The…read morepeople at VDC were very nice and friendly and came out in a timely manner for both the estimate and the job itself. We paid extra to have fiber in the cement to strengthen it and were looking forward to a nice new crack free driveway. Unfortunately, after an enormous amount of money and only 6 days later we have a crack in the driveway that we haven't even driven on yet. We also had to scrape splattered concrete off our vinyl siding and vinyl fence. Gary came out to look at it a couple days later and basically said that all cement cracks and there's nothing that can be done about it. I'm not a cement expert so I can't speak on that end of things but I am a Customer Service expert and I would not want my company name associated with shabby work. Basically, this review is just to make people aware that unless you have MAJOR cement damage you might as well save your money because according to Gary "it happens."

In April 2022 I paid $4,200 to a concrete flatwork guy based in the Lacota area for a simple 22' by…read more25' pad for a steel garage. The result was a spider web look ("crazing cracks") and a pad not properly squared. So when it came to installing a 130 foot concrete driveway, I passed on this guy. I tried to get a price from an Allegan guy named Randy. He said he would come out and look at the Job but he no showed and no call to waive off the job. Two other guys came out but they were not licensed and their prices were too high. My neighbor suggested I call Valley Concrete owned by Matt Knight. I called and Matt came over that night. He gave me a price the same day. I verified that he was licensed as required by law. His price was fair and lower than the other guys. I hired Matt and he installed the new driveway within a few weeks. He chose Hamilton Ready Mix who supplied a quality mix. I had no fears that Matt would not pay his suppliers and employees. I would highly recommend Valley Concrete to other customers. He provided a very good product in a timely fashion at a fair and reasonable price.

First let me start with my experience: quality of work is excellent and they come back to make sure you're satisfied; price is competitive, but not the cheapest; workers are pleasant and bilingual. The other review states that the workforce took an entire afternoon to clear "a small section of overgrowth" next to a house and that after two weeks then "20 - 30 times as much overgrowth" grew back. This is not possible. Also, the reviewer objects to the $500 fee. That seems reasonable to me if a crew worked for an afternoon, as stated. (I just paid $665 for a spring cleanup and snowplowing for last month, which I find reasonable.) Finally, the review uses a pejorative word to describe the vendor -- a term that Yelp should remove because the word is offensive and some consider it anti-Semitic.
