We checked out this little place this past weekend. We stopped by around 7PM and the place was pretty packed (it was a very hot Saturday). We found parking around the corner at a meter and we made our way to the store. The place is big with a few chairs and two tables for waiting. The front counter has a small register and you can see into one of their ice cases. We ordered a sandia loca, 3 Diablitos De Mango, One Takis Locos, and 1 Mangos Con Chamoy (I think, I forgot the name). Our total came out to be $40.00 even but with my check in yelp, I got 20% off. (BY THE WAY, I have to give a special shoutout to the owner. We paid and I didn't realize about my check-in deal until after they had rung us up and they refunded me the $8.00 back. SUPER SWEET OF HER!) The treats were very fresh tasting and delicious. The takis locos were my favorite (and I'm currently craving them right now). They were very delicious. My family really enjoyed them as well. The customer service was a bit lacking from the girl at the front counter but I gave her a break since it was a Saturday night and it was crazy packed with less than 30 minutes to closing time. Overall, this place is great to grab a quick treat on a hot day. The products are DELICIOUS and very satisfying. I come here to buy snacks for my coworkers and I. I usually get the Manzana Loka, Chamango, Tamarindo Raspado, and the Esquite. Once we even got the Sandia Loka. Everything is fresh and delicious. The place is clean and staff is friendly. The Sandia Loka is huge - even my 4 coworkers and I couldn't finish it. It comes loaded with gummy bears and Tamarindo sticks, alongside other candies for your sweet tooth. By far my favorite thing, however, is the Manzana Loka. For the price of six dollars you get a container with delicious apple slices that have Tamarindo on them, and chopped up fruit and peanuts, covered in Chamoy. My first time visiting this establishment. Maria & Karina were working at the time of my visit. I am not sure what Maria's attitude was but she placed my order ticket to the side meanwhile the orders behind me were served. I waited & waited until I seen that they were barely working on my order. It took 23 minutes until they got to my order. It felt so personal & I never met her a day in my life until this time. Not sure what her issue was but I hope she figures it out her service was awful. I make 3x what she makes working 8 hrs unacceptable. As for Karina you are just as to blame. I came here with high expectations! That is absolutely wrong, never do that even if it's a high rated place. The pictures on the walls looked amazing and you want to order everything but the customer service is bad! We ordered a piña colada smoothie, a banana split and a esquite (corn with mayo and cheese). First of all, as boss lady and I entered the place both girls working there did not even acknowledge us even when we were both at the register they made us wait and did not even say hi; we were the only customers there. Boss lady did not pay attention to this as she was looking at the pictures. One of the girls came from the back and finally took our order. Boss lady wanted to pay cash but she did not have the money handy so I handed the girl my debit card and she right away mentioned to me she would charge me 50 cents. I said it was fine but before she swiped the card boss lady found her money so she told the girl to give my card back to me. She did right away but gave my mother attitude! I did not like that! We waited almost 30 mins for the three items we got and they were not even worth the money nor the wait. The pina colada smoothie had a bitter after taste and did not taste like pina colada at all. Boss lady told one of the girls about this and she just say I am sorry but never once offered her to make a new one for her. Now the esquites were watery and they did not even have enough cheese and mayo. I can find better esquites in echo park lake they even put butter in there and in this place don't. The only thing okay was the banana split but nothing too grand to talk about. We Were the only customers there and the tables looked like they have not been wiped the entire day, and there were napkins on the floor. Parking is terrible and to be honest with you I would not waste my time to try to find one to come here. We only did because boss lady just had her mani/pedi a few spots away. I'd like my raspado with extra CHAMOY (yes CHAMOY) it's a syrup... like hot sauce... the raspados are an ice drink. You'd think that the business would accommodate a daily loyal customer. I'm not cheap far from it! But there's a guy that works there. He works afternoons or nights.. might be the owner might be a worker. But either way he's been a little rude from time to time. No big deal! The chick in the day would make up for it by being so sweet. But the very last time I ordered he answered the phone. And was so rude I knew it would be my very last time ordering! First of all on the doordash menu customers dont have an option to add extra toppings exc... I've been religiously ordering from this place for 4-6 months DAILY (literally everyday) . But this particular day the guy gets on the phone and rudely says it's gonna cost more for CHAMOY lol... ok no problem. I told him wouldn't be a problem but how would I pay extra. My daily amount was 