Billy has no respect for a long time client like me. He was unprofessional how he handled the situation. He asked me for my opinion on the results of the high-lights. I told him the truth. The color on both sides of my head, did not match. I got blotches of brown on the left and blonde on the right. He made me look like I went to Fantastic Sams. Billy, being unprofessional and upset about my comment, he started grumbling and saying that the $75 I was going to pay is not worth his time. And that him being in the hair industry for 20+ years. What matters and brings customers back are RESPECT and a FANTASTIC job. Then he said, I'll do your hair straightening, but I think you should go and find someone to do your high-lights. I never said anything, I just sat in the chair waiting for him to finish. This won't be the fastest or the cheapest hair appt, but it will likely have the best results. I have been going to Billy for years, have gotten several straight perms, highlights, colors and cuts. Although I really hate spending all day at the salon, I'm willing to suffer through for the results. A necessary evil! I highly recommend this place and even take my mother there when she visits. I can't say I have ever left unhappy, yes a little tired and bored; but not unhappy. He does have a huge TV to play movies on if you are going to be there for awhile and often times he will provide food and beverage if your there all day. Parking is available under the salon. The studio also does color, straightening perms , regular perms and is located on the top floor of where Hee Hing restaurant used to be on Kapahulu Avenue. Parking is $1 downstairs. I purchased the groupon for a Brazilian blowout and haircut with herve. it was my mistake to schedule my apt at 6pm. when I arrived there the salon was closed so it was just herve and me. a little strange. he was nice and funny, but I would've preferred a different time when the salon would've been open. I felt like he rushed through my appt. I asked for a short bob right below my chin. he only cut off like 2 inches and my hair is still at my shoulders :( I only paid the price for the groupon because ive hard great things about the Brazilian blowout. however I am not impressed. my hair is not straight (originally wavy to begin with) so it should've done something. he also didn't do the entire procedure right. I am very disappointed as I hurried home from work and then rode my bike across town to make my appt. sad to say I will not be back. read more

I've had my hair done by a few people and seriously, Billy is the best person that has ever handled my tresses! The man just knows what he is doing. He is so knowledgeable with his techniques and also the products that he uses and sells in his store. And this may be a trait that most people would not want to reveal about themselves, but in order to further my review about how wonderful Billy is I am just going to say it. Like said earlier I've been through quite an amount of different hairdressers and seriously, Billy is the first one to ever comment that I have a flat head. And suffice to say, it's quite true! Looks like my mom had me sleeping on my back as a baby way too much when I was still developing. But even so, Billy with his fantastic skills has this great technique in which he cut my hair so that back fluffs out more to hide this issue. He also colored my hair with some new, great ammonia free (and great smelling) product, which I forgot the name of..but go in there and get your hair colored and I promise it will come out feeling nicer than when you first came in. He also put some feathers in my hair, until then I did not know too much about this trend, but was open to it and wow did it look awesome with my new darker hair. If you want to go a super friendly, knowledgeable, and very experienced hair dresser...make an appointment with Billy himself. The man is such a talented, creative genius with hair! When I made my appointment here I had no idea where this studio was or who Billy was. Let's just say I got super lucky because I picked the studio closest to where I live and got the best haircut of my life! Billy's studio is a boutique-high end but it is well worth the dough, even for poor college students LOL. Billy is extremely professional and is an expert at hair. I showed him a picture of a curly layered cut that is probably pretty difficult and Billy looked at it real quick and did the cut in about 30 minutes...and it looked like he could have done it in his sleep. I have been going to Billy for over 15 years. During that time I have never walked away anyway but "TOTALLY" happy... I walk into the salon feeling dumpy and walk out feeling beautiful.
