A beautiful country house, just minutes from Dorchester, it's bill as a wedding venue but also takes Bed & Breakfasts. Very good value either stopping over for work, or for a very romantic weekend. read more

On August 31st, my family and I were on a tour with a wonderful guide (Jill Pretorius of Windsor…read moreDay Tours)... We had already walked all over Winchester, we were on our way to Stonehenge, we were excited and hungry, but also jet lagged and exhausted! Jill brought us to The White Lion joking that, being only 400 years old, it was practically a brand new pub! We came in (mind your head), and were immediately sat down at a big, groaning, family table! Water was served, beers and ciders followed, and then meat pies and fish and chips were ordered all around! This meal was absolutely delicious in the way that only homemade country pub food can be. The cider selection was excellent, and we left refreshed, happy, and ready to take on the rest of our day (mind you, we ALL passed out cold in the van after Stonehenge and on the way back to our hotel)! Thank you so much to the ladies of The White Lion Inn & Pub for your extremely warm hospitality!! Much love! I hope to make it back one day!

I've stayed with friends on fishing trips and also with my girlfriend for a quiet weekend and both times have been treated like a king. The breakfasts are delicious and if you are going on an early morning boat to fish let them know and they'll do you a pack up instead of breakfast. The views from the rooms I've stayed in are fantastic. If you're on the front you overlook the bay and if you are on the back you overlook the harbour (my favourite). There's nothing more tranquil than a quiet early morning harbour. It's very close to the ferry for Jersey (Condor Ferries) so good for that and also close to the town centre but far enough not to be noisy. Without a doubt I'd stay here everytime I go to Weymouth. All my friends now stay here after being converted. Try it, I know you'll love it.

We stayed here a few months ago and it's a very reasonably priced, cosy and homely B&B…read more The rooms are quite small, and the bathrooms very small indeed, but that doesn't really matter as it's just a base from which to explore the nightlife and enjoy the seaside by day. It's clean and well cared for, and we were made extremely welcome by the lovely owners. There's a regular bus service into/from town about every half hour (or every 15-20 minutes during the day, if I recall right) that stops right opposite the front door. The breakfasts are awesome - you get to choose your menu the night before (from simple continental to ful extra-large cooked English) for an all-inclusive price. I only wish I'd not had such a hangover then I'd have been able to do justice to mine!! I'd definately stay there again.
Nicest B& B ever, they were really nice to my kids as well. Would come back. Thanks for breakfast!read more

We booked through a bed and breakfast UK site that (as I discovered) is actually booking.com...so, easy. But I'd suggest contacting them directly to book, if possible. This location was slightly less expensive than comparative prices for similar lodging. Our room on the 3rd floor had a full-sized bed (which was very comfortable), pleasantly-appointed (simple beach-themed decor), complimentary tea/coffee set-up (with electric kettle and biscuits...cookies to us from the US ). There is a shared bathroom for 3 rooms, so not at all crowded even if all rooms are full (there is an in-room sink, which was convenient). We arrived by car and were immediately directed as to where to park, so didn't have problems finding parking (as is typical in resort areas, no matter where you travel). The booking site format was not clear, so I didn't check the box for getting breakfast, but Angela caught that immediately and clarified our choices quickly. She also gave us clear directions about getting to the beach and town center...which is about a 10 minute stroll. Since we only stayed overnight, I can't give much information about the area. We lucked out in having great weather in September and just walked along the beach before eating dinner and retiring early. The beach is nice and choices for dining are varied. Again, I suspect Angela and Sharon would be fonts of local information, if asked. The temperature was warmer than we had expected, so Sharon graciously provided a fan in our room (without my asking, I will say ) and we both slept extremely well. The street is residential and extremely quiet. The accommodations were very nice...although I would suggest having someone explain how to use the shower BEFORE you need it (not a device I've seen before). Even though we arranged our breakfast upon arrival, we completely overslept (a good sign!) and were awoken by gentle tapping on the door (and Sharon's immediate apologies for waking us ). But it was appreciated and well worth it. Breakfast was so really good!! Well prepared quality ingredients (yes, free-range eggs do make a difference). Having said that, I can't help but comment that I'm a bit of a coffee snob (sorry, indicative of living in Seattle ), so I'm not fond of instant. But hey...when in Rome! Otherwise, everything was top notch, as you would expect from a small, independently-operated B and B. As such, I highly recommend this place. Thank you, Angela and Sharon!

Mike a former gas engineers hobby is cooking breakfast and he hands out a lovely breakfast both continental and traditional English. Need it be said that alternatively you can get a generous lunch bag. However tell them the night before. Both Sue and Mike go to extents to get the best produce for their guests which takes a lot out of Mike's rowing in the closeby sea ( about 1/2mile and down with the cable car or down the flowery cliff ) and Sue's endeavors keeping house and linens spotlessly cleaned and well ironed. Last summer my studying daughter and her study friend decided on a days notice to Sue and Mike to spend a week in Bournemouth for study and relaxation no problem even tough close to being fully booked Sue and Mike made our daughters stay possible and not only that took excellent care of the 2 young ladies mercy beaucoup Sue and Mike
