I have been visiting this Studio for about a month and a half now, previously practiced Bikram @ Ferndale Bikram and various other temporary-seeming places. The first time, unlimited class package is a great bargain if you were to compare pricing to other locations in the vicinity. There are showers as well as lockers for storage as classes sometimes are 90min+ . Wide variety of instructors which I always value. I've just started my second month and the rate is 130$. They offer towels, as well (I've never taken one, though) and easy sign up through the mobile app. I have noticed the temperature during class between seasons can vary, which is very important to me (bc otherwise it's just regular yoga, which isn't worth 130$) so I am a stickler. Classes during the weekend are very packed at times (earliest being10AM) . I prefer sessions @ 6AM during the week. Hopefully they begin offering the same time over the weekends. TLDR; worth the cost (ONLY if you stay consistent and go x2-x3 a week) . Sometimes teachers will make tea post-session. All around decent vibe. Clean facilities. Always has body wash. Small parking lot. I have not sensed any weirdness at all (sometimes is an issue at studios w heavy culture) --That's what it's about ! Would recommend to someone w a frequent practice read more

the instructors are amazing and huge space and the vibe is amazing will be back soon loved the space and plants in the main space and just a very nice place read more

I started my yoga journey at this studio last year. Very nice facility. The instructors are amazing- Evelena, Mimi, and Ashley . Also loved that the studio was very close to my apartment and the hospital that I work at. The membership is rather pricey per month, that's the only reason I stopped going. Definitely would recommend dropping into a class here. read more

Beautiful large space to practice. Nice vibe and Mimi was a great instructor. Will be back:)

I absolutely love Midtown Yoga. I was a newbie to Bikram when I started and now it's been just over a year since I've been coming. The instructors are wonderful teachers and are so kind. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a healthy body and mind. read more

This is a great location for the downtown, midtown crowd. Parking is probably going to be ab issue for most, gratefully I work at nearby DMC and an park there. My first class was with Susan. She was so warm and encouraging. The other participants were also very kind and helpful. No judgy, snobby types here. The class is very challenging and of course the room is steaming but thats what we came for! I like that it is very clean. They have water for purchase and a full locker room for you to get showered, dressed and start your day off right. read more

Bikram Yoga - On Canfield near Cass, a welcome addition to the neighborhood. - Yoga Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

-I went here to try one class and ended up signing up for a month's worth of classes. They have a special right now where it's 49 bucks for a month of unlimited classes, which is a pretty amazing deal so I couldn't pass it up. The classes are TOUGH for sure. I really had to struggle to get through the first one, but I felt so good afterward, I went back and it did get a little easier the second time around. I at least didn't feel like throwing up and/or passing out at any point. I like that the classes are predictable and you know the first half is standing and if you can get through that the rest of it is on the floor - no that the floor exercises are by any means easy, just easier. I also like that we do everything twice so if you can't quite get it the first time around you can try again. The instructors are really great. They really pay attention to what everyone is doing and offer advice to the group that is very helpful for correcting your form. There is another free parking lot for the studio around the corner on Cass and Willis. Both times I've been there the lot right next to the studio was full, but the other was empty, and there was plenty of space. read more

I originally got a Groupon for this place and loved the Bikram workouts. I lost weight and I always felt detoxed after class. After my Groupon expired, I was shocked at the high prices for regular memberships. Nearly $100/month for a STUDENT? Pretty outrageous. Lifetime Fitness is around $79/month and they offer everything you could possibly want in a gym, including hot yoga. For me, the value just didn't match the price. Anyways, I signed up for a 3-month special with auto-pay and had to move out of Detroit during my second month due to an unexpected housing situation. I politely contacted the owner asking to end my contract early before I was charged again and received no response. Most gyms/fitness organizations have termination agreements if you more than x amount of miles away from the place and can provide proof- apparently this place doesn't have that? I wasted money for absolutely nothing and it makes it really difficult for me to come back here after feeling completely ripped off. read more

This is my bikram yoga studio. I love it! It's right down the street from where I live. They open 30 minutes before each class. You don't have to sign up beforehand but they have that option. Bring a large towel, small towel, and at least a half gallon of water! You be thirsty. They also have water and other beverages available. The instructors are extremely nice. Each one has their own way of teaching but the curriculum is the same, 26 poses and 2 breathing techniques. read more

