I had a great time here on a Thursday morning. Coming from the draught ridden Bay Area, it was refreshing to see green fairways, green trees. The course has some challenging holes, with hills and narrow fairways. Some greens had a cliff and if one shoots it past it (like i did on the 10th) you're in a it of trouble . Friendly staff! I am a beginner, and doing a tour of the 9 hole course in Seattle area. This 9 hole is a little less kept then Jackson (which isn't luxury or anything). Do keep in mind we hit this in November, so some rainy weeks may have taken their toll. The holes are pretty straight and wide for the most part, which is great for beginner. There are mild up/downhill slopes, and varying distance to mix it up a bit. The progression of holes is a bit confusing with some missing directions, number, distance. As result we played 9th hole when we should've been at 3rd. The gal at register was a bit rude. She was counting cash while I stood to pay for literally minutes. I had booked online for tee time, which apparently you don't need to do for 9hole. She told me, as if I was an idiot, you don't need to reserve for 9 hole. That was annoying read more

Growing up in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, I've passed this golf course at least 5 times a day. I used to go to their driving range to hit a bucket of balls, but this was my first time actually walking out on the course. My niece plays in the Bogey Bear and was doing her usual Saturday morning practice. My cousin decided to pick me up and come along and we walked the 9-hole course. It was a beautiful day, BUT I was surprised with how the course was at the 9-hole. Being a golf course that's been here nearly my whole life, I was surprised at the 9-hole course being really dry and ugly. How do you expect to play a good game when the grass is yellow and dying?! Isn't the grass to be green and evenly cut?! I didn't like it at all. read more

Despite being directly under the flight path for planes landing at Sea-Tac, this is a lovely place to drink some tall boys and play 9 par three holes! There are some beautiful views from the top of Beacon Hill on a sunny evening, and the course is old enough to have some older well established trees (but not too many of 'em). Across the street from the full 18 hole course is the Par Three course, which is what my knowledge is limited to. The greens are very well maintained and cushy. The tees aren't so great, being made of fake turf and sand. Not easy to cram a tee into that. I realize it's wussy to tee it up on a par three, but I stink at golf and really need all the extra help I can get. On the 8th hole, we could see a plethora of ladies up on the lawn bowling court. It was packed at 8pm on a Wednesday! I don't know what lawn bowling is, but they looked like they were having a fabulous time, with a full set of Olympic mountains behind them. There's also a driving range, a playground, a clubhouse with snacks and beverages ($2.50 for 16 oz High Lifes), and even a dude selling cherries in the parking lot. Something for everyone. I played really well, too, so I am a big fan of Jefferson. read more

Excited when the new driving range is built bc the current temp range is absolute junk. The mats are rock solid. Don't use the range here until the new one is completed. Waste of money. For ranges, go to UW or interbay. Course is in decent shape but on 11th hole it's a temp green. read more

This is a nice course on Beacon Hill south of Downtown Seattle. It is a wide open course that is pretty straight forward from tee to green without to many challenges. Aside from a few hills on the back nine it seems very vanilla. As a beginner this was a nice change of pace from the challenges of another nearby muni at West Seattle. Now that course was though! Highly recommended! They recently remodeled the entire place. New clubhouse, restaurant, added a new short 9 and FootGolf course, updated driving range with great view of downtown Seattle. The food was delicious and at a good price (I ordered the half bacon spinach salad, good portion, for $6). Everyone is very friendly and professional. read more

New driving range just opened up last Saturday. Brand new mats and Srixon range balls, and heaters. Lower and upper deck stalls available. I think it was a soft opening because the restaurant and the putting greens are not open yet. I would recommend they put benches to sit on and yardage listing for the target greens in the range stall area by grand opening time. Overall, nice improvement and glad it has finally re-opened. read more

We live nearby and love the golf course. My son gives it 3 stars but I might give it 4. There's a driving range, putting green and 18 hole course. I think the grass is in great shape but son thinks otherwise. I've been to other courses that are covered in bird droppings and this course has none of it. They have a nice little café where you can pick up some snacks to take on the course. We like the twilight rates which are really cheap. read more

This is a decent course that has some interesting holes but leaves much to be desired. For a links course, Id say it feels relatively secluded in the sense that you dont feel like a thin tree line is the only thing separating holes from each other. Pace of play was, well what youd expect for a muni on a saturday, we were in and out in 4.5 hours. The front nine is a pretty straight forward set of holes. Finishing with two par fives, it is a fairly simple layout and leaves a little bit to be desired. The reason this doesnt get a 4 star is because I have some serious gripes about the back nine. Starting out with three par threes makes one wonder why they paid 35 dollars for a glorified par three course. However, the par fours on the back are long and pretty challenging. Greens were punched 3 weeks ago so I wont grade them. If they were in good shape I could see this course being challenging as most of the putting surfaces are smaller and would require some precision and some shot making to stick it close. read more

