Great local boutique. I visited on small business Saturday. They have unique gift items and were patient as I asked to see several items before making selections. I was meeting my friends and stopped to browse. I loved the items in this shop and luckily my friends showed up before I could do serious damage. They carry Brighton and a few other famous brands. I first visited Bijou's Boutique as a volunteer pouring wine for the recent College Park Wine and Art stroll. I had never heard of it let alone visited but I did spend four hours in there that evening and I was pretty impressed with what I saw. First of all,the customer service is outstanding. Bijou herself as well as her staff worked tirelessly at helping customers find the right clothing. One woman told me she has been a shopper there for the past twenty years and was on shopping spree that evening. As I poured wine, I spoke with so many who were very impressed by the store and pleased to discover it thanks to the wine tour or have already been coming for years and were happy to stop in again. The store is filled with electric clothing, jewelry, and shoes, accessories and some of it I would consider too pricey for me but other things were very reasonable. There were also many items on sale. Everything was unique. The clothing and shoes do lean toward women in their thirties and beyond (not middle aged as some other reviewer said, IMHO) and most of it "flowy" and cool fabric, clothing perfect for anyone living in Florida's heat and humidity but is also stylish and bohemian. After spending the evening surrounded by such interesting things I did end up buying myself a few things. How could I not? This is a fun and independently owned shop and I will be back. Bijou's is this beautiful store full of yummy goodies for the discerning shopper. If you are the type of gal that permeated sophistication and has a unique style. Bijou's will be your answer of epitome of sophistication. This is not the type of store that carries hoochie clothes or barely ass covered thank tops that passes for dresses these days. What you will find here are clothes you will be proud to wear at her majesty's invitation to the Derby garden party. This is not to say this is a stuffy store au contraire, you will find great jewelry from local and upcoming artist to the true and tried Brighton (my fav) unfortunately they don't carry Pandora brand but don't fret they do have others that will tickle your fancy. The staff is helpful and can be seem pushy, but my friend when you go to high end stores you are assigned your own personal shopper and stylist, to make your shopping a better experienced. So don't be put off by them trying to help you, rather think of it similar to having your own stylist a la (Jennifer Aniston never letting anyone forget she was married to Brad Pitt) lol. Not many businesses would venture to offer a delectable taste of the period and taste of their merchandise. Bijou's in college park has not just offered this taste of sophisticated life styles, but she has seemed to master it. The store is tastefully laid out with exquisite women's wear, adorned with products which ranges from jewelry and accessories to really beautiful one of a kind shoes and clothing. The store caters to the unusual and sophisticated taste, more along the lines of the well cultured palette. The space is designed with a flexible side room which is used to highlight products and services and a courtyard which beautifully lends itself to once a month jazz concerts with Jackie Jones and Mark McKee. The music of this fantastic duo is to say the least tantalizing. The sweet melodious voice of Jackie matched on instruments by Mark sets the tone for a step back in your fondest yesterday, as you float on the smooth silky sounds of warm heartfelt music. This is an experience that worth every second of my time. Beautiful clothing and a warm inviting welcome to your yesterday. Next time my mom comes to visit, I will surely be taking her by this store. It's mostly a clothing shop for women yet they sell adorable trinkets, jewelry, shoes and purses. They carry upscale clothing as well as medium priced frocks. Some of their very attractive shoes were priced around $80 and some were on sale for about $25. Most of the dresses and skirts were colorful and keepsake pieces--ones you would have for a long time without having to get rid of it due to new trends. Some pieces were more sparkly and flashy for Friday nights on the town. Their jewelry, creatively displayed, had me mesmerized for quite a bit of time. Overall, their collection was stylish and unique. Although most of the clothing was a bit older for me, I would have bought many of their jewelry pieces in a heartbeat. I most enjoyed their angels and gift item selection. Very cute and clever knick knacks for women. They also had a fair amount of holiday themed item such as Santa Clauses and Halloween decorations. By the name, Bijou's Boutique sounds like a hip, trendy little clothing shop for women and it is...but for older women. This little shop is filled with styles and fashion meant for women who are middle aged and older.I noticed that most of the clothes were in brown, black, white and dark red tones with a bit of color splashed in here and there. While there wasn't much that appealed to me in this shop, I did find a few things that I could see myself buying and wearing. First, their jewelry and accessories were very fun and could be worn with both casual everyday wear and fun, night-on-the-town kind of outfits. Second, their long jackets were so cute and so fun...but quite pricey. This is NOT a cheap store that's for sure. Most of the clothing items were between $50 and $200+ dollars, depending on what it is you're looking at of course. Most of the jewelry was between $30 and $60+. I was not impressed much with the purses...they definitely screamed old lady. The boutique attendants were all very nice and did their best to accommodate me as best they could, but I think they agreed that I was out of place. Everyone in there was at least 20 years older than me. Perhaps when I'm a bit older I'll frequent Bijou's Boutique, but for now I'll stick to the more modern, cheaper shops in town. read more

