The communication from this company is second to none. Not only were they clear about the booking process, they offered a page worth of recommendations when I asked about what to do in Big Sky other than snowboarding. Our shuttle driver sent me a text message as soon as we landed giving clear direction on where he was parked and offered to help us with our bags. What a great experience!!! Our driver, Jenna, was not only prompt, but also bent over backwards to fill our private car ride from Bozeman Airport to Big Sky resort with interesting local history. She was patient with our questions and was eager and willing to answer them all. Jenna also pointed out wildlife along the way and prepared us for sightings of moose and bighorn sheep. We booked a 3:30 reservation from the airport to Big Sky. At 3:40 the bus had not shown up and 25 people were standing around with no information. The only BSS representative around refused to tell us anything. He said we should ask another passenger because he's already said the bus was delayed 4 times. No reason was given. The bus finally shows at 4:00. We load the bus. Then sit for 30 minutes while they began accepting people for later reservations. Our bus driver disappeared for 15 minutes. When I called to ask for information. The lady snarked that I should complain to the Montana Dept of Transportation then hung up on me. We finally pulled out of the airport at 4:30. A full hour after our reservation time. Not even an apology. read more

I was nervous booking based on some of the low Yelp ratings but I'm happy to say I had a great experience. The shuttle pickup from the airport was on time and the shuttle pickup from the hotel was about 5 minutes past the time quoted which was reasonable. The driver was friendly and helpful with loading/unloading the luggage. I had no issues and would book them again on a future trip. read more

Every tourist visiting Big Sky faces the same decision when planning their trip: "rent a car, or trust an airport shuttle?" WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND RENTING A CAR INSTEAD OF TRUSTING BIG SKY SHUTTLE. BIG SKY SHUTTLE CAN and WILL SCAM YOU. Details below: I have travelled to Big Sky for the past 3 years with friends, traveling across the country to do so. I took Big Sky Shuttle from the airport to the mountain a few years ago and had an ok experience, so recommended it to a friend who needed to arrange for an early flight out of Big Sky in order to attend a work obligation as she is a physician. My friend booked days in advance with Big Sky Shuttle for a 3am shuttle in order to make an early flight. She made the decision NOT to rent a car to have her own transportation specifically because she could pre-reserve and pre-pay the $56 for the Big Sky Shuttle to the airport at this time. Shortly after my friend had made the effort to travel to Big Sky Ski Resort (she had gotten a ride from friends from the airport out to the mountain) - she received an email at 3:00am from Big Sky Shuttle that her $56 ride to the airport had been cancelled because there were not at least 5 passengers pre-booked, and that instead, she could book a PRIVATE Big Sky Shuttle option for over $200. -- WHAT A SCAM! We called several times to discuss with the owner, Tracy, who was very defensive and hostile in discussion of this business practice. She texted my friend "I'm sorry you are so mad. I can't run a shuttle to the airport with one passenger for $56." --- Well, in that case BIG SKY SHUTTLE SHOULD NOT ADVERTISE THIS AS A SERVICE BECAUSE TRAVELERS make plans around them and it is DISHONEST to offer it, allow people, and then cancel the shuttle simply to protect their own profit margins over their customers. This business practice takes all of the RISK and puts it on the customer, and Big Sky Shuttle takes NONE of the risk. As a travel service, particularly to an AIRPORT, it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to offer dependable service if they advertise it. Consider their business model: sometimes there may be 10 passengers on the 3am shuttle, and they will make way more than enough to cover the gas, sometimes there may be 1 passenger on the 3am shuttle, and they will profit less, but it is THEIR responsibility to offer a reliable shuttle, or passengers won't trust them and will stop booking (this statement does NOT include inclement weather, which is another case involving safety -- I am specifically talking about canceling shuttles to protect the company's own profit margins). I know that is the case for myself, all my ski buddies, and everyone I talk about traveling to big sky with in the future. Don't let yourself get SCAMMED or stranded out at the Ski Resort, DO NOT TRUST BIG SKY SHUTTLE, a company more interested in their profit margins than in their passengers' well-being. read more

