Since my prior review, my wife and I have been consistent regulars for the midnight specials. We…read moreeven plan our days around it (early dinner at 4, gamble gamble gamble, midnight special, gamble, sleep, repeat) I ALWAYS get the 7oz NY steak eggs ($6.95 as of this writing, coming down from $7.49) medium rare, sunny-side-up, sourdough. The steaks nearly always perfectly cooked; not the most tender, but add a little salt pepper and yum. Dip that sourdough in the runny eggs. Ketchup on the hash browns. Now, they charge an arm and a leg for coffee, so we stick with the water. And watch those salt shakers, I swear they have xtra large holes and will spew salt like a vegas storm drain. Service, almost without exception prompt, courteous, on the ball. Lines form early, but really, if youre will to wait a bit (like 12:45am) no line). So high five for the midnight special team.

When we first got seated, we waited for more than 15 minutes to order but we didn't even know who our server was. We kept looking around but everyone seem to be focused on their own designated zones and never came to us so we left since they took forever & wasted our time. Came second time for the $7 steak breakfast deal and it was okay. They used the regular toast while other places would use sourdough / thick crust. My steak was kinda spongy and it didn't have any taste to it. Overall was okay, vibes were off. Wouldn't come unless i need a quick breakfast meal which starts from midnight - 8am but people started lining up before midnight FYI

After inserting my money and beginning to place my bets, an elderly gentleman abruptly approached me and claimed he had credits on the screen I was using. Unfortunately, the situation quickly escalated. He repeatedly poked my back and shoulder while insisting I was in his seat and using credits that belonged to him. The exact amount in question was unclear, as I had been moving from game to game and had not been keeping track. The gentleman continued raising his voice, getting in my face, and placing his hands on me, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. The dealer handled the situation as professionally as possible and immediately contacted security once physical contact was made. I greatly appreciated his efforts to de-escalate the situation and maintain professionalism throughout the incident. When the floor manager arrived, she attempted to resolve the matter and kindly offered compensation in the form of lunch or dinner, which I accepted and appreciated. While the experience itself was upsetting, I am thankful for the dealer's professionalism and for the staff making an effort to address the situation. I was about to file a complaint and possibly call the police. At the end...I still feel like she favored the elderly man because he was Caucasian male and old. This issue could have been resolved if I felt understood & assured I was in the right.

Staying at South Point for my 4th annual birthday trip to Vegas is one of the best decisions I've…read moreever made. It was my best trip ever! I really enjoyed the people, the atmosphere, the variety of things to do, and the lower prices on everything from drinks to the fancier restaurants. South Point has plenty to offer like: a $5 craps table, race book, sports book, bingo, 64 lane bowling alley, multi-screen movie theater, lounge shows, an arcade, an arena where they hold equestrian and rodeo type events, bars/lounges with reasonably priced drinks, and more. Those entertainment and dining opportunities attract quite a few families with young children who come to enjoy the day. That is something that I've never seen in a casino. Easter Sunday parents and their children were all dressed up and waiting to be seated at the Garden Buffet. South Point truly is a family friendly place. The reason why I chose Las Vegas for these annual trips is because I love playing poker tournaments. On previous trips I've stayed on the Strip and would travel to South Point for one or two. Due to the friendly and welcoming staff, large attractive poker room, plentiful cocktail waitresses, and nice players this has always been my favorite place to play. Seven days a week South Point has one every four hours from 10:10am - 10:10pm. The entry fee for all but four of them is just $120. So this year reversed gears, and played seven of my nine tourneys right here, and had a ball. I even got to play Crazy Pineapple for the first time ever. :-) Thank you to all the dealers in the poker room for helping to make the games so enjoyable. To those at the race book for helping me learn how to work the monitors at the seats. Those at the $5 craps table for patiently reminding me of how much I can bet for the odds. As well as the very friendly waitstaff at the Garden Buffet and Coronado Cafe. I truly appreciated everything you did to help me. :-) I guarantee that you'll have a great time, for a day or a stay, at South Point. :-)