do Not shop at the one in St. Petersburg. My friend & I were in there last Sunday, the woman did nothing to assist or even us. Then started grumbling & giving me mad glares as my friend tried on a dress, & then started hitting something & using the phrase Motherf.....r over & over. My friend changed her mind on the purchase, I didn't get a chance to try anything on as we were so shocked & somewhat scared that we left . Then when we sent a email to the owner & as of today no one has replied. It is too bad because they had some nice things in there. read more

I purchased several outfits and the staff was incredibly helpful and made great suggestions. Had a great experience shopping. My favorite place to shop is Bijou's Boutique in College Park. A unique and one of a kind clothes shop, always on trend with the latest in fashion and fun. Bijou and her girls wait on you hand and foot...literally as they sell cute shoes as well! I was visiting a friend in St.Petersburg this summer and was shopping and came across Bijous and found a beautiful necklace that I wanted. I'm so happy I bought it for only $45 because every time I wear it I get so many compliments on it. Bijou's is a relaxing and fun shopping experience. The clothing & accessories cater to all ages and you know that you'll be purchasing a "one of a kind" outfit. The staff will help you--if you want it --but they don't hover over you while you are trying on clothes. There's always interaction among the customers, too, and that adds to the atmosphere. The shoppers are all ages--20 somethings to women 60+. There are adorable outfits to suit all tastes. I always receive compliments on the clothes I buy at Bijou's because they are different. Unlike another reviewer here, I have no problem with a boutique for older women. Being older doesn't mean you no longer care about fashion and Bijou's offers some stylish options for the shop's older clientele. The clothes are usually on the interesting if pricey side (though a bit too much like Chico's in my opinion) and they have a nice selection of earrings and other jewelry. It's the kind of place where you can spend quite a bit of time browsing as there is much to look at. Unfortunately, the salespeople are incredibly pushy and will not leave you alone. When I go shopping I don't want to feel constantly bothered to "check out" this or that. When I tell a salesclerk I just want to browse, I expect her to back off and let me. But that just doesn't happen at Bijou's. Because of this continuing annoyance, I no longer shop at this boutique. I wonder if they realize how many potential customers they drive away with their overly-aggressive sales tactics? Too bad. read more

I agree that it is a store designed primarily for middle-aged women, but seeing that I am middle-aged that's ok with me. They do, however, have a smaller selection that I think would appeal to younger ones. Their clothes are definitely not my issue with the store -- they have beautiful quality merchandise (although awfully pricey). My issue is with the very pushy sales staff, which others have mentioned as well. They are constantly breathing down my neck, bringing one item after another to my attention (and usually not my style), and when I'm in the dressing room trying items on they're never more than a few feet away constantly asking how things are going and pushing other items on me. I'm a women who knows what she likes so I don't need a lot of "help" when I'm shopping and if I do I'll ask. I was looking for a dress there the other day appropriate for a ballroom dance outing and narrowed it down to two (both $199). I mentioned that I needed to check out a few other options before comitting to one of the two dresses, but that I would likely be back. The sales woman immediately went from overly attentive to quite snarky. Her tone turned to very irritated and she commented to the effect of why do I need more choices, that I should be able to pick from the ones in their store. When I'm spending that kind of money, I think I owe it to myself to examine my options and look around a bit and get something I like but at the best value. I loved the dresses I chose at Bijou's, but not the price. I wanted to see if I could find something a little less expensive, and the sales clerk tried working a guilt trip on me; however, it backfired. Before the attitude, I had every intention of going back if I couldn't find a winner elsewhere. After the attitude, I decided no way was I going to drop $200 there. She lost out on a pretty good sale all because of an attitude of entitlement if you will -- how dare I look somewhere else! So I left the disgruntled sales person and went looking elsewhere. I actually found something I liked almost as much and for only $79, but by that time was very irritated with the whole experience and decided to go with something already in my own closet and save some money. I won't say that I'll never go back there (I like their merchandise), but it will likely be a while before I'm ready to spend my hard-earned money in their establishment. read more
