I contacted Sue on a Sunday night and she was able to come by the next afternoon. She helped confirm that my son had lip and tongue ties and gave us tools and information to help with a better latch and get the ties revised. When you call, you get a familiar voice that knows your family. Dr Bakshi is a lactation educator as well and was incredibly supportive and helpful on my breastfeeding journey with my first baby. If you're looking for a doctor who not only understands the challenges of nursing and pumping but will cheer you on and educate you, you found her. Their office is also in network with Children's Hospital. When my daughter had issues that required additional specialist support, we were able to see the best of the best in Boston and notes were shared seamlessly with Dr Bakshi's team. Their on call support over nights and weekends is also phenomenal. With a newborn I used the service a few times and always got immediate compassionate care. I can't recommend Dr B and her team enough. My first inclination is to gatekeep this amazing office because it is so small! But every family and child deserves great care.

She is such a supportive and caring person, yet also an RN and seasoned doula who knows her stuff! During labor, Myrna put both me and my husband at ease, and was very hands-on with massage and pressure (but also knew when to give us a little space or time together). She build excellent rapport with our nurses and midwife and kept the room calm and supportive yet also fun. She is unflappable, and great at talking through options when you have a medical decision to make. She helped my husband relax and be present, and also feel OK to grab a sandwich for a few minutes. I can't imagine our births without her awesome blend of kindness and professional skill. After my son was born I had various questions about breastfeeding and newborn care and she was very helpful via text, drawing on the whole Birthing Gently group for expertise. She obtained a history of my pregnancy, delivery and post partum course and then did a very thorough assessment of me and my daughter's mouth, latch, suck and diagnosed multiple barriers to our feeding situation. The previous lactation consultants and nurses that we met with did not do such a detailed assessment, which prevented me from ultimately saving my milk supply. Jen is incredibly approachable, thorough, realistic and skilled. I also found her to be really compassionate and understanding of how difficult and frustrating my personal situation was and my breastfeeding intentions. I have recommended her a few times already and will continue to refer her to anyone. I just wish I called her first!

A few weeks before my due date, Heather came to my home and went over a range of information. It was much easier, convenient and in depth for me as opposed to going to a course, as I could ask her questions and just talk freely. A few days after the birth, Heather again came to my home evaluate breastfeeding and make sure everything was going well. She guided me and helped me feel assured and confident that my baby was getting the nutrition she needed. More than that though, Heather checked on me and was able to talk to me mom to mom and assuage some anxieties I had, which is invaluable for first time mothers. When my baby was rejecting the bottle a couple of weeks before starting daycare and I was panicking, I again texted Heather and she gave me the advice and encouragement I needed along with a list of tips to try. Heather is down to earth and supportive, extremely knowledgeable, easy to talk to and responsive, always answering texts or emails. I'm so glad I contacted her before my due date, as I was prepared and more confident in what I was doing. In the hospital there were numerous consultants and nurses, all of which were great, but it seemed everyone had a different answer or advice. Having Heather as an expert to turn to with a down to earth philosophy allowed me to get a gut check when needed. We arrived at the center at 6:30pm. As a man I super curious about how a natural birth would go. However, I got to experience the most beautiful gift I have ever received up close and personal. It was difficult to watch my wife go through the struggle, however, Kate was on top of every move. She had my wife in a tub, in different positions for different phases of the pregnancy. And come to find out she is coming up on her 800 birth that she has been apart of. To anyone who is looking for an alternative to the hospital experience and can handle a natural birth, I recommend this place with full enthusiasm. Our baby girl was delivered at 11:17pm.
