I purchased a vehicle from Big Motoring World and unfortunately my experience with their after-sales service has been very disappointing. Shortly after purchasing the car, I discovered that the air conditioning system was not working. After many emails and follow-ups, the dealership eventually acknowledged the issue and authorised a repair at Halfords. However, the repair appears not to have resolved the problem. Because the repair was carried out in late autumn, there was no practical way to test the air conditioning during the winter months. When the first warm weather arrived recently, I tried using the system again and discovered that it is still not producing cold air. Despite extensive communication over several months and more than 50 emails, the issue remains unresolved and I am once again having to chase the company for assistance. Buying the car itself was straightforward, but the after-sales support has been extremely frustrating. I hope the company will review this case properly and resolve the matter soon. I would advise prospective buyers to carefully consider the level of after-sales support they may receive if issues arise. read more

Extremely Poor Customer Experience I had previously heard negative feedback about BIG and had a poor experience years ago, but decided to give them another chance when they happened to have the exact car I was looking for. Initially, the sales process went well. The salesperson was helpful and honest, which gave me confidence to proceed with the purchase and pay a deposit on a Saturday. I was told the car would be ready in two days after some minor polishing, and that I'd be contacted on Monday with a collection date. From that point, communication completely broke down. Monday passed with no update. I called Tuesday and was told there was no ETA and to wait for a callback--which never came. Over the next 12 days, despite multiple follow-ups, I was continuously told the person I needed was unavailable. No one ever got back to me. I eventually visited the showroom in person, where a manager guaranteed the car would be ready the following Wednesday and promised an email confirmation--which never arrived. More chasing, more broken promises, and still no email or call. Finally, after threatening to cancel and request a full refund, I received a call saying the car was ready. Even then, collection was delayed by over an hour and a half, and to top it off, the promised floor mats were missing. After querying this, I was told I would not be receiving them or any reimbursement--despite prior assurances. The entire experience has been frustrating, unprofessional, and entirely avoidable. After paying my deposit, I felt like I was no longer a priority. This dealership advertises a smooth and simple buying process, but my experience was the complete opposite. I've purchased many cars before and have never encountered service this poor. Update: As of 6th April 2025 - DUD CAR Multiple issues have emerged: 1. Shuddering in 1st gear--they claimed it's normal for Audi diesels, but a health check revealed it's typical for Q3s, not Q2s (my model). I'm quoted £940 to investigate, with a likely £3,000 repair bill for an issue dismissed at purchase. 2. Windscreen wash isn't working--they said it just needed refilling or new wipers, but it's still broken. 3. A slow puncture in one tyre, flagged multiple times on purchase day, was denied by the manager and mechanic. It's been deflating faster than the others ever since. All three issues were raised at purchase and brushed off. After an Audi health check under my warranty plan, staff there insisted I've been sold a dud car and urged me to contact my finance company. They believe Big Motoring World knew about these serious issues before selling it. Original Review for Big Motoring World Fengate: I recently had a disappointing experience at Big Motoring World Fengate. On my first visit, I intended to view cars and make a decision. Since I was passing by, I didn't bring my driver's license or documents. After choosing a car, I placed a £99 reservation to secure it and booked a Tuesday appointment to finalize the purchase. On Sunday, Christian Popple assured me I only needed my license and proof of pending finance payment, explicitly stating a settlement letter wasn't required. But on Tuesday, after three hours at the dealership, I was told the settlement letter was mandatory--contradicting earlier assurances. This caused frustration, though they tried to persuade the finance manager to accept my proof of payment, which was denied, as is lawful. Despite aggressive sales tactics, we placed a £500 deposit to return later. I was misled about my car's part-exchange value--initially quoted £3,750, but it dropped to £2,800 after deductions for extras. We sold the car elsewhere and removed the extras from the deal. On our third visit, the staff were unwelcoming and unprofessional. Unlike before, we weren't offered drinks, and several employees made rude remarks about remembering us. We expected our original sales advisor but got a different manager pushing unwanted extras. The car had tyre issues, raising doubts about its condition. Though they promised fixes, we weren't confident. They also didn't accept credit cards, so we removed extras, feeling unsafe using debit due to prior tyre problems--one was flat on the second visit, and the tyre light came on after a test drive on the third. The sales manager promised resolutions, and after