20.00-40.00 dollars ok! So I didn't quite understand why adding a lil more CHAMOY was such a big deal. He rudely says it's gonna be more... ok but how will I pay it. He says I'll add the charges on after u order! Omg I've never had a business on doordash do this! He charged me an extra 2.00 for each drink for CHAMOY!!!! So basically 4.00 extra on my card without me knowing. It sucks cause I would have been a life time customer! Raspados are already 9.00 I would buy 2-4 a day to make it worth their while. It's a ice drink. Like let a customer get some CHAMOY for .50 or so. I found it tacky and I felt like they didn't appreciate me being a loyal customer! One of the cheapest places I have seen for a Rasapdo. It was not busy when I got there so I got my order quick, a Pina Colada and Strawberry & Mango. Parking is limited so we parked around the corner and walked up. Would mos def come back to try more flavors. Staff was helpful since I do not know that much Spanish. Great food! Authentic food but awful customer service. The lady on the register clearly never got some tip on how to deal with customer's complaints, I ordered a chicken torta and the chicken was breaded, I told her this is not what I had ordered that the chicken should not be breaded and she said that how they do it there and that is how tortas are made. I told her that she should have told me, she said next time you should ask with the most awful attitude, and she said if you don't want it you can have your money back. The problem is in the way she said it so incredibly rude. This conversation could have been over with her just apologizing or saying sorry. To the owner of this place, here is some feedback to you as future reference. Train your employees that when a customer has a problem they apologize and teach them to say they are sorry and try to fix the problem. They do not gain anything on being rude, they lose business for you. I'll be finding another place to go. Goodbye Ps: This is Saturday at 2pm, I don't know her name but she is wearing a white shirt and clearly she does not need this job. This place is a hidden gem. It's located just outside of DTLA and if you blink you'll miss it because the store front is completely covered by trees. I was craving a fruit smoothie & some fruit one afternoon so I took it to Yelp to find me a place near by. It was a weekend afternoon so I was lucky enough to find parking right outside the front at one of the meters (which was free during the time!). I walked in & saw a few people waiting for their orders & decided to go with a Papaya smoothie & just plain cut fruit (Mango, Papaya, & Mango). It does take a little time for the orders to be prepared but it is definitely worth the wait. The fruit is fresh & ripe; they also don't skimpy on the smoothies with a bunch of ice & less fruit because you can definitely taste it in the smoothie. It's like the fruit stands you find on the street corners but I feel like it's better quality, variety, & taste. I will say it is a bit pricey, but understandable because fruit usually is not inexpensive. They do have plenty of options of fruit & different menu items. So many wonderful choices!! It's SO DIFFICULT to decide what to order!!! I try and narrow it down by evaluating whether I want something spicy, sweet, or savory and going from there. All of the ingredients are so fresh and tasty, there are DOZENS of possible combinations of deliciousness to be had! My two huge issues with this place that I always have to consider before going are parking and service. Needless to say, finding parking anywhere near Alvarado Street and Pico Blvd. will always be a challenge that will only be prevailed by good luck. If you don't mind walking a little to find decent parking than this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Honestly, I am so surprised to see so many yelpers mention that this place has quick service. I have come here 3 times, on completely different days, at completely different times and the service was incredibly slow. Yesterday I ordered a coconut raspado and mangoneada and waited nearly 20 minutes for it. There was only another customer in the store and she said she had already been waiting 30 minutes. I must say though, the wait is definitely worth it if you have the patience. Every item is meticulously made regardless of how many other orders there are. Nothing is worse than getting a raspado that is only 1/4 flavored and the rest ice, but I assure you such an atrocity would never happen here. Ordered Tostilocos and a lime raspado. I asked them to not put lots of chile on my tostilocos ("make it very mild") and they were REALLY hot when I got them. Couldn't finish it. They weren't very good either. The "lime raspado" was literally a cup of pure lime juice with some shaven ice on it. No sugar, no syrup whatsoever. Couldn't even drink it since it was extremely sour, when I asked one of the ladies if they put sugar on it they just said NO, then almost had to beg them to fix it, which they tried, but didn't work. Last time I checked raspados are supposed to be sweet. The place wasn't very busy but they took forever to complete my order. We got sandia Loka and its half a watermelon filled with mangoes, jicamas, cucumbers, gummy worms and many more with chamoy sauce and other sauces lol. It was so good. Good for sharing.
