My daughter has been to Bijou for hair coloring and cuts. This time her haircut was done HORRIBLY!!! She showed Jen exactly what she wanted. Jen seemed to understand when she repeated and verified it. But it didn't come out that way at all because Jen decided to do what she wanted. She actually said, "I thought you would like this." What gives her the right to do this??? My daughter left there in Tears!!!! The guy at the register didn't care either. My daughter went somewhere else to have them fix her hair. I've been going to Bijou for quite awhile. I started because I had heard of Ouidad cuts for curly hair and Claudine was listed as a Ouidad specialist. In all my ???? years, I NEVER liked my haircuts. She is the BEST at cutting and styling my curly hair....MY curly hair not out of some book or class. She has always listened to me, she is so professional and friendly....a gem! Now that my hair is graying, it's been hard to manage. She answers my questions and helps me learn how to do it myself at home. When salons were allowed to open in NJ during the pandemic, they were meticulous about following the guidelines and protocols established by the state. I can't say enough good things about Bijou. I'm sure any stylist there is superb...most apprenticed with Claudine. read more

I got my hair cut. I usually go to Quidad in NY. I had it cut by Claudine. She is very nice and its a very inviting place. Only, as much as my hair needed shortening at the back for not being cut for a while the length is exactly the same all the way around which created a straight line wedge like a bob. It looks like a school girl cut. I was not asked about length and the sides are all too short now so I cant put it back. It looks like an unsophisticated bob like that does not compliment my curly hair. I think Ill be going back to NY until I find someone who practices the Quidad technique. I recently visited bijou salon for the first time and the incredibly talented colorists/stylists there are truly miracle workers! Not only was my hair a mess from 3 months of quarantine, but also from 9 months of neglect during pregnancy. We're talking grown out double process blonde, under grown out highlights and lowlights, with serious grown out/dark roots. I had the pleasure of having my color perfected by both Jen and Claudine, and they got me back to my perfect light blonde. The people working there were nice, but I got a bad haircut that took me about three years to fix (my hair is curly so it takes longer to gain length due to shrinkage) Edit: At the time that I posted this, I had just started an account on yelp. This was one of the things that came up in my recommended, and I immediately thought, "never again," and left a review. As a side note, someone could have a self proclaimed good reputation with something and still screw up. Chefs who have worked in a kitchen for years may still accidentally add too much salt in one dish. That doesn't make the customer crazy. read more

Ever since I walked into Bijou aka "The Bij" seven years ago I knew I was going to be taken care of - and I have been. Claudine colors, cuts, and styles my hair like no one else. She is truly an artist. She takes my full head of premature white hair and turn me into a "natural" redhead. Sometimes, we have fun and she'll add some extra pops of color. This may take me awhile, sorry. I recently moved here from outside of Atlantic city and had my hair colored a few times at another salon. All that happened was that it ended up getting darker and darker and had what I thought was about 3 different shades of blonde. Finally I had it and went in search of a new salon. After a lot of research and a big thank you to everyone for their reviews I went to Bijou. I am sooooooo happy I did!!!! Now going to a new salon you don't know anyone and you don't know who you are going to be working with. Shira did my color and a cut. My word, you could not ask for a nicer person to do your hair. Shira and her boss spent over twenty minutes alone figuring out what products to use to get my hair ash blonde (the color I was asking for at the other salon but never got). Not only was my hair not even close to ash blonde it had at least 5 or more shades of blonde, yellow , orange and my roots. I was there for awhile but it did not even feel like it. Everyone was so nice and the salon is very comfortable. This is one of my favorite cut and colors I ever had, and I have been coloring for a LONG time now. Shira did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier. I definitely recommend Bijou. They are a little pricey but my hair was a disaster and I can't believe what a difference a couple of hours and a great stylist can do. I had to update my review because of an experience with the owner at the salon who refused to take my $60 gift card stating that the card expired. After some research, I learned that Federal law prohibits the expiration of gift certificates. Companies can charge a surcharge, but have to take the certificates. I think if a business wants to expand their business, it is only good practice to accept an expired card. Sometimes in life, people just cannot use their cards for one reason or another. Not only was I out my $60 gift certificate but had to pay another $40 for a haircut. I give 4 stars only because of the great stylist, not the business itself. read more

