The food was below average for the price. A two egg breakfast with toast and not so fresh fruit should not have cost similarly to a hipster cafe in Seattle, SF, or LA. I went in on a weekday around 1:30pm. They were going to be open for only about 1 more hour. There were only two tables sat and it was pretty dead. My daughter and I walked in and it took a little bit to even get greeted. A girl sat me, I think she was rolling silverware then came over to help seat us. Server Took our drink orders and brought my daughter a cute coloring sheet and crayons. It was super slow and I understand they were closing in 1 hour, but that's 1 hour. I hate the guilt that I feel when I know a place is closing soon, like I'm interrupting their 'close out' process. The server was nice and friendly, but after she dropped our food I didn't see her for a long time. I was trying to place a to go order. I almost had to ask the girl rolling silverware to go find her. Then she showed up to close us out and get my to go order. The food was very good, it was pretty fast as well. But just the vibe of the place felt a little off. I also did not like that I was charged almost $3 for my daughters chocolate milk, I could have swore it said it was included in the kids meal on the paper, but I don't know. Anyways. Random late lunch visit for breakfast. Wasn't the best experience but also wasn't a bad one. Really happy that biscuits. Café has a vegan option. Easy to locate and is very cute inside. I have tried the breakfast burrito and the French toast both vegan and very delicious. Stopped in for Sunday lunch. The Rueben was fantastic; the corned beef was tender with crispy bits on the ends and the sauerkraut was super flavorful. The sliced tomatoes were nice and fresh for a side. My wife eggs and the papas fritas, which was a new specialty item. Those were alright, nothing too special about them, but they were fresh. We stopped at Biscuits this weekend for breakfast and wanted to try out the new flights. Made it in around 11a and it was pretty dead after their typical crazy morning rush. So if you want to avoid crowds and waiting I'd go after 10a. We ordered our usual entrees which are the Country Omelette and the Turkey and Egg White scramble. Both were delicious as usual and very large portions! The mimosa flight was okay. The glasses are quite small and it's way less than I've received for mimosa flights at other breakfast restaurants. My husband had the coffee flight and said all the coffees were super good and he felt his portions were sufficient for what we paid. This restaurant has been under new ownership and management since last August, and like any transition, there's a learning curve. New systems, new staff, and new routines don't magically fall into place overnight. Anyone who's worked in food service knows it can take months, sometimes close to a year, for everything to fully settle. That said, I come here for what matters most to me: the food. The pancakes and waffles are still excellent. On my last visit, a technician had just been in the kitchen and the waffle maker had to warm back up, so there was a short delay. Even so, the waffles were worth the wait and tasted just as good as always. Service times aren't as fast as they were under the previous owners, which is understandable with a newer kitchen team, including a cook who only started in mid-December. Even so, their timing is still quicker than many other places serving similar breakfast and lunch fare. As for the ambiance, it's a breakfast and lunch spot. I'm there to enjoy good food and good conversation, not to critique décor. I appreciate that it's comfortable and quiet enough to talk and actually hear the person I'm with. Overall, this place deserves patience and grace while they work through the growing pains of new ownership and kitchen staff. This place has gone downhill. Not sure why I keep trying but today was the last time. My wife phoned in an order for breakfast that I picked up on my way home. My fault for not checking the bag/order. First, they got the order wrong. But, the one thing I did want was corned beef. That was in the bag. However, when I opened it, it was burnt. The black pieces were solid as a rock and smelled charred. The rest of the food wasn't appealing either. Pancakes looked sad, flat and over cooked, biscuits were hard as rocks and the gravy cold. On my actual birthday (9/21/24) I came in with my mom and two friends. my food was good but I can't give this place 5 stars because the Bloody Mary toppings were the only good part of the bloody Mary's and then we got seated and our server was pretty busy and there was a male server who was just standing around doing nothing and then he ended up walking by us and we said "hey excuse me" and he very rudely and with a snappy attitude said "your server is ___" (I forget her name) and so I said "we just had a question, and he said "well your server is ____" very rudely again. Last time I checked you don't have to be our server to answer a simple question. We just wanted to know what was in one of the items. Our actual server was great and this was on my birthday, so to be treated so shitty first thing in the morning is awful. Quite literally the worst breakfast I've ever had. I was here with a group of six- I ordered the easiest breakfast (oatmeal). My food came about ten minutes about everyone else and didn't come with the "extras" like brown sugar. I waited about 20 minutes for the waitress to check on us so I could ask her for the missing items and at this point everyone else was done with their food. I tried to eat it but at this point is was so crispy and dried out. The picture is of the oatmeal with milk in it....the waitress didn't ask how it was or if anything was wrong while clearing my barely touched bowl. It was very unfortunate and poor service. Under new ownership and management (again), the place is kept a bit cleaner than in past years, but the service has gone noticeably downhill, compared to how it was from 2020 to 2023. The food is the same. The new staff's ability to handle busy periods needs a lot of work. Maybe they'll get there. In the past, the appeal was two or three rock star servers who made Happy Valley & 67th Ave Biscuits a great place to get breakfast.