I've been to my fair share of Bikram studios in the metro Detroit area (I'm not a player, I just...sweat a lot?), and Bikram Midtown Detroit is my favoritest of favorites, by leaps and bounds and pole vaults. THE STUDIO: The whole establishment has a modern but warm feel to it, and the studio itself is lofty and spacious, with high ceilings, fans (yay), gorgeous exposed brick, and a random but well-loved peacock that presides over the class from the locker room. I love that there are two exits, with a fun mezzanine area leading up to one. You would think most studios would be well ventilated like this one, given the nature of the activity, but let me tell you, they are not. (I'm looking at you, Bikram Grosse Pointe and Troy.) I really shouldn't be able to tell what the person in the class hours before mine smelled like. Luckily for us, at BYMD, you can't. (Bonus: the locker rooms are clean/well-kept, and the fun shower gels they supply are used as a one-up mechanism in my household: "You used Go Go Guava today? Well, I got YumYum Yumberry!") THE INSTRUCTORS: I lurve them! Sarah is encouraging, fun, and just so darn adorable. Tony, Mr. Japanese-Ham-Sandwich, peppers his classes with relevant anecdotes, and will push you to go just a bit farther than you thought you were capable of (love it). Suzanne is probably one of the few people I can tolerate talking at 6 a.m.: she's soothing, uplifting, and will walk around and correct your posture with the gentlest touch. (Sorry, Other-Instructors who I haven't met yet.) THE ACTUAL YOGA: If you are a newbie, try to attend at least 3 or 4 (consecutive, if possible) classes before you decide if Bikram for you. It takes getting used to, but the nausea does go away, and the experience gets more amazing. Consider signing up for a 30-Day challenge: I loved the camaraderie I felt with the other challengers, and the consistent practice helped me to really understand the postures better. THEY DON'T LIE: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, not just right before and during class. Get sleep; going to Bikram sleep-deprived is a recipe for vomit and dizziness. DON'T eat in the two hours before class! No, seriously. The food won't taste as good the second time it's in your mouth. read more

After much anticipation (many more months than any of us could have wished for) Bikram Yoga Midtown Detroit is finally open! Finally residents and workers in Midtown and surrounds can enjoy the original hot yoga. For those of you that have been living under a rock, Bikram's beginning Hatha yoga class is a series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises, which is suitable for ALL ages and levels of ability. The Bikram method stimulates every organ, muscle and ligament in the body, giving you e GREAT workout and restoring all systems to a healthy working order. Okay, enough of the blah blah already. What's the big deal? Huge, spectacular space. Half naked sweaty bodies (hey its 105 so you know it's packed all winter!) building strength and flexibility, not to mention mental clarity and focus, for 90min. This is NOT sit on your bum and chant "om" yoga. This is a really intense workout. As a result it's mentally and physically challenging . Some hate it. Most become addicted. Your call... read more

It is a nice facility but over the course of a four month membership, escalating negative attitude seemed to flow from a staff member who always seemed to be there. There was no possibility of quietly avoiding him/her. My vehicle was broken into in the parking lot and things taken. At my last class there a large intimidating person showed up. Twice in an otherwise empty large space she/he beelined too close to me and repeatedly glared at me during and after the class. Just the thought of going there again makes my skin crawl in fear. I forfeited the remaining weeks of membership. read more

I sadly had to recently leave Bikram Yoga Midtown as I am now working in L.A., however, for the 9 months that I was there, I absolutely loved it! When I started, I was going through a lot of transitions in my life and this studio helped me grow not just physically, but spiritually and mentally as well. It's really quite astounding what you are capable of! From the phenomenal teachers, to the beautiful, open setup of the studio, to the large and clean shower facilities, what more could you ask for? I truly felt at home there. Watch out for the instructor, Tony! He will definitely push you to do your absolute best, every time! Me, being very competitive, usually accepted his challenges and grew in my practice immensely. I can't thank you enough Tony! Sarah, the owner, is amazing as well. She always welcomes everyone in with open arms and greets you with a warm smile that makes you feel like you are in the right place :) If you are wondering if this is the place for you, the answer is YES! Just do it! You won't regret it! I will tell you that when I walked out of my first Bikram class, my girlfriend (who basically dragged me there) asked how I liked it. I responded, "Well, I didn't hate it, but I definitely didn't love it!" Just give it a few classes, trust me, it will become part of your life as it has mine! L.A. has some great studios, but none like my home at Bikram Midtown! XO read more

Went to Bikram Yoga studio for the first time. Absolutely loved it. I am a bigger guy and figured I would be out of place but that was not true at all. Best workout I EVER had.I would highly recommend a visit. read more

