I was not able to attend my friend's funeral for her daughter, who died in an accident. I called to see if I could read a poem to the family over speaker phone. Which I have done before for a family member. they said "there's no way for them to do that." THERE IS A WAY! They just didn't have enough compassion for the family to let me do it. EPIC FAIL! I lost my mother suddenly on Jan 2nd. I came from out of state to deal with her funeral. She had nothing preplanned. I searched out funeral homes in the area. First on the list was Bill DeBerry. I looked at other places and kept coming back to Bill DeBerry. I called and spoke to Justin DeBerry. He set up a time for me to come in on a Sunday. I met with Andrew DeBerry. Andrew was awesome. He listened to what I needed and wanted. He didnt try and sell me anything I didnt need. He took care of my wishes and at a fair price. This family has been doing this for a number of years and knows the job. They were professional and right to the point. They treat you like family. The cost they give you is awesome. They still believe in their dads vision on how to treat to people. I just wish I could of used them when my father passed in 2007. If you ever find the need for a funeral home. Compassionate and honest. My husband's death was unexpected and Justin DeBerry was of great assistance with the planning and burial out of town. We personally experienced some delays from our end and he worked with us on it all. I would definitely recommend. Our family actually switched to this funeral home after a less than stellar experience with a different business. I was nervous about switching, but the experience with DeBerry was night and day different. They LISTENED to us. Accommodated our wants and needs VERY well. Their prices were extremely reasonable and transparent. Their facilities were clean, attractive and properly heated/ cooled to make for a comfortable environment. It was a surprise to me that other funeral homes don't have these same standards. From start to finish, the experience with DeBerry gave me confidence that things were being handled properly and all the staff I interacted with were compassionate, accommodating and supportive. Just got yelled at by an employee while at my grandmother's funeral. I spilled a drink. He threw a towel at me and told me, "That's why I told you there were no drinks allowed, now clean it up." ...by the way, I'm 6 months pregnant with twins and supposed to be at home on bedrest, drinking plenty of fluids. read more

My mother passed in my home last week. We had an upstairs suite set up for her. When the DeBerry employees came to pick her up, they complained to me about her being upstairs and how hard it would be to move her. I suppose I should have been more considerate about where my mother died. They were then joking about something as they were loading her into the car. Perhaps they have been desensitized to death, but it was my mother and I my family was still pretty sensitive as it had only been about an hour since her passing. Then the next day we met with Mr. Deberry about a service. We wanted to have a small service and reception. They could accommodate the service, but not the reception and actually referred us to the Best Western across the street as they had conference rooms we could rent. Seriously????? The only reason that I did not give them one star is that my mother had been a hospice nurse and had thought highly of them at one time. I can't speak as to whether the service has changed, but can only speak to the fact that my experience was cold and insensitive. read more

Someone wrote, " We unplugged the electric and audio cables of the microphone to move the podium " So you came into their business and started taking things apart and they were upset? Really? The Deberry family has cared for all of our loved ones, we hold them dear to our heart, of course we have never taken their podium apart either, I guess you'd say we have more respect than that. read more

I'll say what another reviewer said. If there was an option for 0 stars this Funeral Home would have earned it. And all thanks to the severe lack of respect displayed by Andrew DeBerry. He verbally berated my sister at our grandmother's funeral. Then, I instinctively stood up for her, and he began to verbally attack me. I walked away toward the chapel, where my grandmother's body lay, and HE FOLLOWED ME trying to continue the confrontation. I was APPALLED. I even said to him, you'd think being in this profession, you would have a better sense of how to deal with these sensitive situations. There is a thin line between sadness and anger, and he broke that line quickly with our entire family. Making it to where instead of spending that hour remembering my precious grandmother, I spent my time seething in anger and fighting back hot tears filled with crazy. This man provoked me, on purpose. After this altercation, my brother in law approached Andrew and asked that he apologize to my sister. Andrew then stated that my sister was a liar, was over reacting, and that he "didn't care" if my brother in law believed this garnered an apology. Andrew DeBerry has no right being in this line of work with his haughty, holier than thou attitude. Andrew- I hope you read this. If you would like $2.99 to replace the Better Homes & Gardens magazine my sister accidently spilled ice on, please let me know. I'll mail your rude ass a check. read more

My father used DeBerry when my grandfather died in the 80's. When my brother died in 2009, Mr DeBerry senior remembered my parents and was very kind and thoughtful towards us, as was everyone else there. We also used them when my mom died in 2011. Both times, we needed special caskets due to size issues, and they helped us without trying to pressure us toward higher priced choices. They were honest and open about what they thought we needed and didn't need. Don't want to use them again, but will when the time comes. read more

I attended my best friends mothers memorial service on Tuesday June 7th 2016 and first found it in very bad taste that the lawn service would be mowing at this exact time? Then right away I observed a very cranky looking man leering at little children as if in disgust. The children were only being children and if the family were not concerned, I don't know why he seamed so hateful. I later learned that he had been very disrespectful to my friends very pregnant daughter over a little spilled drink that others quickly cleaned up. I think that maybe he needs to reconsider his chosen line of work as consoling the recently bereaved in clearly not his forte. Maybe he would be better suited for somewhere in the correctional institute. I personally hope to not need this kind of service for quite sometime but if I did, I would certainly look elsewhere first. The one positive thing I can say is the older gray haired gentleman was very kind and understanding as all the staff should have been. read more
