Because we are stereotypical tourists, we ordered the Inglese pizza on our first night. The pizza was phenomenal. It was one of the best pizzas I had in Italy. So okay - that's not what made the night great (great food is a great start). The capstone to a great experience is fantastic service. The staff was funny, friendly, and made sure we had a wonderful time. Naturally we made the death-defying trek back to the restaurant the next day and had an even better time. That night we had the Foie Gras, which tasted good (I can't benchmark it against other foie gras - it was the first I had). They paired it with a horseradish-pear chutney and bruschetta (I'm probably not doing it enough justice) and it had a nice subtle taste. We again had pizza because we're unoriginal - this time a Margherita and Salami pizza. These were great, but not as good as the Inglese. The staff remembered us and took care of us the entire night. It was one of the most memorable experiences we had in Italy - we had a wonderful time. If I get enough money to return to Lake Como we'll go back. Until then - I hope others see the 5 stars have just as great of an experience.

Pricey compared to the 2-for-1 American dreck we are used to, but I don't see Papa Johns offering up speck, wild mushrooms, or buffalo mozzarella. We each ordered a different style and they were both very good, with thin crusts and just the right amount of toppings fired in a brick oven. Four pizzas for us and the other couple took maybe 15 minutes, which is great considering he built the pizzas from the dough up. We finished our meal with combo platters of cacao and nocciola gelato, a combination that tasted like Nutella. My guess is that they're only open weekends during the slow season. That is a shame, since they would have been mobbed during the week my convention was held in the Grand Hotel Imperiale right across the street.

It was also nice that you could order the smaller or larger portion size which is always a great option for groups who like to share and try several plates. I highly recommend trying some of their deserts they are all very good as well. They had some deserts on the menu that I've never had anywhere else before and some I've never even heard of so we decided to try them since our server recommended them so highly and said they were some of the restaurants specialties and they were all very unique and very very good.
