This was my first trip to a Binny's ever! I know, right? How is this possible? It was just meh. Maybe not even meh,actually. The staff were really helpful but the selection pretty much sucked and it wasn't nearly as big as everyone described them to be. It was like a crappy Walgreens of liquor. Bad store set up and seriously lacking coolers. 3 stars for this bad boy... high tail your ass down to Sam's Beverage Depot on Butterfield for the Mecca of all alcohol... it's bigger than a Target and they stock their sh*t up to the roof. read more

Wow! Not a lot of love for this Binny's from my fellow Yelpers and yet this place comes through for me time and time again. Maybe it's the size of my order each time ($2000+) of beer, wine, soda, mixers etc for the large parties I host at my home. They pre-chill what I want cold, bring me tons of ice to keep it cold and once,even lent me one of their beer tubs on the spur of the moment when I realized the caterer forgot to bring one (usually you have to pay a deposit for those) Their guys deliver on time and are pleasant to deal with putting everything where I want it even if it means wheeling it into my garage from the street. And they sell on consignment- so if I bring back $500 worth of alcohol the next day- its no problem. In fact- they will even send one of their staff out to the parking lot to get it out of my car and take to the service desk. They are customer focused as a couple of times I couldn't find the wine or port or whatever it was I was looking for. Instead of just pointing me in the general direction- they took the time to introduce me to their "wine woman" who personally helped me select the perfect bottle. I also like that they will order any wine that I want if they don't carry it in stock. And that it usually comes in within a couple of days. And don't miss their gourmet cheese shop in the back. Beautiful wedges of cheeses that go so well with the wine. Liquor stores are pretty much the same to me. It's the level of service that you get that differentiates between functional and a good shopping experience. Binny's sets the mark that I judge others by because they make it easy for me. Manager Pete, is rude and has an attitude. After realizing my loyalty voucher for 15% off was only valid until Saturday I politely requested the manager to honor it. He offered 10% with an eye roll and a tut, numerous times. I found myself apologizing for my oversight. I never ever use coupons, ever!!! The one time I do I get the date wrong and then I'm made to look like an idiot. My bill came to $350... I left the full cart and headed over to Oak Brook Binny's, they honored the 15% and I spent even more. Thank you Oak Brook. Cleaner store and very polite team. I was more than happy with the offer of 10% but when it's offered with a bad attitude and rudeness, I'll take my business elsewhere. I'm a business woman myself, I deal with the public everyday. I would say I am pretty brand-loyal when it comes to where I purchase my booze. Binny's, hands down, is my place. It just is. Typically, I can be seen in the South Loop location, belly-up to the bar or meandering among the isles of craft beer. It's my home away from home. It's where I go to make everything all better. I find my Zen among the spirits. This could really be my church... but I digress. This is a review. A review for a Binny's far away from the South Loop.... A review for the dreaded Willowbrook Binny's. I was house-sitting in the burbs and ran out of tasty Left Hand JuJu Ginger Beer, so I made the trek to the Willowbrook Binny's in hope of procuring more elixir. Disappointment fell over me when I learned they did not have my brew of choice... nor did they have any alternative brand of Ginger Beer. I settled for six pack of Three Floyds Gumballhead (Which was on sale, SCORE!). I wandered up to the checkout counter, only after being given nasty looks by the gourmet market girl. Figuring I didn't really need the additional 500 calories and 50 grams of fat the chuck of brie I was drooling over would impose on me, I gave her a nasty look back and kept on walking. Alas, the checkout. The final stop. I walked up to the cashier, smiled and said hello. "This is on sale, do you have a Binny's card?" he replied in a huff tone. "Actually, yes. But you see, I am house sitting and don't have my keys, so I don't have my card... I am in the system but they are never able to find me and... and..." Anyway, I was rambling on, being friendly and cute when he cut me off. He cut me the fuck off. Listen people, I am not frequently nice. I am typically a bitch from hell but for whatever reason I was in a good mood. I was able to look past they nasty-look-giving-market-girl and the fact that they didn't have the beer I really, really wanted... Despite all of that, I was nice to the cashier... and cashier treated me like crap. He got all shitacular because he couldn't find me in the system. All cranky because I didn't know which zip code they had me in the computer under... 60608? 60609? Yes, dude, they are real zip codes and they are next to each other. And I have lived in both of them in the past two years. Suck it you suburban living swine. Finally we cleared up the Binny's card issue and it was time to pay. Homeslice couldn't get my card to scan and got all huffy and puffy with me. Listen, buddy, I have used the crap out of my debit card recently... I can show you a bank statement to prove it. Sadly, I can also show you just how much of my paycheck goes the company that pays your salary. It's not the card, its you. YOU! Sensing his poor little head may explode, I quickly threw him a different card, which thank god, scanned without incident. He threw the receipt and a pen at me after mumbling something about how it wasn't his fault my card was bent.... I was the bigger person and said thank you threw my smile. I left feeling taken and abused by this suburban Binny's. I forked over $9 for six beers of a brand I didn't even really want and was abused by Binny's staff the entire time. I find I would rather frequent thins location as opposed to the one closer to home in Bolingbrook, for a few different reasons. First off, the staff here is just ten times more pleasant and knowledgeable when it comes to the spirits they sell. This location seems to have a particular expertise when it comes to champagne. Secondly, it's set up a lot better, and products are easier to find. I really enjoy the kind of "bargain basement" atmosphere that envelopes the rear left quadrant of the store. I am looking forward to the day when their cheese and meat section are finally complete; it seems like this is a never-ending construction project. Speaking of construction, the parking lot could do with a major overhaul, for the potholes are killer. All in all, Binny's is still tops with me. read more