My travel experience with these folks was terrible not because of the things that were out of their control but only because of the things IN their control. I was travelling from Big Sky to the airport with my 2 children late one February afternoon recently, where I was to take another shuttle to my airport hotel. We arrived at the outdoor (duh!) bus stop 20 minutes early in the event the driver arrived early so as not to inconvenience anyone. 10 minutes after the appointed pick-up time, I get a call from the driver telling me of mechanical issues and that he would 20--30 minutes late and asking me when my flight was. I told him my flight was for the next day and that I understood that these things happened. He mentioned that if I had a flight that night THERE WAS ANOTHER BUS THAT COULD HAVE PICKED US UP but it was not available to us because we didn't. He said he thought he could fix it or, if necessary, tear the offending part off the van and proceed. (It was the plastic piece covering the oil pan). 25 minutes goes by and I get another call telling me he's going to be even later and he's going to go to a hotel to get a tool to fix the part. Long story shortish, he shows up an hour 20 minutes late and we've been at the stop an hour 40 minutes. He's profusely apologetic and we have an hour 10 minute trip --we're late, we're tired and we're hungry. When he arrives, we ask him if, AFTER he drops the others off, he could drop us off at our hotel which is 12 minutes away. We think this is brainless because we have been seriously inconvenienced and we're asking him for a minor inconvenience. HE TURNS US DOWN. WHY? --because the insurance doesn't cover a side trip?--NO --because he has another pick-up to make?--NO --family reasons?--NO he turns us down because it's OUT OF HIS WAY (!) and inconvenient for him and then he dumps us at the airport shuttle stop in the dark to wait for another shuttle. After the fact the owner of the service says that we could have had the alternate bus if we wanted it and was silent about whether the driver should have given us the courtesy of driving us to our destination. Tracie and her team were fantastic. While I had made the mistake of booking for the wrong date, then missed my flight due to weather, Tracie was able to get a car to pick up my brother and myself in the dead of night. She even credited the original outbound reservation towards the new one. When we had to change plans suddenly due to an injury, her team was there to help. Again, we received a credit from the original reservation towards the new one. Her drivers are cheerful and careful, as well as available at all sorts of ungodly hours of the day/night. I rode with Big Sky Shuttle yesterday on a private ride from Big Sky, Montana to Teton Village in Jackson Hole and had a first rate experience. This 182 mile drive is beautiful as it goes in and around Yellowstone National Park but also a difficult drive in the winter, therefore I chose Big Sky Shuttle to drive me. My Driver, Virgil Bates, was professional, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about the area (he also drives for group tours). Most importantly Virgil delivered me to my destination safe and sound. (Virgil was a lot of fun to be with during the 4 1/2 hour trip too!) The vehicle, a Denali, was a new model, luxurious, comfortable and perfectly maintained ( you don't want to be breaking down over a mountain pass). The pricing was very fair. I plan on booking again with Big Sky Shuttle when I return to Bozeman next winter. read more

Short version: these guys are scumbags. Stay away. They're somewhat up-front about their bad business practices in the fine print of their terms, but when you're stranded without a ride, the fine print isn't all that soothing! Long version: when you book, you're committed - they charge your credit card in advance. Ok, that's not unusual. But 48 hours before your ride time, if they don't have enough riders signed up to make them a sufficient (large) profit, they cancel you. At that point, you're left scrambling for a ride when all other services are booked. Gallantly, they then offer to show up if you pay them another $150 for "private shuttle upgrade". As the final outrage, they fight you on refunding your credit card for the ride they didn't provide. Amazing. read more

What a professional group! From the ease of reservations, to the pickup at the airport in Bozeman, to the store stop we needed to make to the drop off at our destination. Bruce, our driver was courteous, professional and informative. The drive was great in that we were in a Denali (it's worth the price seeing what other services are driving for not much less) and it was comfortable, clean and felt safe! We will look to them again for a tour to Yellowstone with their sister company when we come back. read more

This company is the most unprofessional one I have ever used. Big Sky Shuttle cancelled my airport shuttle trip 48-hours before my travel day via email because it said it did not have the minimum 5 passengers. The email gave me the option to call them and upgrade to a private ride; however, I chose to secure another form of transportation to the airport. I wasn't happy about it, but I knew that was a potential with their policy. Yesterday morning while I am waiting for the ride I secured, I receive a call from the Big Sky Shuttle driver that he had arrived to get us. I told him that they had cancelled my ride 2 days before. He was surprised because no one told him. When I returned home last night, I checked my credit card and saw the company charged me for the ride when I booked it; however, they did not issue me a refund when they sent me the cancellation. I gave them a call this morning to discuss and have them credit my account. The woman I spoke with, Danielle, was very unprofessional. She claimed she called me several times and left me a message that they had another shuttle available. I never received a message, nor did my cell phone show any missed calls. (Rest assured, screen shots of my phone have been taken.) Regardless, I reiterated that when I received the company email that my ride was cancelled, I made other arrangements. Since I did not contact them to arrange another shuttle, they had no authorization to book me another ride. At this point, Danielle continued to blame me for not returning her call and indicated that they booked me a ride and they had a cancellation policy which I was now outside of. She said she didn't charge my card, her boss did. The owner Tracy called me once I insisted to Danielle that I speak with the owner/supervisor. While I appreciate her returning the call, she still did not grasp the simple concept that her company cancelled me, I made other plans, and yet I was now at fault for not returning a call I never received and it was ok for them to re-book another shuttle for me without my consent. Too bad I didn't read the reviews before I booked. In the past I always used Karst Stage and never had an problems. Tracie is nasty with a bad attitude. Horrible customer service. She had no problem bad mouthing Karst. Gee, then why are they always full??? My flight arrived early into the Bozeman airport. Tried to find a representative they were nowhere to be found. Then I started calling, 3 calls, 45 min later someone finally called me back. Although the shuttle I reserved wasn't until 2 PM by now I thought no one was going to show up. Booked with another shuttle when I finally heard back. There was no refund on the trip on to Big Sky. She told me I was lucky she wasn't double billing me for the ride to the airport since I was only one on the 3 AM shuttle. I can understand why their vans r never full. Buyer Beware... better read the fine print before u pay... they r not responsible for anything... the customer is responsible for everything. Tracie needs to learn the meaning of customer service. Regardless whether she was willing to give me a refund it was her piss poor, defensive attitude on the phone. I will never do business with this company again. Back to Karst Stage. read more