mentioning a past purchase with an undisclosed alloy issue not covered by warranty, we secured a written agreement to return the car if problems persisted. I also asked why I should pay a £300 admin charge when I was paying by debit card and they merely had to take my money and transfer ownership online and was told it covers the 200 point vehicle check etc! Well if it had been through a 200 point check it would not be up for sale with the obvious problems I found immediately! I did say I would still be prepared to take the car straight away and fix the problems myself pointing out I was a cash buyer with immediate funds to transfer but they would not even reduce the price by £200!! Luckily I did not pay a £99 holding deposit as I see from the many bad reviews it is almost impossible to get this refunded. Never leave the £500 deposit as you will never get this back if you are sensible and decide not to buy one of their wrecks! The salesman got a manager who was adamant that despite the faults there would be no reduction in the price. I said to my wife it was time to go and we both walked out! We never even got to test drive the car and after reading the many bad reviews for this GREEDY! uncaring company I can now breathe a sigh of relief that I never became one of their victims! Had anything gone wrong after purchase it seems you are on your own and any warranty agreement and add ons they try to force on you for a few £1000 with them are more useful as toilet paper! Do not buy a car from big motoring world. I reported that the brakes were juddering 6 days after buying the car. They said they could get it looked at 9 weeks later, I then asked if I could return the car by email, no reply to that point. They then cancelled the booking two day before saying our nearest service centre is out of action. A local garage has said the brake system is extremely rusty (calipers, brake discs and pads) they've been giving me the run around regarding getting it fixed and say I don't have any right to reject as there are serviceable repairs. They've offered a fraction of what a garage says it costs to repair. They also claimed to not keep any records of their 200 point check. read more

I bought a car in January and after 1 month the engine light came on. Since then, they are not capable to fix it. They make you waste your money and time only, saying to do a diagnosis but in the end they don't want to pay for supply and fit. All they want is to repair it at their own garages but their next available appointments are in 2month+. Disgusting customer service too. Never buy a car from Big Motoring World! Why? We bought a 2020 Kia Sportage model vehicle on March 10. We bought the car using a loan, and a discount was made on the sale, which was reflected in the monthly installments as £15. A discount of 15X48 months, i.e. 720 pounds, was made. But later we realized that there was no discount and if we had accepted the first offer, we would have paid more than the market price for the car. We bought their own product, Gard X (paint polish insurance), insure the vehicle. But at the end of the first week, we decided that this insurance was unnecessary and wanted to cancel it. But they said that this insurance was assigned to the vehicle, so they could not cancel it. However, they did not inform us about this before the sale of the vehicle. Before the sale, we were told that the vehicle's 7-year warranty offered by Kia continued for another three years. But after the sale, we learned that since the vehicle had never been to the Kia service, this car was actually largely out of the scope of this warranty. In addition to these problems, we saw that the company whose professionalism we initially trusted did not act professionally at all, and that the service provided quickly and professionally when purchasing the vehicle did not continue after the vehicle was sold. We had difficulty finding an interlocutor throughout the process, and we still have difficulty. Unfortunately, we have completed the sales transaction, which we could have abandoned if we had received accurate information about the Kia warranty and service status before the sale. WORST AFTER SALE EXPERIENCE --- AVOID BIG MOTOROING WORLD AND WARRANTIES2000 --- 5th Jan. 2024 I have been sold a faulty vehicle by Big Motoring World with their own 90 days warranty. 6th Jan. 2024 I reported faults in the vehicle that I observed at the time and some of them reported couple of days later 25/04/2024 non of the issues fixed yet... To begin with I am not happy with the outcome, and considering to return the vehicle for a full refund because of the following reasons. 5th Jan. 2024 1) I have been sold a faulty vehicle by Big Motoring World with their own 90 days warranty. BigMW gave me date 19/3/2024 just to run the diagnostics, that date is like two and a half months from the date of purchase. Most of the functions on head-unit don't work and Memory seats malfunction made it difficult to use the vehicle. Please Note: It takes one and a half hours travel time for me to get to BigMW. So I would to take time off work just to drop off the car. So I spoke with Charlotte Meekcoms and insisted to give me earlier appointment. After long debate over the phone she agreed to try for an earlier appointment. 