I started going here after moving from Ann Arbor - must say that the floor is much nicer at this studio than the carpet they have in A2, it's kind of a composite / rubber material. The instructors are really great, and the locker/shower areas are always clean and orderly. The free parking is about two blocks away, very convenient to not have to worry about meters regardless of the distance IMO. read more

Moved to Detroit from San Francisco where I've been doing Bikram for 20 years, and discovered Detroit has the best Bikram studio. Roomy, great facilities and perfect floor that drains instead of unpleasant Bikram carpet. And of course friendly staff. read more

This studio has the most diverse student base. You see people of all ethnicities, body types, and ages. It's a very welcoming studio.

I've practiced Bikram for a few years on and off and this studio is so beautiful I had to make a review. The rustic/loft/ with a splash of modern vibe throughout the studio is just everything! Owner is nice! Very spacious read more

Really beautiful facilities and great staff. Very challenging, VERY hot class - but you can take breaks if you need to and the instructors encourage you to respect your limits while challenging yourself. They have a pretty sweet deal - $35 for the first two weeks. Check it out! read more

Finally! Bikram is in Detroit! It is a beautiful studio with excellent instructors. They are doing wonders by creating a community that enjoys a great workout and body cleanse. Now if only the city could fix the meters out front to eliminate the parking struggles... read more

While I don't have many yoga experiences to compare to, this place is great! The facility is VERY clean and the locker room is quite nice. The studio is HOT, but is fresh and doesn't smell sweaty or stagnant like I've read about other yoga studios. The owner, Sarah, is very friendly and accommodating to new Bikram participants. Newbies do not fear, you will fit right in and LOVE your experience. read more

Gorgeous space, wonderful atmosphere. I am not a yogi by any means but after the Yelp elite event here I ended up attending several more classes. They truly make you feel incredible. The urban setting with big windows looking into Midtown Detroit is inspiring- the bathroom and showers clean. The staff is informative, kind, professional. I could rave about this place for an hour! Even if you are the utmost beginner like me, go ahead and attend some classes. There is no judging and it feels like your body and soul do a detox. I wish they were more affordable for my budget - if it had childcare included it would fit more into my lifestyle right now. If you are able to though - it is worth the pennies! What a beautiful place. read more

Came here for a 90 minute session and boy, it was intense! I would definitely eat beforehand, have a lot of water, and don't situate in the back of the room where the heater is above. I could feel the heat more than I wanted to and I think the entire back row felt the same thing because we weren't able to continue on around the 50/60 minute mark. I really enjoyed the staff - the instructor was great and light hearted which made me feel comfortable and ambitious to complete each exercise. Very enjoyable and the facilities were clean which is a huge plus! read more

Giving my experience TONIGHT ONLY a one as usually it is a five every Monday night with Dane as the usual instructor. Tonight I do not know who this instructor was but I've never had anybody speak to me in such a rude manner. She stared at me as if I was dumb while I was trying to explain to her that I am usually late 10 mins on Monday nights due work constraints. The usual instructor is understanding of this. If someone like this is employed (I didn't get to get her name as she just wanted me out of her sight) I will not be repurchasing any package. Also I feel like my good money for prepaid for tonight just went down the drain. read more

I just went here for my first bikram hot yoga class !!! Sarah was an amazing teacher and very encouraging !!! The place is very beautiful !!! I am so excited hot yoga has come to Detroit ! This space and people are truly outstanding ! read more

The reason I am giving 3 stars is because the philosophy and practice of Bikram are just not for me. However, if Bikram is your practice of choice this spot is very nice. The facility is clean and spacious with a lot of class options. The instructors seem knowledgeable in their practice and willing to help. Again, the same 26 poses and short boogie shorts just is not for me, but give this place a try if you want Bikram and not another yoga practice. read more

I currently live in NY, but decided to try this studio on one of my trips home. The studio is nice, and very modern. I have practiced at four other studios, two in NY and two in metro Detroit. There was one thing I did not like about this studio. Too many people left during the class, which was distracting. The studio where I typically practice (in NY) informs newcomers that the only goal is to stay in the room, so seeing people leave was weird. My recommendation to anyone going here is to bring your own towels and water. Their prices are high in my opinion...$2 for a towel (the first isn't even free), and $3 for a 32 oz. SmartWater. I would recommend this location. It is easy to get to, and the staff is nice. read more
