On my take out order, I asked twice for mild BBQ sauce. Went back to work. No BBQ sauce for the brisket. Disappointed. Not worth going back and I don't want to have to inspect every meal I order to take away from anywhere. BUT I tried the brisket and it was perfect today. read more

great service, amazing food! we had the fishermen platter, smoked wings and bread pudding. the crab cake and shrimp were really good, and you could tell the Mac and cheese is homemade. the were fantastic, and didn't even need sauce. The bread pudding was actually what got us in the door after we saw it on the sign out front, and was so worth it. down home cooking and reasonable prices. we found our new date spot! read more

One of life's great pleasures is knowing that there are restaurants currently unknown to me and that by tomorrow may be one of my new favorites. That is what happened today after meeting up with my stepson in Leavenworth for his birthday lunch. He chose Bill's Kitchen and I'm so glad he did. Four of us ordered 4 different items and shared an order of gizzards as an appetizer. The waitress overheard me stating that I only eat Go Chicken Go gizzards and interjected, "ours are better". Well OK then, bring it on! A minimally light battering that covered the most tender gizzards I've experienced. A great start! I then ordered one of the daily specials - Rib tip plate with fries. Succulent and tender large pieces of meat with smoked goodness permeating the entire serving. The house cut fries were plentiful and better than most, but I wish I had tried the mac and cheese or potato salad after seeing those items from other diners. My wife ordered one of the strangest items I've encountered - Deep Fried Ribs! I traded some rib tips for a bone and it was not only unique but damn tasty. A large smoked rib bone with lots of beef dipped in the same great batter they used on the gizzards and then quickly deep fried and coated with a peach glaze. BBQ purists be damned, this was a game changer for me, the combination of flavors and textures hit all the right notes - crispy, smoky, sweet, fruity, succulent, tender...made me eager to come back for an entire order for myself. My stepson had a large plate of brisket and pulled pork and his girlfriend had the other daily special - brisket melt sandwich. Both plates looked great and received 2 thumbs up from each of them. We ordered a bread pudding that was best in class also. Bill the owner stopped by twice to check in on our dinner and provide background. A great guy that I'm more than ready to support in the future, and by future, I mean ASAP. read more

Grew up in Leavenworth and was back for a visit. Went to Bill's kitchen for barbeque. It was delicious and the service was great. Got to meet Bill himself. The meat was so tender that it fell off of the bones on the ribs. Be sure and ask for sauce so that the meat is not too dry. read more

Bill opened a new location @ 1000 N 7th St., Leavenworth, KS. My pregnant wife was craving okra and we found this little joint. They were super nice, hospitable, and the okra was great! Plus, it's inexpensive. I have yet to try their bread pudding and cookies but they looked so yummy read more

After living in Miami and Tampa over the last 20 years and eating numerous Cuban sandwiches from places there, I can say without a doubt that the Cuban at Bill's is the BEST I ever had. Seriously......I was not expecting that to happen and will probably get disowned. read more

We usually wait a minute to try out new places and Bill's Kitchen did not disappoint! We arrived for dinner about 6:30, service was a little slow, but the food made up for it! My date and I split the 1/2 fried chicken with mashed potatoes and added sides of coke slaw and potato salad to try out. It took a little asking to get drinks, but we knew the food would take a while, so that didn't bother us. All sides with our meal were excellent and the fried chicken was the best I've had ever I think...we tasted the different bbq sauces on the table also, Incase we want to come back and try the brisket/ribs. We will definitely be back! My date just ordered some bread pudding and there is a short wait for that also, fingers crossed it's as good as all the other items we've had tonight! read more

Just got done eating there today and have eaten there twice in the past. Food is pretty good. I had ribs, pulled pork, brisket, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, and bread pudding. No issue with any of the food and the bread pudding was really good. My four kids enjoyed the food as well. Additionally our server was very attentive. read more

We love the fried chicken and the ribs (which he keep moist and tender thru deep frying and BBQ'ing, with a wonderful rub) The gizzards appetizer will amaze you, while the crab cakes are delicate and savory. Bill's has great southern fried chicken. I am from the south and have been constantly disappointed with the quality of fried chicken outside of the south. Bill does it right. I would also recommend the gizzards it sounds crazy but give them a shot. The French fries are cut in house and are the best in town. Great down home people with friendliness to match. Probably the best fried chicken in Leavenworth. The fried chicken is truly like homemade, not like mass chain fried chicken. The pieces were huge and delicious. The batter was light and crispy, and the chicken was hot and juicy. The baked beans were pretty good, but I added some of their spicy BBQ sauce to jazz them up a bit. My wife had the smoked turkey sandwich and it looked really good, with plenty of meat. She said the taste was very good also. I had the brisket sandwich last week and it was pretty good too. My review is as far as BBQ, they are good and on par with anyone in Leavenworth. Much faster than All Slabbed Up and just as good. As far as fried chicken, I think they are the best in town. I plan to damage my cholesterol numbers more with their chicken in the future. I hope this place is successful as I enjoy the small business restaurants over the chains. read more

The chicken tasted good, and the fried gizzards were really good and tender. Two pieces of chicken, one side and corn bread is $8.99. The menu didn't specify how many pieces of chicken you get, and I got a dinner roll instead of cornbread. I ordered carry out, so the small tubs of butter, that I didn't realize were in the box, melted and spilled out soaking the chicken and fries. The fries have a good taste, and the people working there are friendly. For what you get, the chicken is about 25% more expensive than other places that sell fried chicken. Their menu is limited, which is not necessarily a bad thing because it focuses on BBQ and chicken only. I am curious about their deep fried ribs, so I will probably go back. It is also close to Fort Leavenworth, which makes it a convenient lunch possibility. I recommend trying it. read more

My wife and I have been several times. My wife loves the chicken and I really like the brisket. The staff is very friendly and personable. Bill usually comes by from the kitchen to ask everybody how they are doing and how their meal is. Their prices are good - equal to that other BBQ place in town; but I think their service is better and the food is at least as good. It's a nice, relaxed atmosphere to grab something to eat if you like fried chicken or BBQ. read more