I placed my order for eight bottles of wine on Friday April 15th before 11am. I indicated, on line, that I would collect the order from Willowbrook. The order system gave me no indication that there would be any issue. The confirmation email indicated, and I quote - "Your order may be split and fulfilled from more than one of our 24 stores"; "a store associate will contact you as soon as your order is ready"; and "Please allow us 24 hours to process your order." No communication on Saturday, not on Sunday, nor on Monday. I called Willowbrook, and asked about the order. I was told that while they had my order, nothing was done about it as the wine was not in stock. Further, there was no transfer order in place, and if I wanted it, it was only available in three other stores. If I wanted it transferred, Thursday was the earliest. This is directly opposite the information provided on the web page, which promised 24 hour order process. When I arrived in the Grand Ave, Chicago location today, as I was now up against a time limit and could not wait for Thursday, I asked for my order. The store personnel told me that there was no paperwork but that they had the order set aside for me. I asked why there was no paperwork, when I ordered this online. I pointed out that I placed the order on Friday, was told it would be ready in 24 hours at Willowbrook. Obviously, this is not 24 hours after Friday and Grand Ave location is not in Willowbrook, and who's fault is it that my order was not processed properly? They had no answer, no paperwork, and were not interested in discussing this. Both store personnel, turned their backs on me and walked away. If you can find it in the store, they will be happy to sell it to you. If you think about anything with the website -- reconsider as there are better places to buy on line theirs is worse than amateur. read more

Unfortunately, I need to lower my review for Binny's to 3 stars from 4. I still think they have a good selection, reasonable prices and quick checkout, but there is a fly in the ointment. I called them up a few weeks ago to inquire about them helping out with an event at my organization. I spoke to a customer service manager (can't recall her name) and explained the details of what we were hoping to achieve. She told me that this type of request ordinarily had to go through district management and assured me that I would receive a call within a few days. I didn't get any sort of call or email from the district manager or this location as a courtesy letting me know that it wouldn't work out. Unprofessional Thankfully, our event was a great success thanks to the people at Emmett's and Half Acre. I don't know where exactly the breakdown occurred with my request, but since this was my point of contact, I will have to leave my comments here. I'm still a customer, but the bloom is off of the rose. I suspect you'll be satisfied as a retail customer, but be careful with other types of requests. read more

It's hard to give a bad ranking to a place that serves happiness. But Binny's really does deserve 5 stars. They have a terrific selection of beer, whiskey, and wine. The wine guys are extremely knowledgeable and happy to walk around with you and help you find what's right for your palate. Even during crazy holidays, they hold good hours and remain well managed. Came here with some fellow lush buddies on a Saturday when wine and liquor was 15% off with your coupon (gasp - not beer though!!!) We had to stock up on some of our staples. I like the lay out of this place - it's easy to find your favorite bottle of whatever. They even have a pretty big cheese and meat counter to find something to pair with your favorite wine. I worked an event here for Absolut Vodka last week. Since this was my first time in this particular Binny's, I arrived early to check the place out. Every employee that I encountered offered assistance; and it wasn't just the low cut top I was wearing to work the event...they were asking everyone. :-) The selection was great, and I even learned about some new products that I'd never heard of before. The store was neat and organized, and easy to shop. I don't live anywhere near this place, so the only way I'd probably go back is if I'm scheduled to work another event there. If you catch Binny's on a deal, then it's not a bad place to get the usual beer and liquor. There's usually some sort of macro deal going on, but if you're a Miller only type of guy and Budweiser is the one on sale, you can get a better deal for your beer elsewhere. I'm a craft beer guy, so I love this place because it has a great variety of every kind of craft beer available in Illinois. Also, the beer guys here are knowledgable and friendly and will help you find what you're looking for or give their opinion on a beer. For variety this place can't be beat, and that combined with good service helps me overlook the occasional price markup. read more

