My Favorite Place sits directly on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Chamblee and is just a stones…read morethrow away from a variety of other consignment/antique stores. However, what makes My Favorite Place different is that they are more flea market than consignment/antique store, and this is something that they fully embrace and own! We have popped into My Favorite Place a couple of times over the years in search of things we never knew we needed. MFP is a treasure trove of used items ranging from trinkets to furniture that are stacked from wall to wall and floor to ceiling, they even have pieces outside lining the sidewalk. To go back to the "flea market" comment, that is truly what the items here are. The store feels like one big yard sale with majority of the items simply being used and old, not really antiques or collectibles. Due to this and the way things are stacked and shelved, a lot of items are pretty beat up. They have a solid selection of furniture pieces, but again they are chipped and worn. If you are after furniture and plan to finish it yourself, then MFP is a solid option for you! Prices are fair and decent for everything in here, even the furniture. The pricing reflects the condition, so again if you are a DIY-er, then you can really find some great deals and good pieces here. Overall, My Favorite Place is a combination of over and underwhelming. Overwhelming in the way of volume of items, haphazard organization and stocking and underwhelming in the condition of items. We pop in when we are in the area, but would not go out of our way to drop by here.

I fell in love with Westside Marketplace at their Toco Hills location a few years back. Because…read morethere are hundreds of storefronts from different artists/collectors/entrepreneurs, the experience is always unique. However, regardless of whether you're looking for vintage books, furniture, artwork, jewelry, clothing or any this ing in between, you are going to find some good options or inspiration by walking around Westside Market! Today, I only bought a jumper for my 4yo but I was definitely tempted to get more. It's been a little while since I've gone to the Toco Hills location but this location seemed to have more black-owned vendor spaces (of course, I can only base this on the storefronts that had clear signage of the owner). My only complaint is that many items seem slightly overpriced. Like I passed over a few times that seemed about 20% too high.

From rhinestone necklaces to old cameras that looked like something from Greta Garbo era to portable typewriters that Hemingway would use...every thing here has a history and character. As far as the price I think they are right on point. For example I collect mid century brooches and AOTS's prices were exactly what the market place would sell them for these days. They had a rotary black telephone in working condition for $65 which I though was cheap. Most of what I've seen in that condition were going for $85 and up. As for their refurbished typewriters-I think AOTS's are a bargain. Most of their typewriters are in excellent conditions and from what I saw they were priced at a fair price. You do get what you pay for on an antique typewriter. Yes you can get one on ebay for $85 but you don't know what kind of condition it is in. It's better to get one refurbished by a skilled technician otherwise you minds well toss your $85 bucks out the window....besides do you know a typewriter technicians? I mean who services these things anymore? exactly....actually I do know one. My friends and I came in looking for movie soundtracks, and while we were looking, a tall, older…read moreman approached us and asked if we were the girls who had been looking through them. I said yes, and he immediately responded, "No, no, no, let's put these back," speaking to us in an extremely condescending and disrespectful way, as if we were children who had done something wrong. After we put everything back and were getting ready to leave, he then said, "Let's see if you girls are true to your word." The entire interaction was incredibly uncomfortable and inappropriate. He repeatedly looked us up and down while talking to us, which made it very clear that this was not simply an employee doing his job. We are young girls, and the way he was speaking to and looking at us was completely unacceptable. What made the situation even worse was seeing his male coworker with long brown hair laughing while he was talking to us. Watching another employee find the situation funny instead of recognizing how uncomfortable and inappropriate it was was honestly disgusting. If this is how your employees treat young female customers, there is a serious problem. We came in to look at movie soundtracks, not to be talked down to, scrutinized, or made uncomfortable by an older man who seemed far more interested in us than the products we were looking at. Employees should make customers feel welcome and safe not embarrassed, intimidated, or sexualized. This entire interaction was completely inappropriate and needs to be addressed.

After driving by a bajillion times, constantly saying to myself a million times…read morethat I *really* needed to check it out, and a recommendation from Lauren S, I finally made it in to this awesome spot on Ponce. As much as I loved the entire place, it certainly isn't for everyone. Furniture, clothes, shoes, and knickknacks are all haphazardly stacked on top of one another. It takes AT LEAST 4 or 5 laps around the store to get a sense that you're seeing everything, and even after an hour perusing the wares I still wondered what goodies I had left behind. You've got to be up for the hunt to find the treasures. I did manage to walk out with the most phenomenal vintage coat and dress, all for a total steal given their quality and condition. Be sure to head to the back and upstairs for the 1/2 off loft, where things are disgustingly cheap. I can't believe I left a chair behind up there. Yes, I may have to completely reconfigure my apartment set up to find a place to put it, but I absolutely loved it and it was $40. Yeah, and in perfect condition. My only regret is not finding this place sooner: I would have happily outfitted my entire place (and closet) from their wares, and could have saved some money doing so. Service is friendly and willing to haggle: exactly the kind of small local shops you want to support these days.

The parking lot was big with handicap and accessible ramp to the entrance which was also stroller friendly! They do have signs on the door that indicate their hours and warn you not to come in with a backpack. From what I saw while browsing the thrift store is divided by vintage and general merchandise. There are prices for each clothing item but prices vary based on the brand. The staff was friendly. The cashier explained that the items are priced as marked and they do have a sale color each week. When I visited the color was blue & any item with that color would be 50% off except for tags that were within the vintage category. The vintage items would be marked clearly with "VIN". The dressing rooms were open & so were the restrooms. There were plenty of mirrors as well if you wanted to use those for trying on items. I ended up doing that because the dressing rooms were occupied. The plus size clothing is toward the back of the store on the right side when you come in. I almost missed it! There is also quite a bit of options within the sections labeled "XL" in women's. I saw some nice brands in the women's clothing & boy's clothing sections & a few items were new with tags. They had a lot of purses and shoes as well. Although I did not leave with anything, I would come back.