It's not a bad course but it does have its challenges. They were forced to shorten several holes on the back nine due to the death of several trees screening the course from the houses on the other side. The rest of the holes are in decent shape and, of the other municipal courses I've played, this one seems to drain the best in our soggy weather. What a joke this course has become. Apparently after 101 years the 11th and 12th holes are "too dangerous" so now you have to start the back nine on 3 (that's right I said 3) consecutive par 3s?!?! As a par 69 and in less than ideal condition this course is mere shell of its former self and is now on the same level as a Foster or a Tyee in my opinion. Shouldn't be more than a $20 round out there for what you get. Very sad to see what's happened to this Seattle icon. Definitely won't be making the choice to play here again. read more

Irons only right now but still a great place to get a feel for your clubs. I am a new golfer and Jefferson has enough mats where you can just spread out and not feel like you're being judged lol. The ground does slope toward the back, but maybe you want a challenge haha. read more

Still in the process of remodeling but I bet the range is going to be beautiful once it's complete. The machine was broken so we had to walk across the street to purchase tickets for balls. Kind of annoying, but hopefully they'll come up with a more convenient solution once everything is complete. Try to play West Seattle or Jackson Park before settling for this place. This is meant as a constructive critique of Premier Golf's management of the Jefferson Park facility. I like this course but want it to be on par with the other two facilities in Seattle. I truly hope this is not what happens when for profit corporations (Premier Golf) take over formerly publicly owned and operated facilities managed by PGA professionals. I have been a member at other clubs managed by Nicklaus's, the PGA group and an on-site PGA pro. Clubhouse: Cannot call it a Pro-shop because have never seen a pro here in the half dozen times I have played here in the last month. Are lessons by PGA pro even offered? The people at the counter have very little personality (except Mark, who is great) and act as if they hate their job. No one in the place seems to be a golfer though. Just taking money and making change. Asked about the course and the greens and got a blank stare from the woman behind the counter. Rudely told the coffee was not ready for an early tee time. Rarely is coffee ready for the early tee times as the cafe is open but no one up front to take an order. Waited for over 20 minutes for eggs and bacon (one other customer). Food was palatable though. Starter (Fred i think was his name) is the only bright spot at this facility he was very helpful with information and his friendly demeanor gets your round started right. Th sign on the Food Shack at the turn says it does not open 'til 10:00 AM. Still no coffee nor edibles after 9 holes, more on this later. The course is average muni: not too many challenges. Fairways reasonable but need irrigation (as most public courses do) to make their quality match the greens. The greens were in excellent shape and very challenging. The greenskeeper is doing a great job. Pins were in tough locations and the contours were maximized. After the 16th hole the Food Shack is open (now 10:40) but only for drinks and packaged food. I hear the young man in the shack say "I know the sign says we open at 10:00 but I do not get here until 10:20 and the hot dogs wont be ready 'til 11" WTF! Overall the course itself is quite nice but the service is horrid (food/beverage AND clubhouse). I have played other Seattle Parks-Premier Golf properties (West Seattle and Jackson Park) and they are both top notch all-around (food/beverage, clubhouse and course quality). What is Premier's problem? Need new management at Jefferson Park? Maybe quit treating Jefferson as the poor cousin? read more

Let's start with the totally remodeled clubhouse and driving range . Great facility. The food is always above what we expected. As far as the golf course , they do the minimum to get by . No water on any holes . No cart person on the course . Snack shack at the turn always closed , Summer mornings . Spring mornings . This is an ok course. A raven ate my hot dog when I turned my back, and I've heard tales of the squirrels chewing through bags to get granola bars. So you've been warned. A word about pace-most of the rounds I've played here come in around 5-6 hours. That seems to be the speed most people play, and there's not much you can do about it. Last night I was only able to play eight holes due to pace and a high school team playing (which the starter told me would be out of my way), and the desk staff laughed when I asked if they would write me a rain check for the back nine. Kind of reminded me of the dad in Breaking Away- "refund? Refund?!!" It's an ok, easy to get to course. West Seattle is substantially nicer, and Jackson Park is more scenic, but there is nothing wrong with Jefferson. read more

