I would give 0 stars if possible. and I never write a bad review ever.. but this guy is HORR I BLE. like didnt play any requests; stopped playing music in the middle of the reception horrible. We hired Billy J Full-Spectrum Entertainment to perform at our Wedding reception on September 23, 2018 at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club in our beautiful Sonoma Wine Country. Billy J Entertainment really lives up to their name. We were privileged to have Billy J, the owner, coordinating the event, along with his professional staff. His approach is not only to DJ our music selections, but he was fully engaged in contributing to a wonderful reception experience for all. He lit up the room in our wedding colors, provided the keyboard and microphones for the musicians and presenters. He followed our reception concept and still effortlessly filled in the gaps with impromptu fun - even for the children with "the limbo". I could not have asked for a more professional company. The DJ was very entertaining and everybody had a great time dancing. He made everyone feel comfortable with his warm and friendly personality. My guests and family continue to comment about how much fun they had. read more

Billy J did our ceremony at the Western Reserve Historical society and reception at the Shaker Heights Country Club this weekend and it was amazing!! The ceremony went off without a hitch and billy was a huge part in making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be and that the timing of everything was correct. I recently attended a wedding where Billy J was hired to provide DJ services. However, he provided so much more. At the rehearsal, there were twice as many groomsmen as bridesmaids. Which meant that each lady would have two escorts. That scenario led to a discussion by Billy J about how a threesome is every guy's fantasy but usually with two girls instead. At the dinner, the bridal party was still upset over those remarks. During the wedding, just before the introductions of the bridal party before dinner, he walked out to the center of the floor and introduced himself and then asked the audience to say as a group "Hi Billy J!" Maybe 10 people out of 200 mumbled the response he was looking for. He then lectured the audience about how that made him unhappy and how that's not the thing to do. Because it was relevant, he then brought up his Hawaiian heritage and then tried to get the audience to say aloha a couple times. All in all, at least 3-4 minutes of inane banter that wouldn't be well received at a middle school dance was forced on the audience before introducing the actual bridal party. A few other highlights, he couldn't remember anyone's names during the rehearsal, was loud and unorganized, and then couldn't remember the father of the bride's name for the father-daughter dance section. During the introductions before dinner he mispronounced the newlywed's last name. Positives were that his two flashing light bars worked the whole evening, and his cd collection didn't appear to have any scratches, which is impressive considering how old they must be. His assistant was actually just fine, played good music and didn't make a spectacle of himself while Billy J took multiple breaks to eat and look at women. The sad part is all of this is true. The venue had many acoustic challenges, and for that part he actually did as good as you could expect, music was not full of echos and the mic's were minimally affected during speeches. I'm sure there are lots of people who take to Yelp to write a bad review every time they are slightly dissatisfied with their service. I'm not one of them. I recently attended a wedding reception featuring Billy J and I have to say it was an awful experience. It was like he had never worked a wedding before. The music was just terrible, no one wanted to dance. Even when he got people on the dance floor, he'd just follow it up with something no one wanted to hear, and everyone would head back to the bar. I really felt like he ruined the wedding. At the end of the night there was a discrepancy over how late he was supposed to play, I don't know all of the details but it took quite a bit of argument to get him to start playing music again. Alas, he got the last laugh by playing another 30 minutes of music no one wanted to hear. There are tons of DJs out there, hire someone else, don't take a chance with this guy. read more

When seeking a DJ for my wedding at the Arcade in Cleveland, I was worried 1) about sound quality in such an open space 2) a DJ who would play the kind of music that many guests would enjoy and dance to, but also not play music that I did not want to hear on my big day. Billy J's extremely detailed wedding itinerary & background as an acoustic engineer really appealed to me & seemed like the natural choice. We started planning our wedding and ceremony nearly a year in advance. At each meeting, Billy had the contract on the table, and took notes. As a former wedding professional (violinist/musician) myself, I was extremely detailed in what I wanted & expected, and he assured me they could deliver. We covered ceremony music, cocktail hour music, dinner music, and dancing music, as well as setup in the hour prior to the ceremony/reception. I thought this was all covered. The day before the wedding, I got a call from Billy J. He was claiming that my setup at the Hyatt was all wrong (he also argued with the wedding coordinator at the Hyatt). He also said that "now looking back at this contract, the additional cost for setup, speakers, and the ceremony is $300, but for you I will do it for $150". I explained to him that it was disconcerting and seemed unprofessional that the day before my wedding he was calling me with the wrong venue setup and asking for more money (he had multiple meetings before to bring it up if that were the case). Billy J then became very defensive, and started making personal attacks and even said, " I am the person running your wedding, you better not make me upset." I explained to him the reasons that I chose his services & that I was sure he'd do a great job. He then claimed "The wrong setup, it is my fault, well, actually it is the new girls in the office's fault because she put it in your folder on accident, because we have been doing so many weddings at the Hyatt." He was so rude and condescending to me, that I really wanted to fire him. Unfortunately, it was the day before the wedding (I think that was on purpose), and it would have been impossible to find a new DJ in less than 24 hours. I should have tried. At my wedding, he played the wrong music at the cocktail hour. I had to go ask him to change it. He played the wrong first dance song TWICE. Then, he did not play any songs on our "must play list", and began playing songs on the "do not play" list. The next day, a wedding guest asked me, "Was your DJ on a mission to be a d***?". I got other negative remarks about the DJ as well. It was embarrassing. Billy J did an adequate job with the music, but he certainly did not deliver on what was promised. The sound quality was good in the Arcade, but that was about it. There were many people at my wedding who are planning their own weddings, and thanks to his shameless self promotion at my reception, they will certainly not hire Billy J. read more

Worst. DJ. Ever. Bar Mitzvah was poorly paced and completely disorganized. DJ was cranky and unpleasant. Games were dumb (shower caps, shaving cream, and Cheetos? Really?). Dance music was badly mixed with huge blocks of dead air. Awful. Simply awful. Yelp needs a zero star option. read more

We saw Billy J at a wedding a year prior and he did a good job, so we decided to hire him for our wedding in September. Billy J did an overall excellent job at our wedding. It was a great experience. Three weeks later and we are still getting compliments about what a great time people had at the wedding. The dance floor was packed the entire night. Our specific requests and timetable was followed perfectly. He ran the show very well too, not taking up too much time on the mic, but at the same time was funny and professional and moved the night along well. He was very attentive to our needs and helped us in anyway he could. I would definitely recommend Billy J to someone who wants a laid back, fun time at their wedding. read more

Is there a ZERO star option? Billy J lacks knowledge and leads you to believe you are going to have him for a DJ, just to pawn you off onto someone else last minute. He did this to me and another couple I know. He yelled at me when I voiced a concern with his services and he wanted us to download all of our music and email it to him, essentially doing his job for him. Before you use him, research him. He has bad reviews on all of the wedding websites and has had several complaints on the BBB. read more