How can you not like a massive liquor store that has every kind of beer, wine or spirit that you could possibly dream of?! I came in here a few days ago to help kick start the studying for the Certified Beer Server portion of the Cicerone Certification Program. Although this time around I wasn't bombarded by people who were asking me if I needed help (which I could have used recommendations this time around), I still had no problem finding exactly what I was looking for and making off with a decent selection of worldly beers. Buying gifts for adults is easy: booze, booze, and more booze. Buying gifts for my beer snob friends is anything but. Until you go to Binny's! I'm beyond useless when it comes to alcohol. Picture a lost five-year-old who's just ingested a pixie stix that dwarfs the child in height, and you have some estimation of my trip to Binny's yesterday. "Oh, oh, oh! This one says 'Hop Ness Monster' and has a cute little monster on it!" "Ooooooh, this is a pretty blue bottle. And it says 'Reindeer Droppings!' That'll make a good Christmas present!" "Heeheehee, it's a picture of a drunk elf! He's all tangled up in lights and pissing in a chimney!" Let's just say I picked out selections based on pretty pictures and silly names. And let's just say that if not for the intervention of a kindly employee, my friends would be supremely miffed. The employee helped me find the exact brew (despite my butchering its name, and then holding out my cell phone to show him the text message. Yes, I'm that useless I can't buy a single beer without a shopping list), and even recommended a rare bottle that Brew Dog only issued a few of. It wasn't Tactical Nuclear Penguin, but it'll do. They also helped me special order two bottles of wine for my cousins, straight from Maynard James Keenan's vineyard. The punchline? "Look! I got you the latest release from Tool!" Ordering the wine was supremely easy (and done in the days before Christmas over just a week), and they even held a wine-tasting in-store! Binny's are always so flippin big! I think the staff are trained to notice when people Start to look overwhelmed/lost. I always get offered help at that exact moment and am able to get what I want. Our go-to for liquor, wine, and beer. The selection is fantastic and it's organized really well so I'm never overwhelmed. Recently we were looking to stock up on Bloody Mary makings at out home, and they recommended a new mix for us to try and was delicious. Most liquor stores you'll just have people waiting at checkout but they always check to see if we need help with anything while we're shopping around. When we got married in NC we were allowed to bring in our own liquor. After price checking it was actually significantly cheaper to purchase the wine from IL from here. They were very helpful while making our selection. read more

Thank you, I do look young, but there is no reason to assume that I am underage and zero reason to have a bad attitude AT THE REGISTER. You looked at my ID much too long. Want to know my height and weight and my address? You've got it covered as you looked at my ID long enough. Didn't really seem to verify that it was really me, in person, just stared and memorized the ID. It was creepy. You didn't ask me if I had a Binny's card. Didn't ask me if I wanted to sign up for one. Could've gotten my info that way too. Meeting those corporate goals? I didn't ask for help on selecting a wine. Or which IPA is best. Or if Bell's Hopslam is still available. Or if you have Two Hearted in (the newly produced/marketed/manufactured) a can. I came in. I made my selection independently and autonomously. You, 'Associate Sales Manager', you were rude and you have 'manager' on your name tag. I understand there's a help wanted sign in front. You must be overworked due to lack of employees. Not my problem. You are a business. Cut your hours of operation then. There are only 2 liquor licenses in Willowbrook. Be grateful you have one of them. I will be taking my business to other locations, Mainstreet or Prestige. (Guy with the long hair...it is not you, you've been real nice every time I've come in). Good selection, good staff, good location. Their prices are not always best but it's competitive. It's on route 83, very convenient for quick in and out. Staff is helpful, I found out they running out of items frequently. Few staff members are ok, then others. Some doesn't tell you about promotion going on product. Last time I was here alone, this guy behind me in line actually talked the clerk into almost calling the police to look at my drivers license. Said I looked too young and if he sold to me, he'd call the police himself. I told the clerk 'go ahead, but enjoy explaining to management how you called the police because a customer told you my ID was fake. It's real, I'm 23. The cops will tell your boss you are a moron, you can't spot a real ID when you see one. How could they expect you to spot a fake?? It will call your qualifications into question, and you could lose your job. And before you say it could be my sister's, I don't have a sister." The clerk decided to sell to me and I went on my merry way. But I'm not coming without my husband until I update my license. Not worth the hassle from the customers. The clerk probably decided the customer had a logical argument because he saw that my license still lists my parents' address (even teased me about how far from home I was), which is another suburb and different county, a wee bit away. (address is updated electronically, just not physically on my license.) I've never had a problem here since. But I'll never forget that experience!! It was like the clerk gave into peer pressure from strangers!!! Love the seasonal products (pumpkin liquor, caramel apple liquor, etc)! Tasty! It doesn't seem that there is much that this place lacks. If you want to drink it, they have it. Aisles are wide, the store is clean, and the folks working there are friendly enough, though we did get maybe a little too much commentary on one of the items that we were purchasing - if we can afford it, we don't really care that some folks might find it to be a little overpriced. Sorry.. As with many previous places, I hate the parking lot. It's kind of hard to get out to turn left. I only came to this Binny's for a Scotch Whisky tasting seminar & nothing else. I didn't have quite the negative experience the person below me had but, this Binny's felt smaller than ones I've been at & was ignored by the employees that walked past me when I was walking around the store for some 20 minutes. However, their beer singles selection outranks any other Binny's I've been to. It varies from time to time but, as of 8/28, they had Great Lakes (Eliot Ness, Glockenspiel, & Blackout Stout), Three Floyds ( Alpha King & Robert The Bruce), Unibroue (Maudite & Trois Pistoles), Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, North Coast Old Stock Ale, Goose Island Harvest Ale, Trumer Pils, & Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest.
