. We already paid and had nowhere else to go. Charged 100$ deposit and haven't even gotten that back yet. Oh and then I'm informed this is where they take inmates when they have nowhere to go after being released from prison. NEVER AGAIN!

Dirty hand towels.

There's a pet relief area, with dog waste bags available. The hotel is right next to a gas station/liquor. There are several restaurants & a Starbucks within walking distance. Upon first arrival, the parking lot might seem rather small. However, there is also parking available on the S/SW part of the hotel. The hotel staff was plating breakfast meals due to COVID. Two complaints: The pillows are mediocre. Also, I've stayed at this La Quinta several times. During one stay, the heat & A/C unit worked great. The other stay, it didn't work properly.

After a 24-hour drive from Seattle, I arrived to find an empty, lifeless lobby--no fireplace, no other guests, and even the small retail counter was completely bare. The only staff member present appeared very young and visibly unprofessional, with hickeys covering her neck. I had my ID and credit card ready and simply mentioned that I was a returning guest and asked for the best available room rate. That should have been straightforward. Instead, I stood waiting for about 15 minutes before she told me she needed to call her boss. When I asked if there was a problem, she explained that it was her first day, she didn't know what she was doing, and that she had been left alone at the front desk. That was the breaking point. After an exhausting drive, I wasn't interested in being someone's training exercise. I asked for my card back and left to stay elsewhere. This experience points to one thing: poor management. Leaving an untrained employee alone to run an entire hotel--especially during the holidays--is unacceptable. It's disappointing, because I've historically had good experiences with La Quinta and expected better. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this location.

We went back to the front desk and they took care of us - getting us a new room (which was actually an upgrade)! They said they would refund us completely and after calling them and connecting with Expedia (I booked the room through Expedia) I received a full refund. Unmatched customer service. As far as the Home2Suites hotel goes, the room we had was large and clean. We were only there for one night, but there was an entire living room in addition to the king suite and bathroom. If I have to nit pick something, the soap dispenser in the shower was empty and the extra bedding was missing pillowcases (I like a bed full of pillows). Not even worth taking a star away because the customer service was just outstanding. Breakfast was great in the morning, who doesn't love waffles?! Hot coffee, oatmeal, bagels and toast, fruit, and cereal. Overall, a wonderful stay.

I like not having to go to the front desk to do a formal check in, and I was able to go directly to my room without any issues. Comfy room, spacious. I really like the set up of this hotel; the elevator is in a convenient spot and the pool is right next to it also. The pool is heated which was so nice and I loved the hot tub. My only complaint other than the shower was that the usb plug next to the bed wasn't working so charging my phone was a pain (I forgot the wall charger part in the car). Overall, I'd stay again for sure.

Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, free breakfast with many options, pool and outdoor basketball court. You pay more for these amenities than other chains in the area with comparable rooms (albeit without a kitchen). This is a place I would take my family, but if I was traveling for business on my own dime I may choose a cheaper place potentially with a more central location. All in all a great option in Bismarck.

We booked our room a year in advance, yet somehow ended up in a handicap-accessible room that we never requested. Apparently reservations are more of a fun suggestion than an actual system. The shower was an unforgettable experience. The shower head had water pressure that was fine and shocking coming from what looked like a 2nd hand store showerhead, complete with mold for that authentic "nature spa" feel. The shower itself also featured mold, because apparently cleanliness is considered optional here. The pool? Let's just say if you've ever wanted to swim in what looked like a science fair experiment, this is your chance. The water was murky with green residue clinging to the sides. I wasn't sure whether to swim or call environmental services. To be fair the hotel did realize this fact and shut down the pool for repairs. Good for them. Breakfast was equally adventurous. The hash browns were somehow both warm and still raw. The bacon looked like it had merely been introduced to heat and then immediately removed before things got too serious. If you're on a strict raw-food diet, you'll love it. Our room came with a broken garbage disposal, which was fitting because nothing else seemed to work either. The pull-out sofa bed didn't have pillows. Not one. Not in the sofa bag nor anywhere in the room, we had to wait for the front desk find their hunting license and hunt the pillow fluff animal down. They were finally successful about 1/2 hour later. Maybe they were being protected as historical artifacts or endangered species, who knows at that point. Speaking of historical artifacts, we also discovered what appeared to be petrified animal poop in the room. I'm no archaeologist, but I'm fairly certain it had been there long enough to qualify for the National Register of Historic Places. Outside wasn't any better. The fire pit was broken, with pieces scattered around just waiting to slice someone's foot open. Nothing like a good 'ol potential tetanus shot while on vacation. The patio cushions looked like they had lost a fight with a pack of raccoons, and the patio itself was decorated with cigarette butts and trash. Very classy. The hallways featured broken light fixtures, giving the place just enough horror movie atmosphere to make you wonder if you'd survive the night. Yet, whenever we tried finding maintenance...well...good luck. They seemed to exist only as local legends. As for management, I'm beginning to suspect the manager is either Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster as everyone talks about them, but nobody has actually seen one. The staff was super nice but all seemed incredibly new, as if they had been hired earlier that morning and handed a name tag with the words, "Good luck." This hotel advertises hospitality but delivers an escape room experience where the challenge is surviving your stay. If neglect were an Olympic sport, this place would be taking home the gold.

The bed and pillows were super comfy and we really enjoyed our stay. The room was really clean as well. There was also plenty of parking, which was nice! The location is convenient and the price of the room was reasonably priced. While the room itself was reasonably priced in my opinion, the $75 pet fee seemed steep. We knew this going in, although if we traveled here again with our dog, I'm unsure if we would stay here again or look for a place that doesn't have such a high pet fee. I like that it had a kitchen in the room, which was also very convenient. An all around great place to stay in the area!

The location is very convenient, the price was affordable, and the entrance felt genuinely welcoming, especially with a fireplace going while a bitter cold storm raged outside. The room itself was spacious, warm, and extremely comfortable, perfect for actually resting and recharging. Amenities were IMPRESSIVE. You heard me. heated pool, spa, fitness center, and a business center, all well maintained. Everything felt thoughtfully set up for travelers who actually need comfort, not just a place to crash. The only minor complaint (and it's a fair one) is the $75 pet fee. That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise excellent stay, thats just me being cheap and honest. Will absolutely be staying here again and would recommend it without hesitation! *Special Edit* I wrote the review while in my room so I had to come back and make an edit just to highlight the Breakfast Buffet! Wow! I was so impressed. The area was immaculate and the lady servicing the area was keeping everything FRESH. I'm not talking a continental tea/juice/coffee folks, you'll find the standard cereal, breads, cold bar; But you'll also find a fresh Waffle station, Hot Scrambled Eggs, French Toast Sticks, and Ham! Even the smaller room has enough space in it to spread out and I've done that as I have entirely too much stuff in this suitcase! Small single-cup coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge. A decent work desk with enough power outlets. The wifi has worked well, even during the usual evening slow times. I have not used the fitness area or the pool, but the business center was well stocked. I have had breakfast here a couple of times and it is consistent with the Hampton brand - something with eggs (scrambled or an omelet), a breakfast meat (bacon or ham or sausage) plus bread for toasting, juices, fresh fruit, yogurts and such. It's a decent hot breakfast. The room has been mostly quiet with no noise from the nearby interstate. Some hallway noise - I wish they had installed slow-close doors on all of the rooms. Housekeeping has done a good job of resetting the room and restocking towels and the like. There is a restaurant/bar next door and a supermarket within walking distance. Plenty of parking. I would stay here again. Uh, I *have* stayed here again. [Review 10672 overall, 440 of 2019.]
