We went on Valentine's Day got the steak special w lobster tail. It was delicious, steak was perfectly cooked lobster tail was tender and warm butter on the side. Baked potatoes and a little stack of homemade cookies for dessert. Delicious. Only downside they close at 9 pm. We were deep into great conversations. Highly recommend. read more

DONT COME HERE FOR A WELCOMING STAFF. Never once been told "no" by a waitress for a correction with my food in my life. Every restaurant I've ever worked in has told me whether I think the customer is wrong or not they get what they're ordering. Order wings, waitress didn't ask boneless or traditional and then walked away. The person I was with got up to go to the bathroom so I walked over to where the waitress was standing to ask her if the wings were boneless, she said no, I asked if they could please be made boneless because I have eating restrictions and cannot eat things with tiny bones in them. she looked at me and said no I will not remake you the correct order, he already breaded them. ANY other restaurant with ANY decency whatsoever would've had my correct order made. Not only did they not make me the correct order, they also refused to let me cancel it, so I received food I would not eat that I was forced to pay for. The food would have been wasted either way, but not only did they just waste their food, they always made a TERRIBLE experience for multiple ppl. The least they could've done is let me cancel the order and not pay for food that I won't even eat. read more

Wow!! The food here was incredible and I honestly wasn't expecting it to be that good. I placed a pretty big order for my family and the woman who helped me over the phone was very patient. I ordered the Rueben sandwich with French fries and garlic parm sauce, my husband and I split some jalapeño poppers and he had a burger. The Reuben was good, it was just a bit dry, I think they got confused and thought instead of thousand island sauce I wanted garlic parm on the side. I think with sauce on it, it would have been great. The French fries were good, the garlic parm was incredible. The jalapeño poppers were the first ones I've tried that were actually spicy. I didn't get to go inside but my husband said it looked nice in there, was clean. The raspberry iced tea was good, just wish it was colder. We will definitely be back! read more

Pretty good food and very good service! We were there for a few hours and we weren't rushed. Our server was friendly and gave recommendations. My steak sandwich had a ton of fat but it is what it is. I have come to this place for years. I have to say that the burgers are good. There is also a great beer selection. However the last two times I have been there I have had bad customer service experiences. The last time we even asked to talk to the owner and he was awful - just plain rude. I don't know that I will be able to go back. It's not all about the food, it's also the experience. Our night out ended up being a bummer due to him. I like this place. Comfortable decor and prompt service. The barmaid suggested BJ's Light beer. I drank it but it's a bit too light. I also ate The Egg Burger. It was actually very tasty but (like many other places) the bun was way too thick. They had a lot more on the menu too. Plus a good selection of micro brews so i had a Pseudo Sue Pale Ale. Went for lunch and football, ordered sampler, regular fried bar food, not bad not great. Girlfriend loves wings we asked about them, server said they were great, asked for all flats was told cant happen. Get said wings and they are breaded nowhere on the menu does it state this but we tried them anyway. They tasted funny and were a weird color so we brought it to servers attention, she took them away to the kitchen and about 20 seconds later we here the guy that was working yell they taste fine to me, we asked not to pay for the wings because we didnt eat them and she obliged and at that time we told her that it was very unprofessional of your cook to yell anything opinion or not towards customers. I've worked in the restaurant business for almost 30 years and this might be the most inexcusable act I've witnessed. I've worked every aspect of the restaurant and have dealt with the frustrations professionally. The customers pay your bills so therefore let's show them some respect and I'm not going to say the customer is always right because they are not, but as a professional working in customer service you sir with the big voice should be ashamed of yourself, but if not I'll never come in again to here you complain about the job you chose to do, grow up. Great local American bar and grill! I had the Billie Jo's Burger that is made from ground NY Strip. It was very good. I also had a side salad that was pretty straight forward. Lastly, there is also an amazing selection of beers on tap and a huge stock of liquor. My server was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Went on wing night (Thursday) and had a great time. It was busy and the wings were good. Normally I like my wings "naked" and not breaded, but they pull it off nicely. Lots of different sauces to choose from. I love "hot" wings, but the hot sauce was just ok. The Honey Dijon was a mild sauce, but my favorite. This place is not for everyone, if you dont like noisy bars and restaurants, this might not be the place for you. Great place and good wings. read more

Wasn't expecting to find an establishment in a town of 5,500 with a bar that had 36 craft beers on tap. Very pleasant surprise. They had a well-organized beer list to accompany the huge selection. I ordered one of their burgers. I can't remember the name, but it had A-1, onion rings and American cheese. It was maybe a little bit over cooked (they didn't ask me how I wanted it done), but it was a solid burger. I would stop in at Billie Jo's any time I was even remotely close. Here's what you need to know: i don't drink beer, and i still liked it here! I can officially say it is my favorite restaurant in Algona, which granted, doesn't offer a lot of options, but I can honestly say I would eat here again and look forward to it. I only trusted them this time for a basic burger (albeit with olives and mushrooms) and fries, but it was very well prepared and tasty enough that I would be more than willing to try some of their other offerings, and they do have a pretty robust menu! Awesome steaks and prime rib. Great specials from a diverse menu of tradtional american food. Thursday nights are quarter wings and drink specials. Two for one happy hour and a great selection of beers with 12 tap handles and most of the August Schell beers available on tap. For a small town this is as good as it gets. read more
