He took his valuable time to not only prioritize us in our emergency, but explain the issue to us, and also spent a lot of time calling around for the needed part. Unfortunately, our particular issue could not be solved in time to meet our travel plans, but we were very pleased that Yelp sent us to Vance's shop! His truthfulness regarding our issue and integrity regarding charge and followup were excellent. Best customer service I have ever experienced in 40 years of cycling. Ken and Rhonda A.

He got me a quote within about 5-7 days of course the price for the repairs I couldn't beat! The knowledge and knowing he was going to fix it correctly the first time (and tune it some as it has never been tuned with over 500 miles on it) was something I was willing to pay and expert to do. And it's exactly what I needed. He was so kind and willing and helpful to answer questions I had but mainly we just talked as I am quite comfortable with bikes and motorcycles I just needed that confirmation that the frame was indeed sound and that the parts that needed to be replaced were down correctly. Vance reminds me of my brother very old school yet thorough with his work and doesn't nickel and dime you just cause. I paid a very fair price for his experience/time and his keen eye I feel safe back on my bike and have tuned up brakes to boot! I am not sure what the problem is in the 7 plus year ago comments probably had a bad apple working in their shop and it bled over into the reviews. But my take on him and his lovely wife is A++++ shop! Also- I think a lot of people are in such a hurry for their things to be done. I just sent it over and got out of his way- when I got a call I got a call. I never called or dogged him for an eta I let him do his work on his time. I think people get into that "when's my stuff done" mentality and that's when you get a tough time working with folks. I always approach things with catching more flies with honey! He's has one cool little shop and even a cool mini lift for his bikes which I thought was soooo cool! He's got it down to a science to make his job easier and I love that for them! Great job sir thanks again! -Terralyn Phillips Zenterra Massage

Our hotel front desk recommended Kristi Mountain Sports for sand sled and board rentals. It was so…read moreconvenient. They had a location close to the hotel and easy drop off right in our lobby (literally so easy). The staff at Kristi's was so friendly and our daughter especially loved Shadow (the sweetest black lab mix). You can't beat the ROI on the rental price to fun ratio. This allowed us to have one of the coolest experiences ever with our 3 year old daughter. I highly recommend renting a sled and trying it yourself and with your kids. She just rode with one of us. We personally had way more fun with the sled and would rent 2 sleds and skip the board if we were to do it again.

First off, the store is massive and has just about everything a Coloradan would ever need for outdoor festivities. The mission: rent a sandboard for Great Sand Dunes National Park. Consider the mission accomplished! I spoke with three different people over my two visits (one to rent, and the other to return) and they were just so damn friendly. Knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging for a first time sand boarder like myself. You can rent sand boards or sleds for $20 a day. Totally worth it, especially if you're staying in Alamosa. Other places offer rentals (many not near the park and many not open during winter). Kristi Mountains Sports earned their 5-star rating just by being good people. Thanks again for your help!!!

Then you had to text back 'only do this and that'. I did not like that green eggs and ham. Anyway went in asking that my headset be greased expecting the same as above. Mech put it on stand, greased it up reassembled and said anything else- said no what do I owe you? NO CHARGE. So I tipped him. Your results may vary but If you go and get similar treatment give em a big tip. Awesome!

Wish the Service Matched the Sales Experience…read more Update: I'm raising my rating because Criterium's management stepped up and owned the mistake. Ben (GM) personally inspected the bike, identified a missing cassette spacer, and installed it along with additional adjustments at no charge. He also acknowledged an incorrect $30 labor charge, issued store credit, and offered a card refund instead. The original experience after spending nearly $1,000 was disappointing, but I appreciate their explanation and willingness to make it right. How a business handles a mistake matters, and they deserve credit for taking responsibility. My praise for Joel in sales also stands. Original experience, before management's response: For nearly $1,000, I expected a fully tuned bike, not a new collection of sound effects. The bill included a roughly $200 replacement wheel. Expensive? Absolutely. But Criterium had earned my trust through previous work, so I expected to pick up a bike ready to ride. Instead, I got an extremely loose cassette, several gears I couldn't shift into, a strange clanking sound when bouncing the bike, and a chain rubbing against the chain guide. Apparently, some of the gears had become decorative. The bike was riding nicely before the service, but it wasn't rideable when we got it back. Finding that many obvious problems made me question the quality of the entire tune-up and whether all the additional repairs recommended were necessary. It left me with more questions than confidence. We had to make another trip to return it for corrections. I hadn't realized the full-service package would include extra driving and more time at the shop. Joel in sales was the bright spot throughout this experience. He's knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and the reason I bought a Specialized Stumpjumper a few weeks earlier. If the original service experience had matched the sales experience, this would have been a five-star review. Although the initial service fell short, I appreciate Ben taking responsibility and addressing the problems. That response deserves to be part of this review, too.