15 Feb. 2024 Charlotte Meekcoms gave an appointment for 28 Feb. 2024 1pm just to run diagnostics. As she was missing some faults reported in her email, I sent her the list of faults (copy attached) As it was impractical to use vehicle on daily basis as front both seats buttons wont work due to malfunction, and in order to save time, I took it local BMW Dealer Sytner Chigwell. 25th Feb. 2024 BMW Sytner Chigwell kept vehicle for two days. They carried out software updates and run full diagnostics tests and provided a diagnostic report with engineer's notes. 27th Feb. 2024 BMW Sytner Chigwell report forwarded to BigMW (Report attached - already sent to BigMW on 27th Feb. 2024) This report mentions clearly. 1) Non-standard head-unit that is in the vehicle causing malfunction (remains in anti-theft mode) due to this MAPS not loading, hence head-unit will need to be replaced 2) Both front flaps will need to be replaced Total cost for the parts and labour is £2204.85 + VAT 28th Feb. 2024 Spoke with Charlotte, she asked for the estimate for the repairs. I forwarded BMW's quotation. I also spoke with Warranties2000 they confirmed over the phone that one of the managers will review and then authorise the work. 29th Feb. 2024 Charlotte Meekcoms emails me asking for CAUSE OF FAILURE I emailed her back with BMW Sytner Chigwell Contact details so she can obtain the information herself. 1st March 2024 Charlotte Meekcoms sent me an email confirming following: "I will contact the garage for further information. I would not advise having any work carried out on the vehicle prior to our review." 4th March 2024 I am still waiting for Charlotte Meekcoms response. I sent her a follow-up email. She replied on 4th March 2024 I am waiting for a response from the garage as I need a cause of failure in order to review this concern raised, are you able to obtain it in an email at all from the garage then I can assist yourself further. 5th March 2024 I forwarded full report from BMW Sytner Chigwell with engineer's notes to Charlotte Meekcoms. Worst experience ever. Sold my wife a car that was not fit for purpose. Door locks didn't work Key didn't fit the door Drivers front door a different colour to the rest of the car as well as the drivers inner sill the front bumper and the A pillars. Seats didn't lock in place and folded on you when driving. Clutch was screaming when pressed in. The first day driving the wipers didn't have blades left on the wipers and we had to replace them immediately due to heavy rain this was missed on the mot. As well as a faulty seat Tyre pressure fault even after setting the pressures to the right specification. The car was over due a service we were told " it was one of the few that slipped though the net " they booked the car in the following Sunday for it's oil change while in the technician noticed the clutch issue and reported it ,and was unable to diagnose anything else as it wasn't booked in for it. this was withheld information to us a few days after we reported the same issues, Imagine knowingly sending a defective vehicle out at the risk of imminent failure? Absolutely disgusting service Took the car back within the 14 days only to be told that the refund would only be given on the grounds "By accepting this refund you are confirming that no further claims shall be brought against Big Motoring World or any of its associates in respect of this matter." So you BIG MOTORING WORLD Have left me almost -£2000 in deposit and fees And won't accept responsibility for it So it's off to my legal team it is then ........ Total scamming clowns . Bought a car within 20 mins the car faulted with a TPMS malfunction the time I picked the car up on a Sunday they was closed so I called the next day and logged my complaint about the fault . Took 2 weeks for them to contact me back with another 2-3 weeks worth of battling back and fourth emails telling me I need to take 2 days off work to take the car for diagnosis and repair which I explained I can't do with my job . I asked for a courtesy car got told no they don't have any until 2024 . I sent an email over a week ago and I've been ignored I called over a week ago and requested a call back and been ignored . I was told I need to pay for the repair and claim my money back from big motoring world . I also complained about a vibration from the rear of the car (tyre balancing) . I already knew what the fault was with the TPMS system as I'm a mechanic so after nearly 5 weeks of battling back and fourth and getting nowhere I've had to layout £85 on genuine sensors , code them and balance the tyres as the tyres big-motoring world had fitted wasn't even balanced . If you want to get technical about things i was left to drive around in a car for 5 weeks with the car not having the now (legal requirement) system active and working on my car . Also all the sensors that was fitted to the car was faulty and non genuine so how did that pass a legit MOT ? With a tyre pressure warning message on the dash ? As the MOT testers are not allowed to reset dash lights ?? Edit : as I can't respond to the below reply . Car broke down within 24h, no support, potential fraud (Wimbledon) They misrepresented the purchase costs on the invoice. At purchase we agreed to pay £100 for their GardX water protection product, when viewing the invoice the full amount payable (car + warranty _ GardX) was the same, but they actually listed GardX as over £600. This will make it exceedingly difficult for us to get their useless warranty (see below) refunded in full (original quote was £1500, on invoice shows as 900). Avoid at all costs. Purchased a used car with their extended