Great service, faster than estimate-. Noticed other things needing repair on my son's beat up used bike saving us another trip for further repair. Friendly and helpful loading bike in car. Only would recommend delivery of repaired bikes. , read more

Staff is friendly and helpful. great selection of bikes and bike gear. My go-to bike shop!

Like most of the other local bike shops, these guys have great customer service. They'll take the time to answer your questions and will do minor tune ups like oiling the chain for free. They're pretty strict with COVID. You can ring a bell outside of their door and they'll meet you outside. read more

Disc brake on my mountain bike required bleeding. Adam did this while I waited. He saved me an additional hour round trip drive to pick up my bike. This repair was performed the day before Thanksgiving. Had he not gone the extra mile, I would've been bikeless until Bikesmiths reopened on Saturday after Thanksgiving. Customer Service is Rock Solid! read more

I just bought my very first bike from Bikesmiths and it was a fantastic experience!! I have never owned a bike before (except for one with training wheels I had as a little kid) and Jeremy was super patient answering my millions of questions. He even helped me figure out how to ride home without getting killed in the traffic. I'm new in town and this was a really great start to living here. Go buy a bike from Jeremy! read more

I visited the shop to look for a new helmet for my commuter bike. I explained that I've been using the same helmet for my road & commuter bikes, and was interested in something "cuter" for my rides around town. When the sales associate heard this, he LAUGHED at me. I just stared at him, since it was an actual question, and he mumbled and then pointed to their stock of white & yellow racing-style helmets, explaining that those colors are easier for cars to see (no sh%t, dude). A few minutes later, my husband walked in and asked a question about his road bike- they answered him without any hesitation. Commuter-style helmets are not cutting edge stuff (Bern, Pryme, Giro, Nutcase, etc), but I wouldn't have cared that they didn't stock that type of merchandise if the employee had treated me differently. Instead, I was looked down on for asking a simple question. Male or female, we all care about what our bikes look like. I am not any less of a cyclist for wanting a helmet that I think is attractive, nor does being a female who says the word "cute" mean that I'm stupid and can be laughed at. This type of attitude is what keeps people from riding and I'm disappointed to see it in a "bike town" like Bloomington. I typically like to support local stores, but I went home and shopped on Amazon that night. read more

Best Bike Shop in Bloomington! And that is saying a lot as Bloomington is a bike-centric town! They have the most knowledgeable and helpful staff and I have no idea why anybody would go anywhere else. If they don't have it they can order it. We took my dad there for a new bike (he had been riding around an old, waaaay heavy bike around the neighborhood and had not been on a 'real' bike before). The staff took their time with him, listened to what his needs were, and we ended up walking away with a bike that day! The B-Line Trail is located at the back of the store so there is plenty of space to try out the new bikes. This is the place to go for both pros and novice bike people. read more

Took my sons bike in for a brake job, team there was very knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. Had his bike done in a day, works like a dream. Price was spot on, I'll continue to have my bike work done there. read more

Thanks to Bikesmiths for getting my little red wonder back on the road! These guys are super friendly and charged me a reasonable price for labor/parts! If you need bike repairs in Bloomington, look no further! read more

Bikesmiths Bicycle Shop - Bikes Near Me - Bloomington, Indiana

I visited Bikesmiths to buy my teenage daughter a road bike. I'd bought my other daughter's hybrids in the past few years and was happy with both the bikes and the courteous service. We had no experience with road bikes (to the point that I had to ask how to shift the gears!) but the staff member was very patient, explained the difference between the models of bikes and went over the operation of the bike at length. He put the bike on the rack and explained the mechanics and use of the gears as well. We were very pleased with the non-condescending attitude the shop had to a pair of novices and the great advice we received. My daughter bought a number of accessories and these were installed and the bike ready within the hour. Our third great experience buying a bicycle at Bikesmiths! read more

We were in Bloomington for the weekend (my husband and I), and I should add we both have really cheap bikes that most bike stores would probably laugh at. Bikesmiths does not usually do repairs on a Friday, but since we had planned on biking all around town, they fixed up my husband's bike in a few hours at a very reasonable price. We stopped in a second time to buy a bike lock. Then, we couldn't get air in my tire at the pump, and they took care of that for free. These guys were so nice and approachable. When I'm ready to upgrade to a better bike, I will surely come here! read more

A buddy and I were traveling cross country and stopped in for some chamois butter. It wasn't a big purchase, but we got lots of fantastic advice on the next leg of our trip. read more

Unbeatable service. I sent my bike in and got a new chain, tape, and cables. They even tightened my water bottle holder that was taped up. All in one week! You cannot beat their service and quality. read more

Bikesmiths took excellent care of me and my bikes for the nearly two decades I lived in Bloomington. When I was fresh out of undergrad and couldn't afford to have someone work on my bike, they helped me find tools and lent me theirs when I needed something I couldn't buy in town. Later, they helped me with everything form special orders when I needed just the right vehicle for commuting, to picking the right accessories, to maintaining my bike better than I can myself. read more

I bought a Giant here. While I love the bike, I have not been very happy with this bicycle shop. As a beginner, I was willing to spend for a higher level bike. Although, I felt as a beginner that the staff was NOT helpful. They seemed less than enthused to help a beginner. I am no longer a beginner, and have found a much better bicylce shop in Bloominton, "Revolution Bike & Bean". I'll not return to Bikesmiths! read more