The 2 stars I give this place are because of how sweet shira is! I went in before an event wanting a simple look that involved a shampoo, blowdry, using a curling iron and pinning the top section of my hair. I was charged a hefty sum of 100$ for this and the hair that was pinned up came apart in less than an hr. For 100$ I expect the pins to be in place all night(at the least). This place is too expensive for what you get. read more

No matter how many different people I've had cut my hair, no one can do it as well as Hannah at bijou! My brother also goes to Hannah and my mom goes to the owner Claudine who has been the one and only stylist to effectively tame her thick curls. Yeah the prices are higher then a lot of other places but you're paying for better products, better stylists with more experience who know what they're doing, and a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing salon which are all well worth it in my book. read more

I went last night as a first time customer. First of all, my hair came out great and I loved Laura- she really listened to the things I was saying. But what really impressed was the customer service here. When I got back to the station after having my hair washed, I realized one of my earrings had fallen out. They're pearls that my mom brought me back from Bora Bora, so literally irreplaceable. I was obviously upset but tried not to make a big deal. The entire time I was there people were looking for it- they checked the drains, picked all the chairs up, checked under stations- they really cared about finding it for me. When I left they said to call if I found it because they'd still be looking (luckily I found it as soon as I got in my car). I will always come back to this salon, because of the way they treated me last night. Thanks again!!! read more

I have been to many many hair salons and i can never find a keeper. As for this place i must say is my main salon. Alittle on the pricey end but its worth it because i know these stylist will get the job done right. when i walked in i totally fell in love with the appearance. So funky. And the hair stylist Hannah actually listened to me about what i wanted and gave me special advice and explained everything to me. All of the other salons I've been too they really couldn't give one damn about how my hair was cut but here I felt they actually care. WOO! read more

I have been to my fair share of high end salons living in the Princeton area, and this surpasses them all!! They have the high end prices, products, and expertise but without the attitude! They are welcoming and sweet!!!! My best friend got married and her gift to us for being in her wedding party, was having our hair & makeup professionally done on the day of the wedding! 6 girls in pjs showed up at 7am and were welcomed with coffee, danishes, bagels, mimosas, and warm welcomes!! I can not tell you how wonderful it was. From the moment we walked in the door, everyone was welcoming and pleasant and just as excited as we were!! I had the privilege of having the owner, Claudine, style my hair and apply my makeup! Not only was she sweet and talented, but we talked about all kinds of things. All of the other girls, said they same about their stylists! They were just as fun and fantastic! It was such a relaxing, fun time!! It was the perfect start to a perfect day! Bijou is amazing. I live 40 minutes away in the Cherry Hill area (which has about a million salons) but I am more than happy to take the drive to see Hannah. She takes a ton of pride in her work and it absolutely shows. I have highlighted blonde hair and she is the only stylist I've been to who genuinely cares about getting the color perfect. She doesn't just throw in some foils-She always mixes up the perfect glaze to get the tone just right, the highlights always go right up to the root, and she makes sure to cover that area at the back of the head that so often gets overlooked (if you have highlights, you know). I've been getting my hair highlighted for 15 years and have even gone to a few of the pretentious bougie salons hoping for next level - and Hannah is the only one who has ever brought it. Best colorist out there. AND she cut my hair today - went from super long to a "lob" and absolutely killed it. Side note: the hair washing stations have amazing chairs with neck support-so comfy and a serious game changer. Huge bonus points for that. And everyone in the salon is super nice and personable, both to the clients and to each other- none of that catty BS you sometimes see at other salons. Can't recommend Bijou enough. read more

Overpriced! Did NOT get what I asked for in the color department - very boring. Stylist took it upon herself to add services without consultation to jack the price up - Not at ll happy with the result of the color or they stylist. If you pay $220.00 for a color job ---- the least they could do is give you a blow out so you can see if the color is correct instead they charge an extra fee!!! Ridiculous!!!!! I recently visited this salon for an eyebrow waxing and i must say i was immediately impressed. The atmosphere of the salon is calm and friendly. Even though the stylists, including the owner, were busy with clients, every one of them were kind enough to say hello with a smile and made me feel very welcome. There was absolutely no rudeness here! The waxing is done in a separate room of the salon and offers excellent privacy and comfort. Everything was immaculate! Not a single drop of wax anywhere and not even a single strip of paper was out of place. There is also a large, CLEAN mirror to proper view any services done. The chair had a fresh sheet for every client and reclines with much comfort. This salon is top notch and very client concious. I am often VERY particular about places when I am going in for any waxing service, but this salon exceeded my expectations by far! Would recommend to any and all! read more
