Went in for a nose piercing. The piercing itself was a good experience, although I said I wanted a silver stud and the piercer just chose the size of bead himself. It was a larger bead than I wanted and he said, "This is the size most people choose." I decided to just let it go. He said I could return in a month to switch out the nose ring so I figured it was no big deal. When I returned a month later is when the real issues started. It says on their website you can bring in your own jewelry and they will sanitize it and put it in for you. So I purchased and brought in my own nose jewelry, and the employee refused to put it in saying that he would not put in a 20 gauge only an 18 gauge and pressured me to buy a new stud from them for $$$. I declined and said I would come back with an 18g. I came back two days later with exactly what he said he WOULD put in for me, an 18 gauge and he still refused, saying I had to buy from their ridiculously over-priced selection of studs because otherwise he "didn't feel right about the quality". I showed my receipt where it said my stud was made of surgical grade stainless steel. And he said he couldn't trust the quality. He took out my month-old piercing and then would not put in a new stud unless I bought it from them. This is the point where I realized they didn't care about what their website says or what I wanted, they only care about upselling their own in-house jewelry. I went to another piercing studio in Lincoln (with much better ratings) and they were so honest and professional that I tipped the piercer as much as buying the overpriced jewelry from Onyx would have cost me. After being jerked around by Onyx three times over I was willing to pay $$$ to avoid the used-car sales tactics that Onyx uses. When I checked the ratings today, before posting this review, I noticed other customers complaining about exactly the same thing. High pressure up-selling if their in-house jewelry and refusal to put anything else in. read more

If I could give 0 stars I really would. Very unprofessional and rude workers. Not to mention RACIST. I has called and scheduled an appointment to change my nose piercing. When I arrived I was greeted by a women who told me her male coworker will be helping me. I chose the ring I wanted and told him to just give me a second so I can unlock my card and pay. He went to the back and started talking to his coworker. Next I hear him blurting some racial slurs. And I was the only person of color in the shop. Liz did my tattoo, it was a very clean shop and everyone was very professional and kind. I came in to get a price estimate and ended up getting my tattoo same day. This was my first tattoo and I was very happy with how responsive Liz was to requests--I asked to see my tattoo before she shaded it because I thought i might like to keep it unshaded and it looked amazing but I did end up shading it anyway. The music was good and I brought a friend to keep me company--she gave him a chair so he could sit in front of me and talk to me. They gave me an informative care sheet and business card with basic care instructions to take home. I think the tattoo process went a lot quicker than I expected and it was much less painful than I thought it would be. I highly recommend Big O Tattoo, especially for first-timers like me. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff made my experience memorable and stress free. Updating in March and my tattoo still looks amazing and I've tanned a bit since then--I apply sun screen stick to just the tattoo and it hasn't faded or bled bigger as far as I can tell. I've been here for 4 separate piercings, and had incredibly pleasant experiences each time! I have been pierced by both Matt and Mark, and they are amazing at what they do. They are informative about the piercing process, and willing to answer any questions you may have. Matt and Mark are members of the APP (Association of Professional Piercers) and are the ONLY piercers in Lincoln that are part of the association. This studio is probably the most sanitary body mod shop I've ever been in. They also have a stellar selection of jewelry! It's not cheap, but it is some of the highest quality jewelry you can buy, and worth every penny. I've never had any issues with my piercings from this place, and it's the only place I will ever go to get pierced. read more

I booked this place because they had an appointment available for a piercing. I now regret that decision. The front desk lady seemed very annoyed that I arrived, didn't even receive a hello from her. Piercer pierced my ears entirely too close to my existing hole, which I know is partially my fault because they ask if it looks okay. I trusted my piercer because she literally measured. When I called about having them pierce (making it clear I knew this wasn't the piercers fault) after my holes healed, nobody was helpful. I would not recommend this place. read more

I took my 14 year old daughter here for a septum piercing. They were very nice, welcoming, extremely professional, and thorough. They were very sanitary, wore masks, and required customers to wear masks as well. They needed her birth certificate and both of our government issued i.d. cards, plus fingerprints and signatures from both of us. First time for a tattoo as working on my bucket list , looked at some reviews and went with Lizz to do the job . Made my way to the shop and talked to staff as I browsed through their display of tattoos as I had an idea of what I wanted but was still open if something caught my eye. Find a angry looking sun which I liked for the back shoulder blade...and after looking at it several times knew it was the piece I wanted to start with. Now to speak to Lizz and get her thoughts or concerns, Lizz was very helpfully but allowed me to make all of the decisions dealing with the tattoo ....size, location, color etc. She explained to me the process and how long it would take, then lastly the cost which I never asked about and should of been maybe my second question to her, my first question was if she could do the tattoo which was an attempt at a little humor but also being straight forward since I have never had any work done by Lizz. Lizz stated no problem and we looked at her schedule picking a day/time. So excited when the day came and a little nervous too, Lizz instructed me on her work as she proceeded. After 2 hours she asked me to view it and I stated I didn't need too as what was done was done and I would take a peek at it later. My thought was no way the tattoo would look as good as it did on paper verses being put on skin. Lizz explains maintenance process until healed , charges me a smaller amount then stated and I leave the shop to go home, but its a little like Christmas as I did want to peek without being disappointed. First time I looked at it I was very very happy with her work , several friends also state what a great job she did. Now ...not knowing Lizz's artistic capability and my first tattoo I did not want to insult her, but seeing what a great job she did on a what I am sure was just a simple tattoo for her. As two hours went by quickly when I thought she couldn't of been done just yet and to now see what she did ...very happy and can't wait to go for second, third and maybe fourth tattoo . I used to get all my tattoos and piercings at Big O. I got my first one on my 18th birthday and I kept coming back because I felt loyal and like this was "my shop." The art was always good, too. But eventually I realized that there were shops in town where the artists didn't treat you like you were invisible or annoying and actually put some effort into designing art for you instead of just churning out an assembly line boring tattoos. Don't get me wrong, the artists here are skilled, but I've come to find the shop is overpriced and there are better places to go. Get off O street and shop around. read more
