Personally I enjoyed it very much!! I am a regular guest at Karlsrud Mat og Vinhus. For the most part we all enjoy our food, however their "spicy" and "slightly spicy" selection is totally off. Some of their "spicy" food is not spicy at all however my Thai red curry chicken that was unmarked would in my book be classified as "slightly spicy". Same goes for Biff Gongbao which as marked "slightly spicy", was not spicy at all! Still everything taste amazing (although not as expected)! When it comes to the service I am always pleased. The staff is attentive and pleasant and always make sure our glasses is full and that we are having a good time. In fact I was very surprised that the waiter once offered my mom a new dish when she embarrassedly pointed out that her food was not spicy as indicated. Thumbs up to the waiter who really followed through on this something that is very un-Norwegian! You can totally feel that this is a neighborhood restaurant by the ambiance, but it is totally worth the trip out to Karlsrud if you are not a local.

To the waiter's surprise, I knew the actual Chinese name. When I received my dish, it was floating in sauce, full of veggies ( which ate used as fillers), they used cashews instead of fried peanuts, and lacked the essence of Sichuan cuisine..."mala." I never knew why most Chinese restaurants water down their dishes and think that the original taste will not cater to westerners? I am not Chinese, but my Sichuan cooking is far superior to the dish I received here.

Their new location is quite nice and includes an outdoor seating area which is excellent during summer. Hylla is a typical neighborhood restaurant, filled with locals that all seam to know each other. From friends and family I have heard talk about quiz night every first Thursday of the month, and regular karaoke night. I must admit the crowd is a little older than most places that I hang out, but I still think it is great that a neighborhood restaurant tries to be a little bit creative and bring people together! I am definitely getting a crowd together to try these things out! The waiters are friendly and helpful, and I have yet to have a bad meal. I can still remember from Hylla's old location that the food was good. As I have grown older and wiser since my last visit, I do miss some more vegetables on my plate. Still the portions are generous and you will not leave hungry. Their menu has a great selection of different dishes, regular and spicy, so there really is something for everyone. I also must say, I was IMPRESSED by how fast we were served our food on a Friday night, big plus for fast service especially since I was hungry long before walking in.
