One of the only things I wanted to buy in Colmar was a postcard for my husband, who was back home in L.A. while I took the kids on their first ever trip to Europe. This was surprisingly hard to come by in the Christmas markets, and I was relieved to find a rack at the entrance to BisCroC, a busy souvenir shop and gourmet market.
My five-year-old went in with me and selected his favorite of the postcards, which he would write on to send to his dad. It was a nice illustrated card with "Colmar" written on it in big block letters.
I went to pay but didn't have cash, and the credit card minimum was--fair enough--€5. I took a look around the store, and while it was full of housewares and local products, Alsatian wines and truffly goods, I was hard pressed to find anything I wanted to carry around France then take home in our one suitcase. I let my child select a magnet to add to his collection.
I think BisCroC is also some kind of cafe, where you can get drinks and maybe some light food. It seems like a useful stop, where you can take care of a variety of needs. I didn't see another place selling postcards the entire day. read more
