I wandered in while waiting to go on Brum Radio and ended up buying my lunch of a thai vegetable wrap and a super red juice. Both were fresh, healthy and wonderful and also massive shouts to the woman behind the counter who was friendly happy and well informed about all of the products. We ended up having a lovely chat after I had paid my £5 for my food/drink....I left smiling and went to eat sat on a wall, in the sun. Ideal. If you are veggie, vegan or health conscious definitely pay this place a visit. 5* experience!

I'm going to be honest, I was disappointed that they don't sell all vitamins here and most of them were for body building. However they did sell a few common vitamins such as E and C. When I asked the woman questions like "Have you got anything to help the immune system" and "What does this vitamin do" she didn't have a clue! Half stuff she said sounded like she'd just made it up and the rest she was reading of the packet. I could do that!! I think the shop could massively improve if their staff new everything about their products and how an individual and keep fit and gain the body they want, leaflets may also help this too. They could also sell a few more common vitamins, not just body building ones. This shop is for people who want to build muscles but I'd recommend doing your research before you buy anything from here.

The main reason that I go in there is for the occasional vegan treats that they have, which are a wide range of faux meats and cheeses, dairy free cheesecakes and ice cream and mixes/spreads. The sales staff I never find to be very accomodating, I have to be honest. A couple of them have been quite snippy with me before, but you can't be too picky about where you shop when barely anywhere in the area stocks things that you can eat! The shop is huge and I often find I spend a lot longer in there than anticipated. I visited with my mum last week as we wanted to stock up with some yummy health food goodies and grab some supplements. They carry a lot of general food and health food items - stocking items I can't manage to find anywhere else (Oat Bran) and having a wide choice within each range. Upstairs they also have a health beauty department. The staff are polite and fairly friendly. The only drawback is having to spend over £5 to use your card. My mom wasn't offered her OAP discount either - make sure you ask!

For an alternative, fresh answer to the supermarket, Box Tree's is definitely the place to stop by. Eggs, jam, spreads, fruit, you name it, they've got it. I also highly recommend the ginger spread they sell here for £2.30, which adds great taste to any toasted breakfast. The only issue I had in the shop was getting someone to serve me. The new owners have taken everything we love about One Earth and given it a new lease of life, with lots of new products I have never seen on sale in Birmingham before For example the amount of cheese they stock is ridiculous and certainly 100% Vegan's strong point. As someone who is newly diagnosed with a wheat intolerance, I found so many items in store that I had I was allowed to have and found impossible to buy anywhere else. This shop has been a fixture of the Cotteridge High Street map for as long as I can remember…read more Immediately recognisable as an old school butchers by the red, draping awning hanging from the shopfront, this is the sort of butchers shop we'll all miss when and if they eventually succumb to the financial might of the big supermarkets. On weekends the queue can snake around the small customer area of the shop, which tells you about it's local popularity and the quality of the service. The meat is usually of a high quality and there are often some interesting seasonal offerings in the window display to tempt you off the high street - their pre-prepared BBQ meats being a good seller. Prices are reasonable and the service is exactly what you'd expect from a long-established local butcher. Good stuff!
