Now that I have my required Yelp Employee spiel out of the way ;), let me tell you about this stellar memorial Glenview has erected to honor the military men who were served at the Glenview Naval Air Station. For many years, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guard were stationed at the Naval Air Base. This particular memorial honors those who served in World War II and the Korean War, so specifically those who served or supported the Glenview Naval Air Base from 1937 to 1955. It's beautiful and has somehow stayed in quite good condition since installation in 2003. For me personally, I feel connected to this area. I really hope they keep up the condition and care so I can keep visiting every time I'm in town. Both of my Grandpas who served & were stationed here have special bricks. As do all who chose to be a part of this monument. There is also a super cool pilot statue bringing the whole place together. It's great that they have benches everywhere so you can sit and ponder life, catch up over a coffee (there's a Starbucks there)

Parking was easy and that was a nice little gift shop available to pick up some very reasonably priced souvenirs. At the venue, Genesis was the event coordinator for the evening. She made sure everything flowed seamlessly and helped me enjoy the outing stress free! Both our game dealers (John and Ivan) were very knowledgeable and fun! They helped teach many of us how to play roulette and blackjack and were patient with us throughout the games! It's been forever since we were able to attend a LYC event and this one at Mrs. Green's was super fun. The setting was a sleek and bright grocery that showcases organic and local products. It was a fun and educational event and our hosts did a great job engaging the kids and making it very enjoyable. They learned about how to make yogurt, also helping our hostess make a batch, and then completed a scavenger hunt. Snacks and yogurt parfaits for everyone which just made the afternoon sweeter. One item on the scavenger hunt was to find a fruit and veggie that they have never tried before...for my son, it was radishes (sorry, we just don't eat them in this house) and how fun that our swag included said item for free! Gotta check Pinterest now for some ideas on how to serve them! As always, CM Angela was very welcoming to the parents and kids... and Yelp crayons and a coloring sheet? Love it! and Love LYC! It was a very nice place with simple decor, had great ambiance for families, a lot of outdoor seating that we could return for with better weather, and a little firepit going on the patio to greet you as you walked up to the front door. One of their hallmarks is handmade pasta and pizza ... and for dinner one in our party had the Il Mino pizza (4 stars, which was very nice with little pieces of Calabrian chili in it to give it some oomph and a generous helping of sausage); another had the White Truffle Pasta (5 star stuff, with shaved white truffles on top of very nice pasta); and the last had the Tortelloni (4 star stuff that was delightful, but just a bit al dente). I was leaning toward a 4 star rating for the whole experience here, but had to round it up to 5 stars because of the Burrata appetizer ... creamy cheese and nice prosciutto. Other stuff: as a family place, you should expect that there will probably be kids running back and forth, something which is not the establishment's fault ... but can be distracting at times; the full-service bar served up nicely curated drinks, but suffered a bit from small pours; service (Andrew) was exceptional, as he appeared every time we were just about in need; easy 90 minute street parking was available; the men's bathroom could have used a bit of attending; and they don't offer bread for the table: probably because some bread appears with appetizers like the crostini that came with the Burrata, and they probably want you to get a pizza rather than fill up on plain bread. While they have gone the way of most restaurant in adding a 3% surcharge for using a credit card ... all in all this was a very nice dinner ... we will be back.

The ambiance of the restaurant is also a big upgrade after the renovation with a lively atmosphere. Since this is mostly a carryout restaurant, they have a few tables indoor and some tables for dining outside. It isn't that loud indoor because there isn't much room for anyone to gather.