I recently played at Jefferson. My experience that day was not a great one. I have to say that the old guy at the pro shop counter, was not at all pleasant to check in with. He was more concerned with arguing with us. rather that greeting us and sending us on our way to golf. Very weird. Then, while ordering food before the round, the long haired "Marshall" rudely stepped in front of me to try to use the soda fountain, and was complaining loudly that the machine was broken. I didn't need to hear that right in my face, when I just want to order food and be on my way. Then, the gal behind the snack counter was rather rude too...She was impatient with me when I ordered a sandwich and asked for it to go. After about 2o minutes, they remembered to make the sandwich and served it as a sit down item. I asked for my food to go again, and had to deal with rude service again. I don't think I will ever come back to Jefferson, even though the busy golf course was in decent shape. :0( read more

Very low-key muni course. Love that they have a driving range and can't believe there are so many courses in the Seattle Metro area without one. Also love the the range is lit and open late. I plan to go back many times this summer. read more

I'm not an experienced golfer, but the prices for their driving range were good, and if you spend time on the range around sunset you are treated to a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline as the sun goes down. The clubhouse offers a good variety of food, and I never pass up a chance to indulge in a big basket of their made-to-order crispy seasoned french fries (for only $5.00). Great place to come on a sunny Sunday. read more

New clubhouse--much improved over their old facilities. They have a cafe where you can smell charbroiled beef cooking, buy beverages, etc. Nice. The pro shop offers many different apparel, equipment, etc you might want to buy. The people at their desk were friendly. The course itself is okay. There isn't a marshall out there on the course, but that' pretty common nowadays. They do have decent bathrooms on the course. The greens are fast! Their Par 3 course is okay for kids but not for serious golfers. read more

The Jefferson course has acted as a gathering place for the Beacon Hill community for decades. It has provided a place for all ages to go play a fairly easy 18 holes and now enjoy a newly renovated double deck driving range. The facility is operated by the City of Seattle Parks department and is a PGC course so it does have a different feel now post renovation than it did before. Yes, it is newer, cleaner, and more state of the art with its updated look but it has lost a large element of the community comfort that it had before. It certainly comes with the territory of Beacon Hill moving towards a higher end residential neighborhood of Seattle but I would say the views from the course and the experience provided at the driving range meet expectation for a place to go practice, nothing more and nothing less. The cafe is also fairly expensive for the food though their beer selection was pretty good. read more

Love this place. Great in the summer. Hardly ever experienced slow play at the "Jeffy." I gave 4 stars because they are changing up a signature hole, #11. Neighbors threaten to sue if balls continue to break windows so the city closed the tee and ask players to walk to about 150 yards out from the green and drop the ball. Everyone is friendly, the driving range is great, the course is well-maintained for a parks course, the 3-par is as low-key as it should be, the atmosphere of the grill/bar and the putting greens are festive and fun, and the food is outstanding - house-smoked meats?! Been playing this nearby nine hole course for over 50 years. Yep, it's true. Used to learn golf there with my father so memories abound. It is close, good exercise, well maintained, and expertly run. To the well run point, I need to express appreciation to them for their finding my lost gap wedge. Seems I lost it on a warm day in Feb. and just realized it two months later (tough winter for local golf.) I asked at the desk for it by detailed description and there it was complete with a taped note on the day I lost it. Jefferson is a fine course for a 2 hour walk in the park with golf a bonus. Hint: buy the multiple round passes to save. read more

I feel extremely lucky that live equally close between West Seattle and Jefferson because both are very fun and have great greens. Jefferson is not a long course but is very narrow at times and strategic doglegs to make the most of the length of the holes. Because it is so popular, expect a 5+ hour round. Please yell "Fore!" on errant blind shots, don't assume it won't hit someone. Chances are it will because of how many people are on the course at one time. read more

The only thing I love more then playing golf, is playing affordable golf. This place is currently undergoing major construction which is sure to provide for a beautiful club house. The newly renovated driving range is beautiful and the 18 hole course isn't my favorite place to play but it is one of the cheapest! Don't waste you time on the executive course though. It is extremely difficult to find where each hole starts and which green to hit at. It's not real golf playing on that course. read more

This course is difficult. 3 of us ladies signed up to play and they made a guy join us. He took so long to tee off that we only played 10 holes in about 3 hours. It sucks that this course makes you pay for 18 holes irregardless and yet they make you play w someone you don't know who slows down and throws off your game. I won't play here again. The greens had holes and the ball jumped too much. Putting was super hard because of the condition of the greens. read more

Last night we had our sons' rehearsal dinner in the banquet room at Jefferson Park Golf Club. We couldn't have chosen a better place. Eric Robertson was very easy to work with, and very accommodating. Eric and his staff served a lovely banquet-style dinner that we had selected. From the appetizers, drinks, to the prime rib and salmon dinner, it was all delicious. The atmosphere had everyone casually talking and enjoying each others' company. We even got to use a couple of stalls in the driving range! I would highly recommend this place. read more
