There are classes of so many types of yoga - mostly hatha, but also kundalini, core, vinyasa flow, pre-natal, kids, even some offered in Punjabi. Check out the online schedule, as there are all sorts of other special offerings like reiki, meditation, zumba, and who knows what might be offered next?? It's always changing. Now, the prices - wow, it is the least expensive yoga I can find in the Lower Mainland. This is a wonderful studio that is trying hard to bring yoga to the community in Surrey. Yes, it's that great that I would LOVE it if you came and put your mat next to mine. See you soon! Why do I give it 4 stars only? Because most of the classes are in the evenings, so are less convenient for me. My hubby is really cute and open to joining me for yoga, but only wants to do mmeeellllloooowww yoga after work, so I have to choose between yoga and hanging with him. Now THAT sucks. ;)

Bikram Yoga White Rock is THE best studio of the bunch: The first thing you'll notice is how clean it is, and how nice it smells in there. The hardwood floors and aromatherapy really add to this. I find the change rooms to be larger, cleaner and better-appointed than any other studio. The cool-down room is more spacious than other studios. The second thing you'll notice is how friendly the staff are. I brought my teenage daughter into BYWR to try Bikram for her first time tonight, and the staff couldn't have been more supportive. Keep up the good work, BYWR!

As noted in other reviews, it is very clean and cozy feeling, in addition to possessing more than sufficient shower and changing space. A few things that really struck me were that when I showed up for my first class, they gave me a towel, a mat, a bottle of water, and then escorted my into class to make sure I was comfortable. They also gave me a follow-up call the day after to make sure I was feeling alright and to thank me for coming. Finally, they have tons of special pricing packages, so I was able to sign up for 90 days of unlimited yoga for a very reasonable amount of money. If you are considering Hot Yoga, I definitely recommend that you give it a try at Bikram Yoga White Rock. I have been going for over a month now, 2-3 times per week...and I can see a huge difference in my flexibility as well as my balance. It's lovely.

Being able to touch my toes This place has me converted from yoga videos at home to practicing yoga on a (real!) mat with (real!) people. I love that this place has a LOT of hardcore yoga people but in no way do they give off that vibe. There are so many classes at varying levels that you can challenge yourself to progress from hatha to hatha flow to power flow (or Andrew's wild thing wednesdays if you're pretty advanced OR an idiot like me who thought that was supposed to be an easy class...fyi, I survived but barely). They will also tell you that most classes are multilevel since you can always do modifications if you're just starting out...Don't be afraid to take it to the next level if you can. I love going to Chris, Karens, Nicole or Andrews classes. The good news? Not only can I touch my toes, I can freakin' do side planks and full pushups now! Six months ago, I would have told you that was crazy talk. There's still no way in hell I can do those pretzel-y poses but hey, it's a start.

Can't tell if the instructor modified the pace of the class for us or if it's typical for the class to go from one pose to another. The instructor had to help us a lot and we skipped completing some poses fully so the class could move on but it was quite intimidating to be in a full class where people could easily go into the poses and we were struggling... the tone was a lot more zen than upbeat so at times it felt inappropriate to laugh even though you can't help but let out some chuckles when you know you/your friends are being a little ridiculous and just not getting the hang of it. We ended off the session with an upside down pose. While the instructor taught us how to get into the pose, they didn't teach how to get out of it yet and I was stuck upside down for quite a while while they were helping out my friends. Ended up leaving the session feeling very sick as I was hanging upside down for longer than I had liked. I'm glad I tried it but it's probably not a sport that's for me. If you're new, be sure to let the instructor know right off so they can get you in a good spot and so they can actively watch and correct you throughout the session.
