I strongly caution anyone considering this company: unless you own a million-dollar property in…read moreKamloops, you may be treated as an inconvenience -- and billed regardless. There are surely more respectful, service-oriented movers in the region who would be happy to help seniors and their families without judgment or hidden fees. As a resident of Ontario, I contacted this Kamloops-based moving company to assist with moving a large selection of tools from my late mother's townhome. I was very clear during the phone call with the owner that this involved basement items -- specifically tools -- the equivalent of a garage move. I even supplied my own storage container and only needed assistance walking the items down the driveway into it. When the movers arrived, they took one look and immediately refused the job. They stated they "typically deal with million-dollar homes" and that my mother's modest residence was "not something they normally do." Their tone was condescending, and it was made clear they viewed the job as beneath them. Minimal work was completed, (they moved a sofa and a few household items). They did not bring boxes or packing material. I was later issued an invoice for nearly $1,000 -- for a four-hour minimum charge that was never disclosed during my booking. Despite advertising themselves as a friendly, full-service moving company, their attitude toward assisting with a modest, senior citizen's home was dismissive and degrading. The owner again reiterated that their services were geared toward upscale homes and clients. I was shocked, particularly as someone arranging services from out of province, to encounter such a lack of professionalism and transparency. I was in Ontario during the 'move' and family members who travelled to Kamloops had to deal with the condescension and contempt of the owner and staff. Thankfully, neighbours overheard the conversations and offered to help us do the packing/moving into the storage bin I rented.

Moving is extremely stressful! There have been so many horror stories in the media recently…read moreregarding people being over charged, having their property damaged and even having their belongings held hostage or stolen. It's a challenge to find a moving company that you can feel confident about. Knowing you and your belongings will be treated with care and respect. I have moved many times over the last several years and have had mostly bad luck with movers until now. Pioneer Moving & Storage were kind, helpful and very professional right from the start. During our move from the Kamloops area to Lake Country, they were extremely careful, very efficient and their positive/happy personalities got us through an exhausting and stressful day. I can't say enough great things about these guys! Next time we move, I won't hesitate to call them again!

One never replied, the other replied after 5 days. We found You Pack We Haul. One phone call and some texting was all it took. Timmy Johnston, the owner, was professional and very clear about the terms. The price was based on the amount of time required to move. He came and looked at the apartment, and we scheduled a move date, three days out. (the one moving company who did reply couldn't do it for 2 weeks) Timmy gave us an estimate, and the final cost was less than the estimate. Timmy kept in touch by text, confirming the move date/time, reminding us a day ahead of time, and also let us know that he might be early, depending on the prior move. His crew moved everything quickly and carefully. My daughter said "give him 5 stars!". Fair price, great communication, on time, careful, and professional. I would not hesitate to use You Pack We Haul again. His business card says "moving/storage, residential/commercial,freight & cargo, in and out of town" The e-mail address is: youpackwehaul@gmail.com

First, no ability to do what they said they would do. Times were never firm, even when I texted to be sure, right before coming to the storage, as requested. Got there and he asked me to wait 20 minutes because boss called a meeting suddenly. Just no. I already arranged the time in the way you wanted, Jas. Pretty much every time it was like this - incomplete/wrong information. Even the first time it was like that. "Come to our location and I'll let you in." No sign, didn't tell me I had to go to the back. I end up wandering around and asking the people in the other stores nearby. Just constant time-wasting. The first group of guys that moved my stuff out were pretty good except they were extremely late and didn't bother to notify me for iirc a couple hours. One of them spoke decent English, which helped. When my stuff was later moved, there were only two guys, neither of whom were adequate in English. One of them carried my lamp with a heavy base at an angle and destroyed it. Jas claimed the bolt on the bottom just needed tightening. Wrong. It's garbage now. He offered some other weird lamp as an option, but I need my tall standing lamp that takes no space, not a big boxy thing at desk height, so I didn't take up that offer. Finally, I was paying storage monthly. That was the contract. Then, at the end of the period, suddenly I'm charged 750. This really sucked as I had just bought a condo and money was tight. As usual, he didn't do what he said he'd do, ie charge monthly, and screwed me over that way at the last minute. I moved out on the 7th of the month and he wouldn't even give me a partial discount for that month to make up for the nonsense of the last-minute withdrawal. Not intentionally corrupt, just incapable of organizing time, doing what he said he'd do, or hiring people with adequate English. I thought it was going to be okay, till it all got screwed up in the last week. We had set a moving time, as required by my condo that has to plan around it, and then at the very last minute, same day or night before he wanted to change it to next day. Save yourself the hassle and pick another mover!! Edit: You can see in the pics, the flange was damaged and is now completely broken because I moved it to try and fix it. When I lifted it vertically, the base was wobbling/rocking because it had been damaged by the mover. Never wobbled before.
