The BEST is the Webster Film Series. Incredibly thoughtful mix of new international and independent films and retrospective programming. In addition to the screenings themselves, occasionally they partner with other groups for a series and bring in speakers. I always look forward to whatever they will have next. On a practical note, there is a half circle of parking spaces right in front of the hall, and I've never had trouble finding a spot. Screenings always start at 7 or 7:30, so I recommend Cyranos (who have a decent Happy Hour) right up the street first for a quick bite / drink if you wanna make an evening of it. Can't wait for my next viewing experience here!

It started as a Webster University student club for non-mainstream and artistic films. Today, it brings us important works from around the world, and often brings filmmakers for a Q & A session. Anyone who is interested in cinema truly needs to catch the Series! Usually the showings are at Winifred Moore Auditorium [ called the Winnie on campus ], but are sometimes held elsewhere. Make sure you check the schedule to see where the showing will be held!

A TON of wineries participated in the event, which was neat. I'm not a huge wine person. I couldn't tell you the difference between pinot grigio and chardonnay. I don't know how to pair wines with particular foods. All I know is that I like sweet wines! Every vendor that I spoke with had representatives working who seemed to be very knowledgeable about wines, which was a plus. I tried lots of tasty wines! The entry fee isn't too bad; $25 a person, which gives you 10 tickets for 10 tastings of wine (additional tickets can be purchased for $5 per 10). This year they also had a Stella Artois beer seminar (free!) which was very interesting and informative. I have so much more respect now for (good) beer! If you're not into wine, they also had booths with food from various local restaurants, as well as live music. Super cool event! Can't wait to attend again next year!

It can be used for a music venue (my daughters have had recitals here) as well as great cocktail parties (I have so far hosted a jewelry party, reunion event, and a number of other cocktail parties here). The owners are amazingly helpful (a family) and flexible. The sound system, chairs and tables, and even linens are in great shape, and there is even a kitchenette towards the back. There is an outside area that can often be used that also enhances the space. Easy parking - a gem in the Webster Groves area!

You can comfortably seat 24 with space to mingle indoors and 24 (six tables of 4) outdoors. The garden patio is lovely and it was nice that it was covered and offered ceiling fans to keep the humid August air moving. I was disappointed in the lack of communication from Neil. I sent emails, but he never responded. I called a week later and someone told me he was out of town. He should get an auto-response for his emails if he plans on leaving town. He also said he would have the space set up (tables and chairs arranged) the night before my event, but when I arrived that day he was still in the process of setting up. That took time away from decorating the room and setting up the food buffet. Be aware the table linens they offer are the size of table toppers and only hang down about 3 inches, so plan on ordering your own table clothes. Overall the space is nice and the price is reasonable, but the coordinator is not very organized.

We were reassured that someone will absolutely be there. Fast forward to this morning at 3 am when we wake up to a text from them asking if 330 am would work instead. We responded saying yes anytime between 330-345am would work. 345 am rolls around and no sign of the car. Check email to find a cancellation email sent by them at 3:15am. Repertory Theatre of St Louis - The set for Emma at the Repertory Theater of St. Louis

It's near Webster University in the suburbs, a more convenient area than St. Louis City where other theater venues are located. Second, if patrons go to a matinee, there is plenty of free parking. I went on to the 2 p.m., Sunday afternoon showing of "Emma." There are ways to get discounted tickets at the last minute. I recommend visiting their website for more details on how to do this. I bought a flash sale offering which included three shows, "Emma," being the first one. The show itself was 2 1/2 hours with a 15-minute intermission. I recommend getting everything you need before you go into the theater. 15 minutes doesn't give patrons enough time to get in and out of the restroom or get a drink because of the lines. Speaking of drinks, there were three specialty offerings. Each one had a theme relating to, "Emma." My personal favorite was the Emma Expresso Martini. Almost every seat gives you an excellent view of the stage. If you are not familiar with the layout, show the ushers your ticket and they are happy to direct you to your seat. There were not many open seats. It depends on the production if it's going to be a sellout or not. Evidently, there were a lot of people who are fans of Jane Austen that were in attendance. The costumes and stage sets were top-notch. The scene from the berry-picking party and its aftermath was absolutely hilarious. I loved how the actors interacted directly with the audience as if we were co-conspirators in the events as they were unfolding. There are deviations from Austen's novel; however, I feel this production faithfully follows the spirit of "Emma." In addition to the play itself, the Rep's Christmas decorations were festive and welcoming. If you are in the St. Louis area and love the theater, I highly recommend putting the Repertory Theater of St. Louis on your to-do list.