I had a good experience going here to get my brakes tightened. I don't know very much about biking, but have so far been to three different bike shops in Bloomington (regarding various problems with my bike), and I had the best experience here. The staff was down-to-earth and the person who helped me diagnosed my bike issues very clearly. I appreciate that they recognize that bikers (and bikes) come in all shapes and styles, and not everyone is a "serious" biker training for the next tour-de-france. Also the price was very affordable. read more

No matter where I am in Bloomington, I always go to this bike shop. here's why. I bought a lock years ago. It had a "lifetime warranty." I went to the bike shop near my office and they asked me if I bought it there. I couldn't remember. They looked me up but didn't find the lock on my account. The guy behind the counter also said that they had recently upgraded their computer system, so it only went back five years. if I bought it before that, I was out of luck; it wouldn't show anyway. And besides, I had owned the lock for long enough. Or so he said. So much for a "lifetime" warranty. Undeterred, I walked to Bikesmiths. I showed them the lock. They didn't even asked me where I bought it. They could see they sold the same lock, so they took it and gave me a new one, no questions asked. That did it for me. Another time, I came with a flat tire and told them that it had happened numerous times in the last few months. They changed it and didn't even charge me for labor. This is a terrific store. I won't go anywhere else. read more

Went here today because I had a flat tire and was struggling to get it repaired at home. The tech stopped the work he was doing to repair my tire and had me out in no time...even explained what I had been doing wrong. Exceeded my expectations!! Their selection of bikes and accessories is entirely high-quality. In some cases their prices reflect that, but I think it's worth it. read more

Good, quick service at a reasonable price. My partner bikes seriously and he swears by Bikesmiths. I do find the staff a little unfriendly toward non-experts. Which is odd because I feel like the whole point of paying professionals to fix your bike is that you don't need to know how to do it yourself. Oh well. read more

Needed a quick replacement for my old bike. The gave me a fair trade for the old one and had me on my way with a new Cannondale. I was back on the road satisfied with the service. This shop is located just off the square in Bloomington, Ind. read more

dmittedly, I am riding a bicycle that belonged to my father when he was in college. You can imagine the amount of work that it would need to get back on the road and running smoothly. I had done a lot of the repairs and upgrades myself, but needed my brakes redone and did not have the skills to do this. So, on a friend's recommendation I went to the Bikesmiths. I was expecting to pay a lot for the parts and repairs (breaks, reflectors, bottle holder, etc.). 3 days later they call and it was under $50 for all parts and repairs! I was exstatic. It rides smoothly, looks great and didn't kill my wallet. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and made the experience all around excellent. read more

Bikesmiths is my favorite Bloomington bike shop. Staff is really helpful and friendly. They always ask if I need help finding anything when I walk in the door and never make me feel like an idiot. You might think that in such a small space you won't need help finding things but you will because there is so much crammed in here. Staff has helped me understand how to fix some simple things and chose bike chain grease. I wish they offered more commuter/city bikes and more bicycle commuting accessories, bags, and clothing. read more

I love this bike shop! I'm a beginner, and they always treat me with respect. I recently bought panniers here and they were less expensive than what they were on-line, and so was the trunk rack I was considering. I was preparing for an overnight trail ride and the employee even spent time on-line to confirm some information about the trail for me. Top notch customer service. read more

I recently bought a new bike here, and I have to say that the buying experience was great. I am new to Bloomington and was looking for a way to get to and from school. I stopped by one day to survey the options and the employee I spoke to was very helpful in helping me find the right bike for me, but never pressured me to buy anything. I ended up coming back the next day to buy the bike. My review would be five stars were it not for my experience a few days later. After riding the bike home (no more than two miles), the next time I tried to ride it, my tire was completely flat. When I brought it into the shop, I was told I probably rode over a price of glass or something. While I admit that's a possibility, I was surprised that they didn't acknowledge that there may have been a problem when I bought the bike. I suggested that as a possibility, but got a rather dismissive response. I made it clear that I was dissatisfied, but the employee seemed more interested in ringing me up and getting me out the door than at least explaining why the problem couldn't have happened on the store's end, if indeed it was possible to know. To be fair, the fix wasn't all that expensive and it was done quickly. I will be back there again when my bike needs a tune up. But I won't be recommending the place as highly to others as I would have before this experience. read more

This place is outstanding! They're extremely knowledgeable and have excellent customer service. I've been in twice to get my bike fixed and each time they have not only fixed my bike in record time but also charged me very little. They also fixed other minor issues they discovered free of charge. The staff are extremely helpful and honest. I wouldn't go anywhere else in town. read more

The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. I have never been treated poorly for being a bike novice. They always explain things to me & help me find exactly what I need. And they never try to pressure me into getting repairs at their shop; they always just pull the parts I want. I also think their prices are really fair. They are definitely not the the priciest place in the area. I've been to all 3 bike shops in town, and this is definitely the one to go to! read more

Repeatedly have had bikes returned in dangerous condition, including bolts not tightened which caused parts to almost fall off.

I didn't do five stars because I'm not that enthusiastic about anything. But Bikesmiths is a great shop and I am a fan. They always know what they're talking about and doing, they know the town and area in terms of trails, and their prices are good too. read more