(*Original plans were for a theme park vacation in Southern California, but gas prices are crazy in Cali. Due to the Iran war. And probably illegal tariffs.) First, we checked out Red Rock Station and Durango, but nope, those single night prices were $$$. Seriously, wowza. Keep in mind, this would be for two nights. We were thinking of the M Resort and the South Point Hotel. So, we checked on pricing, and the South Point was a Win for us. Plus, there are a lot of restaurants that I prefer and like, as compared to the Stations properties. (The Spa and the Fitness Center are undergoing Renovations.) So we finally did it. We had a staycation here. It was very nice. The room was comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was exuding a spa-like atmosphere. (Since many of the past hotel stays were CA theme-park related, that's my frame of reference.) We spoke to many visitors and one of them said it's much nicer than The Orleans. The room smelled very nice, a pleasant floral scent. It happens everywhere, the door slamming by other guests was annoying. The chair leg scraping was also noisy. Being honest. Restaurants we visited: Steak & Shake, Garden Buffet, Coronado Cafe, Big Sur Oyster Bar, Del Mar Deli, & Starbucks. Portion sizes are pretty large. Details for each restaurant will be a separate review. We also went to Bowling- opens at 7 am, the Pool/ hot tub- opens at 10 am, the movie theater- we watched a movie, and both gift shops. There was a Bowling - Womens Championships event and a Rodeo event. It was very busy. Many staff members we met were very nice. Final thoughts: we would do a staycation again here at this Property. Highly recommend this property.

On very rare occasions, it would fail to respond to my remote (or my HomeLink) when returning home, but would grudgingly work after repeated retries and incantations. It did not fail inside the garage, nor when the garage door was open. But over the last year or two, that behavior gradually worsened until I could not open the door at all when returning home. (Up until then, my wife's HomeLink was working just fine. Go figure. Our erstwhile Welsh Corgi favored her too.) Eli, from Pacific Experts, came by to check it out and attributed the problem to the aging electronics of the unit, which he determined to be 13 years old (in human years). That does indeed match the average lifespan of garage door openers (according to Chatty McChatface, my AI chatbot), so we agreed with Eli's advice to replace it with a new one. He offered three options for new openers: a basic one, a mid-level one with some extra features, and a lotsa-features model. We chose the mid-level because it could operate over the internet via a phone app (open, close, and check door position). It also included battery backup. Eli quoted this at $650 installed. My pal Chatty pegged that price to the very outer threshold of reasonable pricing; sort of like the von Kármán line on your way to outer space. But when I like a service company, I don't usually like to pit them against competitors in a bidding war. There are weeds you can wander into. Pacific Experts' written estimate arrived by e-mail with just two line items: (1) parts: $650, and (2) tax: $29.33, for a total of $679.33 (labor was subsumed in "parts"). So (by my calculation) their price for the Craftsman CMXB4230 works out to $354. FYI, this model is widely available for $224 (e.g., Amazon, Lowe's). After I whined peripherally about the extra $29.33, PE removed it from their estimate. Back to $650. Mark said that they could install the unit as soon as I wanted, so Eli showed up on time the next morning, Sunday. It took him about one hour to remove the old opener (which went to live on a farm in Winnemucca) and replace it with the new one. Eli is so experienced and skilled at this install that it was fun just watching him, which I did. He did the whole job without a wasted step, set up our HomeLinks and the myQ app on my iPhone, then patiently demonstrated the system, while also filling me in about his background and family. Call him maestro. The assembly part of the instruction manual includes about 30 pages of microscopic text, which of course Eli didn't need. I'd guess that a competent DIYer would require most of a day to accomplish as much. All recent Craftsman openers are just rebranded Chamberlains. You will find two versions of the myQ app in your app store: Chamberlain myQ and Craftsman myQ. Depending on what you read, these apps are either (a) identical, or (b) nearly identical. Eli recommends downloading the Chamberlain version, as do I. I ran into trouble later when installing the myQ app on my wife's iPhone. I had worked with Eli setting up my own app, including configuring it to work with our home router, and I knew the procedure. I wrongly assumed that I needed only to repeat the same steps on the other phone. I called Eli for help but it was ultimately too awkward (for me, at least) to resolve over the phone. The next morning Mark promptly came by and correctly set up my wife's phone. I like the Craftsman CMXB4230. It's quiet (the unit it replaced was also belt drive, so it might have been noisier just because of age). The motor starts smoothly and slows gently as the door reaches full open or full close; very nice. It does not include light bulbs. I put two new LED bulbs in (specifically made for garage door openers - that's important) and they illuminate our garage very well; the unit's wall plate includes a switch to also turn them on or off independently. The CMXB4230 includes a 1-year warranty on parts, accessories, and battery, and a 5-year warranty on the motor and belt. Pacific Experts gives a 1-year warranty (although that is not stated in writing). Pacific Experts Garage Door Service deserves a 5-star rating because of their excellent customer care, quality products, and expertise. Take time to satisfy yourself that their fees are reasonable. Do remember that good businesses are expensive to run. And Eli's wife is expecting their fourth child shortly.
