Product is ok, but almost any other maple syrup is better. Customer service is terrible. Avoid at all costs

Big Tree Maple is a family-run business that makes some darn good maple syrup. I recommend going to their self-serve shop (open all the time) to stock up -- it's a better deal than syrup at the grocery store, and it's as local as it gets! They also have all sorts of tempting products in there that make great gifts. Oh, did I mention Lloyd made custom maple syrup favors for my wedding? I got to visit Big Tree Maple for the first time during NYS Maple Weekend 2017. I always wanted to go and finally got my chance. The smells were AMAZING as I first opened the door. The room you walk into is pretty small but they use the space well. I got to sample some fresh syrup and buy some maple flavored treats to go. My only complaint was that the "tour" wasn't very structured. I had to pull a lot of information out of the owners but they were super polite and informative. I highly recommend the syrup (obviously) and the maple popcorn believe it or not! read more

We drove to Jamestown, NY on a road trip to visit family and friends and I always heard about the fresh maple syrup in the region due to the abundance of maple trees. Being a big fan of Belgium waffles and pancakes, I had to get a hold of fresh maple syrup. I researched and found a company by the name of Big Tree Maple. What a pleasant surprise! A beautiful drive led us a to the home of David Munsee. As we approached the driveway, we noticed corn for sale (picked that day on his son's farm) and a little store where you purchase his products on an honor system. That's right folks, honor system (so please make sure to obey this correctly). Walking into his little store, there were many different maple products on display - but I was there on a mission: Homemade maple syrup!. After trying to figure out which grade of maple syrup to purchase, David walked in and explained the process of extracting 40 gallons of sap from a maple tree to be boiled down to 1 gallon of maple syrup! I was sold! He bottles the syrup in cute white jugs and his products are available online as well. The product is heavenly and if you are a fan of maple syrup - this is definitely worth the trip!!!
