Did my google searching for photographers in Houston and contacted about a dozen. Perhaps half responded they weren't available, and half didn't respond. However, one adorable young lady in Austin (3 hours away), Julia Vie of Vivian's Muse, said she was very excited about shooting me! We exchanged several emails about the process and logistics and had an extended phone chat. My trepedation morphed into excitement and anticipation. Let's do this!! The big day! Julia shot perhaps 400 photos in an hour or so, all the while offering instruction, incredible encouragement and showing me what she had captured in her viewfinder. All with a monster camera and first class professional lighting. We shot on the couch, on the stairway, in the window, on the bed. Woah, so exhilerating! Nervousness was gone and my inner goddess had taken over. I'm not one for exaggeration but this was truly one of the best hours of my life. Back the next morning to review and select proofs. Oh no, her computer jammed up, wasn't happening. No problem in the digital age. We had more girly chat, comparing notes on all of the fun we had had the preceding day. A few days later the proofs arrived via email. I was blown away. OH MY! That cannot possibly be me. But...it is! Being a goddess, even for a short while, really gets in your head. And stays there. Who would have thought the idea of having a little fun by trying something different would turn into a life changing event? Thank you so very, very much Julia! Beyond her incredible diligence (all of our wedding photos were edited and posted online before we returned from our honeymoon), Elissa is also a very talented photographer who is very light on her feet. I met Yona through a suggestion from a friend but failed to do another other research on her. I…read morefailed to see until the end of the shoot that we canceled early is that she is not a woman that supports other women. We had our allotted time changed FOUR times, one was because I was sick and did not want to pass it along. She did not scout the area in advance so much of the time was spent looking for a spot that worked. She originally told me that she did not have time to do my makeup but when I showed up with makeup from another salon she said she needs to touch it. This is so she can put it onto her social media saying she did it. I told her no. Her husband said my make-up and hair (paid and done by someone else) was do-able. I hate that every time I look back at these photos I will remember how horrible Yona made me feel about myself. She constantly told me to suck it in, move a certain way so I wouldn't look like i had a stomach, a double chin or hunched. I explained to her that some of this is due to the fabric of the dress and not myself. But the other half was due to pandemic weight that I was consciously trying to loose. The photos that we ended up using were the ones that we suggested and arranged. We cut the shoot short because I was tired of not being supported in my shoot. We paid about $250-$300 for a small edited group of photos. **disclaimer** yona reached out to me on Instagram about the review and her 1st response was I got the number of edited photos sent to me. I deleted said number and put some. She did not apologize for making me feel bad or about her remarks. She is not a woman that supports other women.
