Went here before and after the stadium tour. The food was very nice and a fair price, the bar was clean and had a good atmosphere.

The Old Peacock has recently been taken over by Ossett Brewery. They have spent a considerable…read moreamount on a very sympathetic and aesthetically pleasing refurbishment of the premises. Add to to that one of the biggest beer gardens I know of in the area, and my first impressions were very good. On my first visit, a few weeks ago, shortly after it opened, I was only there to sample some of the nine real ales they had on hand pull. All were in great condition and served perfectly, by extremely welcoming and knowledgable staff. My favourite at the time was the Citra, which, as its name suggests, is extremely refreshing. Being so close to Elland Road Stadium, they regularly have large volumes of lads pouring in through their doors, which would explain the rather unusual approach to the gentleman's rest room! It has an entry door, a one way system for doing your business and washing your hands, and then an exit door. Can't say I've seen this anywhere else, but a great idea! Anyway, I held off posting a review until I had had the opportunity to return for food, which I managed to fit in last week. I had their traditional fish and chips. The batter on the fish was delightfully light and crispy, the fish itself was really tasty and the chips were "skin on" and served in their own individual fryer basket.....nice touch! It also came with peas and homemade tartar, which was lovely too. Overall, a fantastic new addition to the area, with great food, drink, and excellent service, in very pleasant surroundings. I will definitely be back. Well done Ossett, you have created a gem here.....keep up the good work!

Of course I went there just before catching the game across the street, having an hour to spare. The place was jam-packed with fans sucking down suds and generally having a good time before kick-off. My friends went in and I told them that I would meet them there. (I went to the fan shop of Leeds Utd first.) When I got there and tried to get in, the security lady at the door of the pub wanted to see my game ticket. I told her that my friends had gone in already and that they had it. I told her my name (fortunately my friends told her!) and she let me in. So I guess this keeps out the rifraf. Being crowded and having to use the toilet often when you down pints, I thought it was great that out back they had a section in the garden fenced off for privacy and had the ol' game day urinals that you find in Europe at least. This cut down on waiting in the gents and kept me from wetting myself! Although crowded, there is a huge staff so not a long wait for a drink. Great atmosphere.

The door staff are occasionally rude, the bar staff always serve the pretty girl before the bald man, the on floor staff are generally more than abrupt when it comes to throwing you off the balcony (in to the bar, not _off_ the balcony)... At this point you'd be forgiven for thinking that I hate The Sky Lounge. The truth is that if it wasn't for the drinks I honestly would, but the cocktails here are amazing - with the Mojito and French Martini's being amongst the best I've had in Leeds... and probably much further afield than that too. Arrive early, avoid any staff that you don't absolutely have to talk to in order to be served, and be prepared to wait for your drinks to be made... then sit back, relax and enjoy!

It is a bar / restaurant / night club on the waterfront of the river that unfortunately, like so many other bars and clubs, is a cattle market parading around falsely as a sophisticated night out. On a busy night, it is like drowning in a pond of glow stick fluid while bright orange practically naked women pout at you like delirious tropical fish from all angles (see photo of 'sexy santas'). Meanwhile the lazily produced monotonous drones of music repeatedly flick you in the face like an annoying little brother, provoking a tiresome and frustrating headache. Oblivious to any of this, it oozes with pretense, and goes about it's not-even-tactful patriarchal ways as grinning goofy men swagger around trying to look cool and control what's hopefully hidden in their trousers. The only valid reason for going here would be for comedy value, if you can stomach it.

So, Oracle has reopened during the day and I for one was very happy about this…read more If ever anyone would ask me where to go for a burger in Leeds i would have previously not hesitated in recommending this place. The menu however has now changed! And I'm not happy. The speciality here used the be their almighty burgers and the selection was fab,it has been cut down now to a very minimal selection on the menu. :-( My friend and I went for lunch last week and I was surprised to see 2/3 tables of people in there- all eating. As it's down Brewery Wharf it's pretty tucked away so some days I have been in and no other customers have been in the place. This makes the bar space a cavernous and very cold place. The bar is nice and airy, very light with the floor to ceiling windows and features lots of 'bling' style decor touches. Anyway, back to lunch. We were greeted cheerily and seated wherever we wanted. She explained the 'burger lunch special' only featured skinny fries and not wedges or sweet potatoes as says on the usual menu. Other than that its a very good deal. We ordered and sat back to people watch. There seems to be more staff here than is necessary and no-one doing too much. The manager was doing paperwork in one of the booths and another male member of staff seemed to be doing very little except stomping around flexing his muscles. May suit the evening ambiance of this place but not at lunchtime love- I'm waiting to eat! The food came quite quickly and as we had sat opposite the kitchen hatch we saw it was all freshly prepared. We'd ordered the BBQ Ranch burger, the chicken bacon & avocado burger and some cheesy garlic bread. The garlic bread was lovely- very soft ciabatta and cheesy cheese- not overly garlicky so very nice. The burgers were well presented and the portion of fries were HUGE! My chicken burger was minced chicken- a strange consistency really and the guacamole didn't really do much for it. Overall it was OK but I left about a third of it. The ranch burger was nicer, large fresh onion rings and a sweet BBQ sauce provided with it were a great addition. The fries were nice and crisp and overall it was a pleasant lunch. A couple of things let this place down- The dodgy background music The excess of staff doing little to nothing The coldness in the place I wouldn't say I'd now rave about the burgers there but it's going to be one of them places to keep in the back of my mind if I want a filling burger lunch.

"Let me show you." I've always been a fan of Leeds Brewery pubs, so to discover they have a new one, tucked away just off The Calls, was a happy time. I love the fact they've refurbished another of Leeds' old buildings and breathed new life into an unused space. It's a classic LB fit out -- the character of the building is in tact, yet it's clean and simply anew, and retains the quirky personality of the original space. Firstly, they've some coveted outdoor space: a small patio out back and cute little balcony that overlooks said patio. It's really private, being ensconced between the church and another building, so it feels like a secret haven. The inside has plenty of little nooks and larger tables, so small or large, your party's going to be happy. There's a menu, including some classic British bites, and a fairly interesting bar. Besides your ales and a few craft beers, they also offer up some interesting ports and such. Very cosy, very classy. The gin selection is fine, but don't expect Monkey 47. Since my visit was literally a nightcap, lasting 30 minutes before close, I can't comment much on the atmosphere but I can say that the chap running the bar couldn't do enough to help us. Despite teething problems with glassware, limited booze from what will be their standard selection, and lack of fruit, he made us feel so welcome. Props to him -- he's be a fabulous manager/landlord. I'm a fan, and I hope to spend many more evenings in the Lamb & Flag!
