We arrived about 7:30pm on a Friday evening. Parking was easy in a nearby lot and we could hear what sounded like live music as we walked toward the building. Sure enough, lucky for us, a live duo was playing on a small stage in front of the outdoor seating. "Sweet Talkin' Johnny" began singing songs from Tom Petty and we knew we wanted to sit and listen for a while. The interior is decorated with fun pictures throughout, which we loved. The portrait of Kramer from Seinfeld was perfect. My wife also reported the women's room has the famous picture of a naked Burt Reynolds from the Cosmopolitan magazine circa 1972. The men's room has the vintage classic poster of Farrah Fawcett and artwork of a dude on a toilet. We did not ask much about their variety of beers after finding the "Big Ass Umbrella" IPA, but we believe they have 16 taps, which, we think include both a variety of their own beers as well as other hard beverages such as seltzers and ciders. They also have a cooler full of assorted 4/6 packs which can be purchased. Tonight we were fortunate enough they had a food truck/trailer serving Nashville Hot Chicken in addition to the live music. Overall, an awesome experience!

We decided on the their appetizer sampler just to get a feel for their food, and it wasn't a great feel. The wings were burnt, Maybe that's their "style" but it didn't work. They were so dry. The shrooms had too much breading and were also overcooked, thought at least not burnt. The mozzarella sticks were actually decent. The pretzels was good, but some awful beer cheese. I had two of their IPA's and I did enjoy those. Unfortunately not someplace I'd go back to unless someone assured me it was better

Indeed, if the cold North runs through you veins, you'll find house beer and mead aplenty to wet your whistle in an atmosphere that while housed in a modern shopping center, is still somehow appropos. Unfortunately, I had driving to do, so alcohol wasn't in the cards, but the menu appealed to us. We needed some comfort food, so we ended up with an appetizer sampler that included a baked pretzel, jalapeno poppers (instead of the fried ravioli that I guess they were out of), buffalo wings, and mozz sticks. We also got a pizza from the current specials, the spicy hawaiin. We like pineapple on pizza, and definitely prefer pepperoni to ham, and this also included jalapenos... so it sounded right up our alley. FYI, there are no waiters, you simply order at the bar, and they give you a numbered buzzer to pick up your food when ready. I greatly prefer this way of doing things honestly. For the food, honestly... a mixed bag, hence the one star off. The pretzel was great, probably the best of the bunch. Jalapeno poppers were nice and large, good flavor balance of cream cheese and jalapeno. Mozz sticks were mozz sticks. We didn't care for the wings. For one, they weren't tossed in the buffalo sauce, it was just poured over the top, and they also were a tad dry... maybe fried too long. The pizza was a letdown, especially since other reviews were so complimentary of it. The slices were very floppy, it maybe could have used a couple minutes more. The cheese had a nice flavor, but the sauce was not either of our preference. Could have used more pineapple, less jalapeno to balance the bites. Overall, we didn't finish it, and didn't take the leftovers for later. It could just be our personal tastes, so go and decide for yourself. Outside of food, it was trivia night, and people were having a great time. We would have taken part if we were staying longer. I think if I lived in the area, I would still come here, and just figure out what food items are the ones to get and which ones aren't. Great atmosphere, friendly bartender and people.

That's right, we booked Sugar Hill Gang in 2002. What can I say? We had a limited budget. Flash forward 15-years to a much older but not much less clueless me on the hunt for a DJ for our wedding. I immediately remembered how easy it was to work with Vinny and reached out with that awkward "Heyyyyyy, I don't know if you remember me, but..." email. I'm happy to report he remembered me and was as happy to reconnect as I was. During our consultation, we reminisced about the good old times (musicians are full of shenanigans, y'all) and marveled at how much Split Second Sound has grown. Theirs is a story of hard work and determination paying off! When I first worked with Vinny in 2002, he was operating SSS out of his garage. Today, he has a beautiful office space in South Charlotte and a full team of employees. Anyways, I'm rambling. We obviously booked SSS for our wedding DJ needs and were so impressed from beginning to end. All the little details make SSS the best in the business. From the personalized chalk board sign welcoming us for our first consultation to their interactive website where you can provide details for run of show, must-play songs along with don't-you-dare-play songs, everything was a pleasure with them. We loved our DJ Anthony and his assistant Danielle. They were fun and interactive and probably most importantly kept us on track all night long!