warranty for 3 years, during test drive tire pressure was low, asked them to fix this before getting the keys. They claimed it was fixed, less than 24h from purchase car tire pressure was low again, in addition the car would not start anymore due to battery issues. Car was jump/started the day after, only for it not to work again within another 24h. I found it absolutely impossible to speak with their after sales team: - The phone number disconnects as soon as I select to speak about a vehicle you purchased with aftersales - Their Live chat agents ask to call the number above and proceed to abruptly shut down the chat shortly thereafter - Their assist email has not replied in over 3 days, our car is unusable from less than 24h after purchase - The sales line agents, which connect almost immediately, are not able or willing to transfer to after sales care - We had to stay on hold over 20 mins to speak with a representative of their Extended Warranty, something they also expect the garage to do in order to approve any repair. They will not cancel the warranty on this phone line even though we are in the 14 day cool off period, asking us to contact Bigmotoringworld (which we cannot get through to). They will also not allow us to go to our car manufacturer garage as it's "too expensive" Even before the purchase was complete, multiple members of staff pressured us to leave 5* reviews for them. Desperate to use the vehicle, we are now out of pocked to repair our 3 day old car an expect a lengthy battle to see any of our money (warranty, repair costs) back. read more

What an awful after sales company, needed a repair within the first 2 weeks of owning our Juke and they want us to drive 65miles to a workshop in a different county and be there by 8am with a 1yr old. They want to take no responsibility now they have your money and do not want to help at all, we purchased the extra warranty and their solution was "we'll refund the extended warranty and you can get it repaired yourself"!!!! Oh I see you know the repair (stop/start, electric handbrake, instrument cluster problems) will cost a heck of a lot more than the warranty. Seriously stay clear of this company read more

paid £600 for the Smart Protect body work cover. up to 3 yrs of dents and scratches up to 30cm wide. reversed into a skip and made a dent and scratch no bigger than 15cm. Tried to make a claim and was told that the policy doesn't cover the boot, roof or bonnet!!! why would anyone pay £600 for a policy that only covers the sides of the car!!! Feel totally ripped off!! Phone calls and emails to customer service and all they say is they can't comment as to what we were told because they weren't there when we bought the car - of course there weren't!! Within 11 months of buying a landrover from this company the car suddenly broke down in rural France. We were told the breakdown assist didn't cover Europe so had to get it to the UK ourselves, then we had to call our own garage for a diagnostic. When a diagnostic was done they insisted we then had to get the car to their garage, we refused so they sent an engineer who declared it was wear and tear. What you are sold versus what you get could not be wider apart. I've never felt more ripped off in my entire life. Please just do not buy a car from this company. Their customer service people never get back to you, their replies are rude and incredibly frustrating. We bought our car from West Malling Big Motoring World mid November. Within a few weeks we were having issues. It was still under the 5 year warranty with Hyundai and so they were able to fix the heaters within 24 hours. Unfortunately this is where our problems began. During diagnostics, Hyunday found the back 2 tyres were practically worn and had splitting in them. The back rear screen is only working at 25%, the brakes are 70% worn and the rear lights are faulty. We've contacted Sebastian and Rachel from The Big Assist. Sebastian never replied to the 6 emails and Rachel's emails are at best...intermittent with empty apologies. We've explained the car is dangerous to drive and sent them the diagnostic breakdown from Hyundai and yet they are only willing to see us in April. This shows complete negligence even though the car is unsafe to drive and it seems they are choosing that date to avoid the 6 month duty of car window. We have taken this to the motoring ombudsman, trading standards and Watchdog. This company is an absolute sham and quite truly the worst company I've ever dealt with. It only takes a little digging to see I'm not the first customer with these types of issues. read more

If I could have given less than one star then I would have. This is an edited, abbreviated version of my most recent email of many to BigMW:- "200 multi-point inspection We're BIG on quality. That's why we check, check and check again. Customer confidence? Check. 