We had the unfortunate event, last week, of having lost my brother in law. I called Local Cremation and Funeral services the night of-- after hours. Although, the girl on the phone couldn't tell me in full detail about pricing, and the different types of packages/services. She did assure me that if I called back in the morning, the funeral director would answer all of my questions. My family and I, lost and grief stricken, showed up at their Greenville location at about 9am the following morning, not having scheduled any appointments, or had talked to anyone. As soon as we showed up (unannounced), our funeral director Frank was there to help guide us through this very difficult ordeal, with such ease and comprehension. He was so thorough and detailed with his explanations. He was an absolute professional, and compassionate. Credit cards are accepted. They are very professional. You select from the services they offer and they take care of the legwork. They worked with the cemetery and pastor to coordinate activities. Nearly six weeks ago I met with Audra at this location to discuss pre-planning my cremation services as well as looking into transferring my mother's pre-purchased cremation services from a funeral home in another Texas city. I was told by someone at the original funeral home that the services should transfer to any funeral home within the state but that we might have to pay the difference. My mother now lives up here in the DFW area and as she ages I wanted to have plans/arrangements in place. In any event, when I met with Audra she took all our paperwork and made copies. She told me they would look into it to see what could be done and would get back to me. I have been waiting to pre-purchase my own arrangements because I wanted to get both plans at the same place. Since I never heard back from Audra I sent her an email 10 days later asking what she was able to find out about my mother's plan. She replied that she had been under the weather and was having someone look into it and would get back to me. Two-and-a-half weeks later I still hadn't heard back so this time I called her. She was unavailable to talk that morning so I left her a message to return my call. By late that afternoon I still had not received a return call so I sent her another email following up and again, no reply. A few days later I wrote her again as she still hadn't replied. To this day I have never gotten a reply to my phone call or any of my emails. I live in Tarrant County and drove all the way to the Dallas location to meet with her. I explained to her that I had been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and as a single person I wanted to pre-plan/pre-purchase my cremation services. I'm ok at the moment but wanted to have arrangements in place just in case my health declined and the worst happened. I also wanted to have my mother's arrangements in place so no one else would have to make those decisions in the event I wasn't around anymore. When I first met Audra I really liked her and liked the fact that she wasn't pushing services I didn't want. I honestly felt like she would be there to help me considering the sensitivity of my situation, but oh how I was wrong. It was most disappointing. I'll now start my search over again for an establishment wanting my business. read more

When our sister passed unexpectedly from a recent illness. We had several Funeral homes to choose from. With 40 years in the business and promises to care for our loved one at our time of need we chose LC. I spoke to after hours staff, very nice. Was told an "Advisor" would call us the next day. I had to call LC. Frank sent a heartfelt email when we decided to handle signatures by mail. I emailed questions, docs and left a VM. No follow up. I had to call them. It took a lot not to call someone else to take over. But i did not want do that to my sister or put my family through that. We have been through enough. Maybe it depends on the client, the situation. I don't know. I just know they could have done so much better. And we aren't done yet. No recommendation. read more

My son passed away recently and I live in California. I was given a list of funeral/cremation homes by the Dallas Medical Examiner's office. In addition to the list, I searched through Yelp as I am not familiar with the area, and to put total strangers in the care of your son was frightening. When my father passed away, we chose Local Cremation & Funerals to handle his graveside service and burial. My father passed away in Houston and we wanted to have the service in Dallas, so we worked with aCremation in Houston and they coordinated with Local Cremation & Funerals in Dallas. They were great. Not only was their price literally a thousand dollars less than another funeral home I found (that claimed to be affordable), but when I made the arrangements, they did not try to sell me anything other than what I said I wanted. I was prepared for a high-pressure sales pitch and being made to feel guilty because we weren't buying an expense casket, doing embalming, etc. That's the opposite of what happened. Yes, they explained the options that were available (which was helpful), but it was informative, not "salesy". It actually cost less than I thought it would. Everyone I talked to was professional and helpful. They handled all the details of bringing our father from Houston to the cemetery, arranging for the Naval Color Guard, and providing the guest book, flower stands, etc. I really expected that, because they were the lowest price, we were going to get less service. But that just wasn't the case at all. They were much better, than the funeral home we used for my mother, that charged us for every little thing they did. We were able to give our father the wonderful service he deserved, without going into debt to do it. I most definitely recommend Local Cremation, and want others to know that there is such a thing as an affordable funeral in Dallas. It turns out not having to deal with a mega funeral home like Dignity was the best decision we made during such a difficult time. I lost my mother in law to Covid and wanted to handle all the paperwork and difficult parts with loosing a loved one, so my husband and his family didn't have too. I called many funeral homes and never got a call back. DO NOT use Local Cremation! When you are looking for a vendor to help you with a very intimate and difficult experience, these are NOT the people to turn to. I contacted them about a month and a half ago to make pre-arrangements for my father's cremation. I was put in touch with a man named, Anton, who promptly sent me an email with a quote on how much the cost would be, as well as the process. I attempted to follow up with this individual for an entire month! He never answered a single email of mine. When I would call their offices, I was given the complete run-around. No one was willing to step up and help, but instead would push you off to someone else because it was "not their job." You can only imagine my frustration with them. When facing a very difficult situation such as a death in the family, you would expect the people at a funeral/cremation service to have empathy and work with you. That is not what these people are about! Finally after an entire month and a half of trying to get help, I was directed to a man named Jim. I spoke to him about what I needed and gave him my email address, I was direct and short with him stating that all I need was for him to send me the paperwork. At this point, I was ready to work with another service but wanted to give them one last chance. A day goes by and still no email from Jim. I called him the next morning to let him know that I did not receive his email and he berates me. Instead of trying to resolve the situation, he blames every other person and situation, not even willing to look and see if he sent it to the wrong address (he wouldn't bother because it wasn't in front of him). I had to hang up the phone because I couldn't take any more of it. The entire experience was completely inappropriate, unprofessional and this business needs to look into their internal network because if you are unable to follow-up, be professional, have empathy, then you are in the wrong business. Go with another company who will take your needs seriously. All the best to you! read more

