I absolutely love coming to Big Lots. I usually come in for certain items. But I thought I would wonder in because I was in the area. The store was clean and very well stocked. I was able to find what I needed and there was plenty of helpful staff around to assist when needed. What I like about this location is that there is never a long wait in the line. They had every lane open and the cashier's are always quick and they are polite. They try to get everyone out of the line quickly. However, they still ask if you found everything okay and that is what I like about them. I have never encountered rudeness from the staff and they are always so friendly. They also have ample parking and spaces out front that are marked for curbside pickup in case you want to place an order online. I didn't realize that you could do that. So this is helpful to know in the future. I definitely plan to visit more often, especially since they always have great deals on cleaning and pet supplies. read more

Came here yesterday to purchase some adorable unicorn chairs for my little ones. The guy in the furniture section, James I think, couldn't have been more helpful. This wasn't the normal big lot's I'd go to, but my wife had ordered some stuff online and they happened to have it in stock so she asked me to stop here and get the order. Really narrow entry way that looks to open up into what I'd consider to be a smaller than normal Big Lots - with less furniture than what you would find at normal locations (I Could be wrong, I didn't go explore). There were two people in line in front of me and one person checking people out. Both people had issues and they had to reverse out the check out items and ring them in again .... just really not organized. I'm not sure that it was all their fault (big lots) it does seem like some of this fell on the customers. But, they did finally add a checker as the last person in front of me was wrapping up and I went to him to get help on the pick up order. Lot's of confusions, even though I was listed as an authorized person to make the pick up. Overall the process was way more complicated than it needed to be. We've done this at other big lots locations and haven't had any issues. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this location, I prefer the other Big Lots, I've shopped at in the past, to this location. read more

Have you ever in your travels accidentally stumbled across a place that looked normal from the outside but then caught you totally off guard when you went inside ? Big Lots is such a place ! I was looking for a place to turn around when I happened into this little shopping center from a by-gone age. This store has the most bizarre mix of products that I have ever seen in one place. The store is pretty clean and all, but it is just weird as hell ! I mean that though in a good way and if you are just killing time, stop on in here and browse around just to say that you have had the experience. This place reminds me of what stores in the Science-Fiction Hollywood Apocalyptic future will be like ! It will be a time between Mad Max but not yet to Terminator 2. Right before Soylent Green but not yet Omega Man. The polar ice caps melting and the planet turning into Waterworld may have begun. This situation would theoretically yield supply lines that have been disrupted and cause new trade routes connecting odd remains of land masses to be established. Retail trade among human beings will be reduced to stashes of remaining products and what few remaining products of value which can be produced. If you want to see what this looks like...come to this place! The store has odd kitchen supplies, coffee makers, glassware,off brand greeting cards, throw rugs, and also has furniture, toys, pet supplies, gimmick products that failed to be sold on late night television, grooming supplies, garden supplies, auto supplies and super odd foodstuffs. Weird food and snack collections of pickles, olive oils, imported Italian pastas, American penny candy you may have thought was no longer available, cookies, coffee mixes from foreign lands, odd brands of sardines, herring, chips, sugared cereals and an enormous supply of "off-off-off brand soft drinks" (Like off-off-off Broadway productions, you never heard of these). The store is not very big and the layout is like a carnival fun house of mirrors. Each aisle provides a new and totally different surprise and the first time tour if you snake through the place you will hardly be able to guess what you might see next ! My finds of the day were Dad's Root Beer, some inexpensive name brand motor oil, fuel treatment, a 50 dollar Yamaha Drum Machine to make my boy happy and his grandparents crazy (hehee!) and some trippy and cool looking clay pot Tiki God Totem planters. And also Madman's favorite hard to find "end of the world treat"--THE CLARK BAR!! Yaaaaay!! If the world ever turns into Zombieland, don't miss this stop to find your Twinkies or whatever creature comforts that the fall of civilization and the End of Days may provide! Last night was the first time in a while that I visited this Big Lots location. From I remember, this store always has low prices. Now, being a frequent visitor of other stores, I've forgotten how LOW and I mean LOW, the good in this store are. Although it's not ideally located and a bit hidden, I'd say this place is a must visit for anyone looking to save. The staff is friendly and they have an abundance of products. I come here because you have the bird seed and Damp Rids I need. But today the check out line was long and only one woman checking out customers. The (looked like) manager and another employee were up at the front and could have easily helped their teammate out and checked a few of us out who were waiting with only 2-3 items. I recent wanted to purchase a Broyhill Naples Sectional from my local Big Lots near where I live in Trussville AL. So I went to Big Lots on a Wednesday. The guy that worked the furniture dept had a truck come in and was called away and so I didn't have the time to wait I had to leave before being helped.I sent my husband when he got off of work around 5pm but the gentleman that worked the Furniture department had already gotten off of work himself and wouldn't be back until that Friday.The employees couldnt find the sectional in the back to sell it to me so they tagged it to hold for me until that Friday when the gentleman that worked the Furniture department would be back.My husband and I went first thing that Friday morning but someone had sold the furniture the day before on Thursday so i was very upset.I called other Big Lots Anniston,Rainbow City,Jasper,Cullman,with no luck that is until I called the Big Lots in Homewood off of green springs.I spoke with the gentleman in the furniture department a James Tenny.I told him what my problem was as one store seemed to have part of the sofa and another store had the other part but without both pieces being in the same location I couldn't do the Leasing option and he told me he would see what he could do and would call me back to let me know if he could help me get the sectional I had wanted. Let me tell you, James went far and above to help me get my couch.He was very pleasant on the phone he was respectful and so helpful.And when my furniture came in a day earlier he called me to let me know.I think he was just as excited that he was able to work miracles and get my furniture as I was to be getting it !!! James Tenny even gave us a 15% discount on purchases and his co-worker Anita that rang up our purchases was just as sweet.I must say I was pleasantly surprised how far the staff went out of their way to make me happy to be a Big Lots customer.I may even drive a little out of my way from Trussville to shop at the Homewood Big Lots store !!! read more

Had a great experience at this big lots in the furniture department! Found a couch and a bedroom set within minutes because everything is laid out on the floor for you to see which I love so it is a quick yes or no when you walk in. The store associate that helped us was SO kind and patient. She personally went to look in the back to see if the furniture was in stock and unfortunately the bedroom set was at this location but we had to go to the bessemer location for the couch. She called and made sure that the staff at the other big lots went in the back and physically saw the couch before she told us to go and when we arrived they already had the couch set aside with our name on it! I thought that was really nice because we all know how sometimes the computer systems can say something is in stock but then you go and it's not there. I always appreciate when somebody goes to extra step to make an experience seamless. Will be back at this big lots again. read more

This big lots has a better selection of goods than most others in the area. The location isn't convenient for me, so I only go by here if we are in the area for other reasons. Checkout was quick and friendly. Definitely the nicest Big Lots I have visited all in all! read more
