In September 2022, I hired Steven J Fields to represent me in a difficult divorce. His hourly rate…read morewas $600 per hour, and the consultation fee is $600 per hour. I placed my trust in him and his paralegal. I began to wonder if I should in November 2022. In our first hearing - he did not file for child support properly; The Commissioner pointed it out. Steve told me later that he had always done it that way. Implying the commissioner was wrong. So, I asked when he would file again. Keep in mind. He knew my wife had left the family, I was working and raising 3 kids by myself. She was providing zero help. His response? 'you can't just file a motion for child support, it takes time and money.' Then later he told me that the reason he didn't file the initial motion correctly is that I was in a hurry, and he was trying to help me. So, our motion hearing March 2, 2023. Opposing counsel pointed out that Steve had not filed my financial declaration. Steve insisted that he had, that he had a receipt. But lo and behold, they were filled March 8th - 6 days after the hearing!!!! The hearing on March 22, 2023, did lead to an order for child support by my wife. There were several mistakes. He did not like being called out on them. In fact, when I asked why he had a hearing with my wife's lawyer to reschedule the trial he told me I was a difficult client. That his paralegal had asked him several times to fire me because I caused too much stress. When I was given my files - other client's information was mixed throughout. I am letting them know. When I asked for copies of emails Mr. Fields sent opposing counsel as I am now Pro Se (after Steve knew I was out of money he withdrew as my lawyer.) he told me he owns them - and would not provide them to me. I was billed over $30,000 by Mr. Fields and we had not gotten to mediation! I had asked him how much he felt I would need to have available to get through trial. I asked his paralegal several times for him to call me. I never received a response. Oh - my wife was directed to provide release of records. Steve and his paralegal decided to draft them. One big mistake - they had an incorrect birthdate, so I was charged several hundred dollars for records that came back with nothing. He told me that the birthdate issue was my wife's lawyers. No Steve - you included the originals with the wrong birthdate sent by your paralegal. I have them with your paralegals handwriting! There is so much more, and I am preparing a filing with the Washington State Bar Association. He knows. He didn't seem to care. Someone wrote that anyone looking should look elsewhere. I wish now that I had. Steve and his paralegal did a terrible job representing me and my children and he gave me the records to prove it. Steve did not prepare me for what to expect - wife filed for reconsideration and Steve was indignant when I asked him to explain if she could do that. Same when she filed a counter motion against my motion for child support. I never felt that he communicated with me as to what to expect.

I have worked with many attorneys both on personal matters and on behalf of my clients. Steve is the best, most knowledgeable attorney with whom I have ever worked and it's not even a close comparison. His logical reasoning was on point, his answers to questions were concise and helpful. I appreciated his efficient and effective work after he carefully listened to me and then reviewed the thousands of pages/documents in my case. He, and his paralegal Tasha, quite literally "saved the day". I could not have picked a better attorney and I was so thankful to have them represent me. I am in their debt forever.

I should have trusted the reviews and not hired Katherine. a simple case, no kids, but this…read moreattorney decided to charge me for needless conversation with the opposing party and "case discussions amongst staff". When she asked for more money beyond the retainer, I payed for half and asked her to consider the fact I wrote all proposals and counter proposals myself. She accused me of not wanting to pay and threatened to put a lien on my house and said she would no longer represent me. . I paid my entire invoice. When I reached out to the firm owner it was even worse. She said I insulted her senior attorney and refused to call me claiming no one will know what was said because it's not recorded... yet I have to pay her senior attorney to talk on the phone. I would not recommend Katherine Peterson or anyone at this firm.

My spouse and I secured Tresa several years ago with help on a custody case. Throughout the years,…read morethere were many litigation cases that involved custody, child support, and most recently a viscous DVPO allegation. In the beginning, Tresa was passionate, advocating and super helpful. As time has gone on unfortunately, we have had to part ways due to getting details on our cases incorrect, failing to file documents timely and ultimately un customer centered opinions towards my husband and I. We have paid Tresa thousands of dollars and in the end have had to do a lot of the work ourselves. It is very disappointing because she was such a strong supporter in the beginning. I would not recommend Tresa anymore and haven't for about a year. However, we had been locked in to her due to the complex case we have and money in our retainer.

Very Disappointed!!!! Going through a divorce is not easy…read moreand you expect to have a support from your lawyer. My lawyer Allen Dermody just went out on medical leave and guess what???? I found this out only after he left for medical leaving and I was totally abandoned by this firm! I paid 10k for my process that is still with them , but Chad and Les that should be taking care of my case, just don't care!!! If they are going to charge $300 per hour to ready and charge all the emails that I am sending asking to please reply to answer my questions, and also the numerous phone calls that Ieft with VM.... it will be terrible. They just want your money because you have 0 help. No sympathy from them. The reception woman called Sabrina is just too rude! I told it was an emergency and to her ask Les for the 2 time to make sure he calls me, and she told me that he has a client and would return my call maybe in 24hrs! THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY!!!! And if it was going to count 24 hours for a reply, I was in advantage, because I sent an email to Les with questions a week ago and NOTHING!!! They have my 10k for the deposit, but they are not helping me at all after Allen left and did even had the courtesy to notify me! Also tho this Sabrina! For someone that paid 10k for a service, I am pretty sure I am a client. Run from this place! They are so bad that I can even tell that the attorney from my ex is WAY BETTER!!!!! Run!!!!! Don't waste your money here!

Disappointed. I…read morerecently reached out to Carena McIlwain, an attorney at this firm. The person that took my call shared that Ms. Mcllwain would only have an initial call with me for $100, would need a $5,000 retainer for any follow-up and charge $300 an hour for time beyond the initial consultation. The call was strictly financial focused. My objective for an initial call was to validate if Ms. Mcllwain had the background to meet my needs, was interested in my case and to see if we were compatible. Ms. Mcllwain also reached out to me in a follow-up email stating that she needed to be paid even if we have a "meet and greet". I have worked with multiple attorneys and have never experienced such a money first approach. Other attorneys I have worked with have instilled confidence that they had a fiduciary duty to act for the benefit of their client. I was not under the impression from my initial contact with this firm that this was in their core values.