90-day warranty Our cars come with a 90-day warranty as standard so you can drive away with confidence. Thank you for your email, the offer to contribute £177.60 is not acceptable, the absolute minimum that you should do is to pay the costs that I have incurred which amount to £512.65. That does not take into account the considerable inconvenience that I have experienced in having to take the car to two garages, the second one was an hour and a half away and having dropped it off one day I then had to return home by public transport and go back the next day to collect the car. I have pasted above two of the many representations made by you on your website, clearly neither is accurate as if the car had been carefully checked 'three times' then the faults would have been found and fixed, if the warranty was worth anything then it would have covered what were essential repairs. I sent to you the details of your obligations under the various statutory provisions and it is my opinion that you not only committed an offence by offering for sale and selling a vehicle that was unroadworthy but then failed to comply with the act in refusing to replace or repair the car. The faults were not trivial, the Automatic Emergency Braking system is a key safety system on the vehicle and it was completely inoperative, the battery was no longer able to sustain the electrical functions of the car and the systems would not work properly because the computer software was out of date. In terms of a second hand dealer supplied car it doesn't get much worse." I have to say that dealing with BigMW has been an extremely unpleasant experience and I shall not be repeating it in the future. their reply is on Trustpilot, this is my respons:- I have seen the response from BigMW and as you can see they accept that they sold me a faulty vehicle but don't want to pay for the repairs. I challenge them to tell me the identity of the repairer who would carry out the necessary repairs for £177.60 as the cost of an approved Land Rover battery alone is £207.12. That doesn't include the cost of fitting or the repairs to the braking system and the software update all of which were essential. We went to the new Wimbledon branch to buy a Mercedes B class for my wife. Upon first visit and taking the vehicle for a test drive, my wife liked the car so we left a deposit of £500 and confirmed to purchase the car the following day on the basis they cleaned the car and repaired the tyre pressure which popped up on the dash during the test drive. The sales man promised it would be sorted the following day. We returned the following day and the car was still dirty despite and I asked 3 times about the tyre if it was fixed as it looked a little deflated. They promised to take it for a clean/polish and check the tyre again. The car came back dirty again and I showed the manager of all the dirt and once again I asked about the tyre again but I never got a straight answer. After making a full payment for the car, we went to the collection point. At this point the rep began the paperwork where I notice the service history did not match that on the dash. The dash indicated 52,000 but the paperwork by Big Motoring World suggested that they had done a service at 55,900 miles....??? I was very confused and clearly the rep was too where he quickly went to the back office and a manager came out. They were all very confused and after waiting for over 2 hours and finally turned on the ignition the tyre pressure popped up again and without actually fixing the issue a mechanic sat in the car, played around with the dash and said it's gone now. The tyre was still deflated and that was there way of fixing it.At that point, I opted for a full refund. They offered to solve the issue in a few days but how can I trust this company now when they are clearly making up services history and who knows what is the going on under the Bonet and if this car is actually safe. This car was meant to be for my wife and our 2 babies, Big Motoring World you should be ashamed of yourselves lying to customers and providing untrue service history. Really upset about my experience with BMW. I'm heavily pregnant and wanted a quick change of car that was safer for when my baby arrives. This is not the company to use if your ready to go with changing your car. Spent a week chasing up a vehicle they had for sale. Noone could tell me anything. Just kept phoning me asking if I was interested in any other cars and got me to come down to quote my current car for p/x. They offered me 900 pound less than they offered me online for my car and then after a week of me calling almost daily for an update on the car I was interested in, I got an email saying the car still wasn't ready but they'd decided to put the price of it up by 600 pound. When you include that all BMW cars have an extra 300 admin fee on top of them, this pushed the car way above average market value, which amazingly, they actually put on their website so you can see for yourself how much over the market value your paying for the car, even though they advertise their cars are all under market value. Absolute waste of time, petrol and energy trying to use this company. But I've learnt my lesson. Wish I'd had listened to the reviews of this company in the first place. read more

