We came here for my friend's 30th birthday. It was a large group of us. The hostess didn't assume we were coming given that some of my friends had been calling the restaurant asking about pizza. I think from that point on they knew what they were in for. We all settled in and got ready to order drinks. Before we could our wonderful waitress (whose name escapes me now) told us about their large walk in wine selection. As the night went out and the cocktails/wine/beer kept flowing our group devolved into a rowdy fun mess. Throughout it all the hostess and our waitress kept a big smile on their faces and laughed along with us. My friend even got to show them his dollar trick (which involves throwing a dollar into the ceiling) and they laughed at it (instead of being mad like I thought they would). Karen Sposato, owner, and Eduardo Nogal, Director of Operations were both in attendance. Neither the food nor the wine disappointed! Chef Justin made an insanely delicious five course meal that hit every taste bud in all the right ways and the wine paired so perfectly with each course. I would say that the scallops were probably the best I've ever tasted and the short rib skewers were incredible, melt in your mouth. Lastly the dessert which the chef called milk cake was like a cross between Tres Leches and tiramisu. The cake layers soaked up the milky caramel sauce and it was sublime. As for the wines, the Chardonnay was my favorite of the whites, light on the palette and a bit of citrus and just a hint of oak. The Cabernet Franc was a knock it out of the park red. It had fruity flavors to begin and then turned dark and spicy with rich peppery flavors. We can't wait for the next wine dinner with the crew at Cru! Also, can't wait for our wine to be delivered!
