When walking over to Chicken Shop, I came past Megan's and was shocked to find out they were closing this branch. I have only once been to Megan's in St. John's Wood, but thought it was a very welcome addition to the area. Unfortunately, it is no more. But now there is a new Chicken Shop branch just around the corner. Chicken Shop is a modern restaurant chain that currently expands and opens new branches in different parts of London. The shop in St. John's Wood is light with a big window front and a beautiful, simple design. I was wondering about how busy they were on a Saturday afternoon, even more as they just opened. Since the chicken restaurant a bit further down across the road had closed down some time ago, perhaps they simply got here at the right time. The place is bigger than it looks at first. I was given the option and decided to sit in the front room facing the window, not the area at the back nearer to the kitchen. The design is modern and the dark wood creates a nice and warm setting. The music is kind of loud, but as this still is a fast food place, I think it is acceptable and I did not really get too annoyed by it. Ordering is simple, because chicken shop does not have an extensive menu. You can basically only choose between different sizes of chicken from the spit. To leave space for the dessert - recommended by my lovely waitress - I ordered a quarter chicken. When asked for my preference, I opted for breast meat. I did not have to wait long until my pile of juicy, tasty chicken arrived together with golden, crispy crinkle-cut fries. While the chicken on the bone was delightful with a good crust, the fries were even better. They could only have been improved with more interesting seasoning, but as far as frying goes, those chips are perfect. When I asked for the deep-filled apple pie for dessert, I was surprised when this guy turned up at my table with a whole, hot apple pie. He cut out a good-sized piece for me and I greatly enjoyed it with a jug of cream. It was piping hot and full of apple flavours. Chicken Shop in St. John's Wood is now most likely the best place for a piece of chicken in NW8. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is clean with a modern yet warm atmosphere. Yes, the chicken is delicious, but the chips alone are worth a visit.

Management seems to be completely unaware of its own operational problem. The only redeeming factor is that the food is okay but is expensive because of the neighbourhood. Highly recommend against coming here unless you are not hungry which really defeats the point of going to a restaurant.

I wasn't feeling very spicy, so I got The General, which is the most non-spicy sandwich option - so good and the chicken flavor took center stage. There are plenty of other options for those looking for more of a kick. It's a cute little hole-in-the-wall space with a few tables outside, and more seating downstairs. Very friendly staff.

I was not familiar with sour drinks, except maybe a whiskey sour or an amaretto sour, but they had all different types of sour drinks, bourbon, tequila, and gin based. I had a gin-based drink that was raspberry flavored and very sour and yummy. My friend had a chocolate cherry bourbon-based one that was quite good, and my sister had a tequila spicy sour. However, the chicken is the star here. I ordered fried chicken that came with pickled watermelon, it was delicious perfectly cooked and seasoned properly. The pickled watermelon was a lovely balance and a nice surprise. My sister and my friend got chicken tenders. I think we missed the mark because the chicken sandwiches seem to be the thing to order here. As we saw them coming out, we were disappointed that we had not ordered the sandwiches, which are piled a mile high and come in all different interesting combinations. They have a kimchi chicken sandwich, a Korean style chicken sandwich etc. If we go back, I would definitely order one of those. This place is not touristy. It was filled with locals at dinner time, and it was quite a scene, but not a pretentious one. The service was friendly, and the and the restaurant is reasonably priced.

Wycombe's latest chicken shop did not live up to it's name. There was little to no "delight" in the…read moreexperience whatsoever. I had been in there twice before, but due to the slow service I had given up and gone to the much more trust worthy and efficient chicken cottage next door. However, this time I decided I would stick it out for curiosity's sake. The nicely decorated and spacious layout of the "restaurant" was nullified by the disgusting state it was in. There was rubbish left out not just on the tables, but all over the floor, which was soaking wet and nearly slipped me up several times. I then got to the counter and could see the dirty floor was just as bad behind the counter in the cooking area. Very unhygienic. There were Kids running around jumping all over the furniture and screaming babies making it impossible for me to communicate effectively with the server. Not the environment I want to be in when purchasing my hangover cure. Furthermore, I had to wait 15 whole minutes for my food. 15! completely defeating the purpose of "fast food". I could have been served in a busy restaurant quicker, whereas today there was only a couple of other customers. It's lucky my bus was also late. The price was not too bad. £6.40 for 2 pieces of chicken, 3 wings, a tower burger with chips and a drink. There was no pepper to be had from the side counter and no sauces offered. I was also not impressed when I was given 7 up after asking for coke, but as it had taken so long and almost made me miss my bus I had no time to complain. The food itself was not too bad, though nothing special. The tower burger was sufficiently dressed with the right amount of mayonaise and lettuce. The burger was well structured and evenly composed. Nice bread, chicken not too dry. Was happy with it, but was not worth a 15 minute wait. The chips were marginally better than chicken cottage, but far from delicious, and as expected I didn't finish them. The wings weren't too bad, but if you like hot spicy wings you'd be very disappointed. I'm not a spice lover at all and I didn't need to reach for the seven up once while eating the wings. The breading itself was nice, good orange colour, seasoned well but patchy and didn't cover the wings very well at all. The chicken pieces were average. Very dry and did not come of the bone very easily. All in all I was not impressed and won't be returning. Not a patch on the chicken next door and the service was ridiculous. Given it a two star rating on the grounds that if I search my memory hard enough I'm sure I must have had worse at some point....I think.

Don't normally eat out nowadays as I'm on a strict budget at the mo, but then this joint is specifically there to accommodate for people like me. So I've found myself giving in and treating myself a few times more often than I care to admit... I can't remember the exact name of the dish I always order. I don't think it's on any of the menus I've seen online... it's a lamb kofta in pita ensemble, which is £3.50 (although I usually order it with chips and a drink, bringing the total to £4.50). The lamb kofta arrives like a burger. Which is what you'd expect. While not quite the penultimate kebab experience it's pretty darn tasty. I always order it with chilli and garlic sauce, and am always very impressed... When I opt for the chips in addition (which is almost always) I am treated with a veritable plethora of my favourite potato snack. If Peri-Peri Original did bad fries (which is sometimes the case with budget fast food joints) I wouldn't be trumpeting this fact. But, as it is ; lots of lovely fries for me to NOM! Cheapest place to get kebab-ish take-away in the Stockwell area. Check it out!