I can only assume any positive reviews are written by their staff, as this is an example of a car dealership at its worst. Please beware if you are considering buying a car from here, as I have been repeated lied to by their salesmen. On my latest dealing with them, I enquired about a car, was told it was in stock and given an appointment for the following day. Upon arrival I was informed the car had been sold, therefore I had wasted my morning with a pointless 2.5hr round trip. The salesman told me that it had gone at midday the prior day, which would have been before I had made the appointment. I was obviously unhappy, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Later that day I thought I would enquire again about the same car through their website (quoting the number plate) and surprise, surprise, was told the car was in stock. They even booked me in with another appointment for the following day! At best it appears they will tell you a car is in stock regardless of the reality, just to get you in through the door, at worst this is a classic 'bait and switch', which is illegal. Please, please beware. You stand a strong chance of wasting your time with this dealership. As mentioned in a previous review, you can't take a test drive unless you commit to buy the car, something which I was not told about either (not that it mattered, as the car wasn't even there...). While I was there I was treated really well and felt like we were getting a good deal with warranty as we had been clearly told that it covers everything to do with the car (we were told a few minutes after that it doesn't cover breaks and tyres) and he even said if it's in the car, you name it and it's covered. The second major lie we were told was that we could take it to any major dealership and it could even go to the original car dealership when using the warranty. After paying up the money and actually speaking to someone on the phone a few days later, after being sent an email with a 3 month warranty instead of 2 years, I found out that I cannot take it the main car dealership only places like Halfords. The final straw was that there is an excess fee everytime the warranty is used and the warranty really does not cover everything component in the car. I contacted them about this and they ignored all my complaints. read more

Recently purchased a BMW 5 series, Car seems fine, not sure if warrantly is worth much as so far engine/suspension issue have been classed as "wear and tear" so not covered! However, I was promised repeatedly by salesman when viewing that original mats would be provided. When collecting a few days later, no original, matching mats in car. Office staff then promised they would be ordered and sent out, and original salesman has reputation for misleading customers so cost would be deducted from his salary. Its been almost a month and repeatedly stonewalled by after-sales team on phone and by email. They insist mats are not advertised or provided, ignoring completely was was promised directly to me, many times, by both salesman and office staff on collection. Very disappointed by the failure to provide what was clearly promised to me (in earshot of many staff members and other customers) and by the poor attitude of after-sales team. Would recommend other avoid this dealership, or get absolutely everything writing so they can't backtrack. read more

I have recently left Big Motoring World Sales department. First of all, the positive testimonials have been left be sales staff. They are bullshit. The cars are not prepared to any standard, if checked at all. The warrantys are rediculous, cover nothing and every claim is subject to wear and tear. The cars are not cheap, they are just high mileage. The cheapest advertised cars - do not exist. These are known as spurious cars. Once you have turnrd up, you are told that the vehicle has just been sold but there are others to choose from. The spurious cars advertised are designed to get you in. They simply do not exist. If you purchase paint protection, it is not even put on the car. The 3 month warranty that comes with the car is only a statutary warranty, (this is a legal requirement - nothing more). I can only recommend that you avoid Big Motoring World, like the plague. Cars are ex-company cars. read more

I bought a car from this dealer recently, and their service was good. I will recommend them to anyone that wants a cheap BMW.

I found Big Motoring World online and thought they looked great - a wide range of cars and wasn't too far from me. Myself and my partner went down and found a car we liked, decided to purchase the car and was told to go back and collect it a few days later (at the weekend) as that would give them time to service and valet the car. Upon collecting the car I asked if the service had been done and was told no as it didn't need one. Apparently it had one at the end of last year - still not too sure why I was told I had to wait 3 days to collect the car due to a service when it didn't need one, but anyway! They then brought the car round to us to drive away. When we walked out to the car we noticed a large scuff along the back bumper that wasn't there when we viewed the car. I mentioned it to the lady there and she said the car hadn't been anywhere to get the damage in the last few days and so it must have been there before hand and we must have agreed to buy the car in that state. I told her that was not the case and we taken a screen shot of the car online before hand and so if we sent that picture proving there was no damage - would they repair it? She said yes. There was no mention of the damage in the cars online description and the salesman didn't mention it either. I have since sent the picture to Big Motoring world proving there was no damage visible and they have told me that its 'not a proper picture' and so they will not help. They want me to pay £120 for their mistake. Not too sure what's happened to the customer always being right? (especially with proof) I'm really disappointed with the services I have had here and wouldn't advise anyone to go there...unless you want a row! They are very blunt and now they have my money they are not interest in helping at all!! read more