Everybody at Local Cremation were very friendly and professional. Had a great experience. Asked them to help with some additional tasks that were a bit more difficult because the cemetary is in a small TX town, difficult to locate both the cemetary itself and the people responsible for burial. They handled all the details to perfection. We had a burial-side service -- the display, the seating, the awning, all was very well done. The family and guests were very pleased with the outcome. Audra was my point of contact and she made this a very easy process. She didn't rush us or try to "make a sale". Everything was done with care and concern. We didn't have a church or pastor but she was able to help us identify a church which was across the street. The cost was thousands less than what other providers quoted us so that was also helpful. My experience started out ok - the price was right, they seemed friendly and they came out quickly to get the body after they let us wait until everyone came by. However, make sure you ask them if the remains will "fit" in the urn -- they called to tell me that our remains were ready to be picked-up; when I got there, she said, "oh, he didn't fit in the urn you picked - you can scatter the rest of the remains and/or put them in keep-sakes." She said that it was because he was a tall man, but since he was 5'10", old, and extremely skinny when he died, it made me wonder if they had the right body. I would have thought they would have told me about any sizing limitations on the urns before you pick them out and buy them. Oh, and they had put the urn in a flimsy white paper shopping bag like you would get from a store, as though I was going to just leave and everything would be ok. I stated that this would NOT be ok with my mother and they allowed me to shop for a new urn. I asked for assurance that ALL of his ashes would be transferred to the new urn (old urn rinsed or something?, since I knew nothing about how they got all the ashes out of the old one and into the new one -- all they could say was "yes, we will, but the urn you originally picked couldn't hold the plastic bag we usually put inside" -- again - hmmmm. A few days later, they called to say the remains were ready -- this time, again, they had it in a paper bag -- I said, "don't you have a box, like the box the urn probably came in, so I can carry it in my car without it flopping all over the place?" They found one and wrapped the urn in bubble wrap so I thought it was ok and left. When I got the new urn home, I noticed that the coating had come off in some spots and it had scratches on the top -- I wonder if someone's ring scratched it? I didn't have the time, patience or emotion to go back and complain. I felt like my experience was ok but left an awful lot of room for improvement. If you don't know the answer, don't make something up and be a little more mindful upfront so no one else has to go through this! read more

My mother passed away recently at the age of 92. When her health started declining in 2011, I visited with Local Cremation and set up her funeral. She had been so ill that I thought she was going to pass soon, at that time. As luck would have it, we were blessed with 6 more years with her before she passed. Local Cremation still had my file with all the details I had previously chosen which was so great because it is really hard to think when you are grieving. When my mother died in January, we used another well known local funeral home. The cost was quite high, and it was 3 1/2 weeks before her cremains were available for burial. They had been instructed to send them directly to the National Cemetery but when I picked up the death certificates, the girl at the reception desk mistakenly tried to give my mother's remains to me, literally plopping the container on the counter at the window like a delivery from Amazon! The whole experience made us realize we need to do our own pre-planning so our kids would not have this same experience. That is when I found Local Cremation. Unfortunately we had anoter death recently so I called them. They responded immediately, even though it was Mother's Day afternoon. Everyone was professional, courteous, respectful. Sonya kept us informed and the entire process was dignified and compassionate. I highly recommend their services. The cost is more than reasonable and the service far excelled what we experienced with another more traditional establishment. Although not stated, Local Cremation seems Christian based, focusing more on serving families than on profit. So appreciate their kindness. read more

Two days after my mother passed I was still distraught and emotional as could be expected I went into local cremation Louisville round Grove office signed a contractual agreement to witness my mother's cremation where I was going to pray and say goodbye this was on a Monday on a Friday the guy called me and said all the medical examiner docs were signed and that he would schedule the private viewing next week and that they did not do cremations on the weekend well on Monday we got a call 10 minutes before closing time after we left 4 messages that day asking about the scheduling and on that call he said I'm sorry we made a mistake we cremated her Saturday 2 days ago it was the new guy's fault we were backlogged and your mother was a part of the cremation backlog so I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to tell her goodbye but it's too late and you can pick up the remains on tomorrow I want everyone to know that before you select Local cremation on round Grove Avenue that you seriously consider the risk of how careless they are with the regard for the dignity of burying someone. they are very careless and thoughtless and they have no regard to the impact that it does to someone when they can not tell their mother goodbye really think about it before you select local cremation Lewisville Texas because there's no way to undo that wrong no way for me to get that chance back to tell my mother goodbye or to see her one last time even though we had a signed agreement because they're pinning this on a new guy sad sad sad sad service don't go to local cremation save yourself heartache read more
